I feel a lot of people are decrying that Nina didn't have a badass moment, but I think that is the point of her character. Every other member of the squad (except maybe Weasel. explicitly including Waller and Flag) has accepted their 'monstrous' behavior as an acceptable part of their otherness, what makes them different from 'normal' people. For Waller, she relishes in her ruthless amoral behavior as a 'necessity' to protect the people who would condemn her (this applies to a lesser extent to Flag, who condemns his own checkered military career even disregarding it inspired his son.) The Bride is a nihilist, everyone has abused her and used her (the reference to "Mathilda" implies she has realized Victor was a groomer) and so, she reacts with indifference, unwilling to try NOT being a monster because regular people aren't any better. Phosphorus has passed though the other side to hedonism, he embraces his monstrosity because otherwise he would have to confront the horror of his trauma (remember the dance scene that flickered between the pimp outfit and his wedding?) While I initially thought that GI bucked this pattern as he lacked the self-awareness to truly understand his 'monstrosity', his otherness, I think the fact that he misses his old friends and protects Nina shows that he wants to belong, he needs companionship. And its clear that it's not just a compulsion: he enjoys killing Nazis because it gives him value and makes him worthy of belonging. As for the Weasel...man, I don't know it's unclear how self-aware he is. But Nina? Nina never ACTED like a monster, she's legitimately blameless. That's what made the 'go be a monster' line so brutal: the people she finally started to bond with, who accepted her, told her that murder was part of her nature, that that's what she had to do to belong. And in the end, that's the greatest shame, because the lesson shouldn't be that you have to be badass, to be powerful, to be dangerous, to be USEFUL in order to belong. @@willcopeland275no of course not, there are certainly some cops who join the force out of a desire to do good. I’m certainly there are plenty like that actually, the issue is there is little to no accountability for police in America. The perfect example of this is the Uvalde Texas shooting. Dozens of cops just stood in the hallway for close to an hour just listening to the screams of children as they were gunned by by a shooter and if it wasn’t for some random guy going in the school and stopping the shooter, who knows how long they would had just stood there. And what happened to them? Nothing really, I’m not even sure if any of them were actually fired for it. And when good cops speak out against the bad cops in their region, they are ostracized for it. And then you have all of the high profile cases of cops killing unarmed people (particularly black people) and very few of them actually face repercussions because the system is rigged in their favor. And there are cops who are aware of this and abuse it maliciously and they are protected by law enforcement. And this been going on for decades now, look at the Rodney king beating for that. So while I don’t agree with saying that all cops are bad, law enforcement in this country is ripe for justifiable criticism
35:26 full thing about them being like Universal monsters, that’s the original concept behind the Classic WW2 team A bunch of soldiers that underwent experiments to make them into Frankenstein, a wolf man, a Transylvania Vampire, and….A Medusa lady. Okay well the last one isn’t universal but the rest of the OG team is! I liked this show but would also love to see the classic WW2 team one day too
Does James Gunn need a hug? Because he just killed the best member of the team in Nina after we finally saw her painfully tragic origin story! But seeing G.I. Robot back gives me hope that maybe James can bring back Nina. She’s too good to be killed off by a psychopathic princess.
@ so you’d rather her be dead than be around monsters who she was having a genuine positive effect on, especially the bride?! What the hell is wrong with you?
I think it goes along with the theme of monsters actually being tragic characters who are rejected by society for things they have no control over like Nina and Weasel
Watched the episode then came straight here for the reaction. Solid finale. Nina's backstory was about as tragic as could be expected. That shot of her under the water underneath the princess was fab, a mirror like shot of her against a human, keeping that question of how human does she see herself. Real shame she had to die, but it did make sense as she was the most innocent. The Bride's revenge felt so vindicating. Loved how they wrapped it all up without it feeling convoluted or like they were hanging on for more. Yes there's a tease for more CC, but as for the princess she's out of the picture. Overall this series was great, so happy it stuck the ending in a satisfying way. Let's hope the next DCU stuff will be on this level. I'm quite interested to see these characters in live action, especially the Bride, I hope the makeup & prosthetics get her right.
