Love it! Funnily enough, they also met 3 years earlier, according to an interview I did with original AM Bassist: "He [Andy Nicholson] also recalls seeing The Strokes at Alexandra Palace [2003], with Alex Turner & Matt Helders, and spotting Carl and Pete from The Libertines in the crowd - “somewhere there’s a photo of Pete & Carl, with the three most excited kids ever” Andy says"
up the bracket, what a record!
thank you sir
Babyshambles were busy, so Pete was right. He should have been more polite though. He was too harsh.
I put both Alex and Pete up there as lyrical genius. It would be very hard to say if one is better, they are both uniquely superb.
Pete is better 100%, just not as stable as Alex
@@henben9215Agreed. Doherty is a true English poet
England owns the finest lyricists ever x
Pshh yeah okayyyyy keep telling yourself that… I’ll give it to yall…You do have the best ever in Lennon and McCartney…and lots more but still just to name a few…we got soooo many more…Dylan, Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson, Chuck Berry, Brian Wilson, Johnny Cash, Leonard cohen, prince, Springsteen, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, MJ, Stevie Nicks, Neil Young, Lou Reed, James Brown, Maynard, Zac de La Roacha, Layne Staley, Michael Stipe, Win Butler, just to name a few…it’s not even a question…and that’s not even including every Rap legend ever…Biggie, Pac, Wu Tang, Andre, Scarface, Big L, Eminem, Jay Z, Nas, Kendrick, Cole,Big Pun, Z-Ro, Pimp C, MF Doom, Killer Mike, Rakim….yeah yall Brits get smoked by the Americans…no competition
I mean Eminem track “Infinite…” alone…Lyrically speaking is pretty hard to think of a single song by a Brit that is better lyrically speaking…lyrically…I think there are tons of Beatles, Stones, Queen, The Who etc etc songs better than that as complete songs… but lyrically ? Nah
@@Doyouevenart69 You agreed with me in your first sentence…rap artists have fine lyrics, but you can never hear them. Brutal delivery doesn’t allow you to, but as an Englishman, the stories from this island considering the size, provide better lyricists. It’s only my opinion though my friend…no need for an essay x
@@Doyouevenart69its an insult to compare that clown who is a bad influence and full of negativity, eminem, to real musicians like the Beatles, pink floyd, oasis, zeppelin, the libertines, I guess you think "slapping hoes" and stuff is cool , you can't spell Crap without RAP. Hopefully you learn to appreciate real music one day
@@Doyouevenart69this is embarrassing for you
they were both signed to semi publishing by the same guy. same guy also signed the fratellis, kasabian and the enemy.
Blinding EP is great
Things happen for a reason!!! Lol
Turner sounds insecure, I bet he is too lol
Alex Turner is better than pete why would he be insecure im American everyone knows artic monkeys here no on gives a shit about the libertines
I'm American i know artic monkeys because of their great music i only know the libertines because of Pete's drug use and Kate moss
You wouldn't know about arctic monkeys if it wasn't for the libertines or the strokes. They provided the platform massively
I think that's probably the media's fault for focusing on Pete's drug abuse and relationship with Kate Moss instead of his great music
Friend you are missing a ton of good music then! Libertines and Babyshambles are brilliant.
that’s really sad