I've always liked those that are different and others don't like, both people and animals, so I'd definitely be friends with Nina or even more if I was in school with her. Despite her being a fish and having to wear a helmet, she's definitely smart and I think pretty too 😅
i like the season, it feel like there was missing at least an episode to finish everthing properly, but i imagine thats the problem when this show and character need to flow to another movie or even season. i asume Flag is gonna be use in other thing, probably a cameo in superman, Peacemaker 2 probably have some cameos and reference of the Commandos, all of that, to me the problem is that this individual season feel rush and incomplete. fun charactes, great animations but the plot was very thin and the ending a little bit anticlimatic
At close range many pistols wont exit the body. Especially the glocks that most police use. Neither has the penetration power or speed. But yeah definitely no reason to resort to shooting to kill a guy that posed 0 threat to them. Especially in the back.
A question for americans, did you know that eastern and southern europe isn't just bird poop eating romani and weird castles US heroes get to destroy? Every single time it's in a show it's just that.
I heard in the comic the mummy has healing abilities, so many there’s a way for him to revive Nina! And has even made it so she can breathe on land ( total coping)
The Nina backstory doesn't really make since the media was like the mysterious sea creature spotted in the harbor of the town where she went to school and was know??? Guess a fish kid going to school being on a sport team and growing up to be an adult didn't make the news?
True, but its seems like in this universe Gunn made, oddities in normal everyday things seem to be not out of place. But then again if it is "normal" in this world why were they so afraid of a creature in the city waters? I mean killer croc literally lives in the sewers but no one bats an eye to address how to get him out. So yeah a bit of a writing mishap on that end
This episode proves how much iv hate being a human what happened to nina how those bully Humans in the school and the cop killed Nina's dad who only one card about his daughter
Wait, so did Kin Shark NOT die in The Suicide Squad? I know it's a new universe but I also know they're still continuing and referencing both that and Peacemaker
It stuck the landing but didn't quite nail it It was underwhelming except for the Nina backstory part (which was great mind you) but everything else felt a bit rushed. One more episode would have made it feel more complete IMO also considering that Dr Phosphorus is from Gotham...how does he not know Clayface is a question I have

I understand what you’re saying but I can’t agree all cops are like the way you and some people feel they are
@@willcopeland275no of course not, there are certainly some cops who join the force out of a desire to do good.
35:26 full thing about them being like Universal monsters, that’s the original concept behind the Classic WW2 team
A bunch of soldiers that underwent experiments to make them into Frankenstein, a wolf man, a Transylvania Vampire, and….A Medusa lady. Okay well the last one isn’t universal but the rest of the OG team is!
I liked this show but would also love to see the classic WW2 team one day too
10:49 Maybe he wanted to be suspended with pay.
Nah, that guy definitely was telling himself “yeah, I saved lives today…”
Aaron going just let me lug around the machine is a mood after that nightmare of a machine
also does James Gunn hate the police??
Happy New Year Jay and Adam🎉🎉
James Gunn has got something to say about cops.
Weasel is so cute and I wish I could pet him! He just wants to be friends with everybody after all
He's a good boy at heart.
Does James Gunn need a hug? Because he just killed the best member of the team in Nina after we finally saw her painfully tragic origin story! But seeing G.I. Robot back gives me hope that maybe James can bring back Nina. She’s too good to be killed off by a psychopathic princess.
She is too good to be part of the team which is why I don't see her coming back.
@ so you’d rather her be dead than be around monsters who she was having a genuine positive effect on, especially the bride?! What the hell is wrong with you?
@@thedarkknight2221She was bound to die sometime she couldn't be a monster.
I think it goes along with the theme of monsters actually being tragic characters who are rejected by society for things they have no control over like Nina and Weasel
Id say clayface was playing dead until they discovered him. Afterwards then would've pulled himself together.
Makes sense, after all the plan was for him to be discovered.
Despite her being a fish and having to wear a helmet, she's definitely smart and I think pretty too 😅
R2 has to upgrade his software and hardware simultaneously or he wouldn't know how to access his new hardware
7:22 That Bald Kid might be Lex Luthor
i like the season, it feel like there was missing at least an episode to finish everthing properly, but i imagine thats the problem when this show and character need to flow to another movie or even season. i asume Flag is gonna be use in other thing, probably a cameo in superman, Peacemaker 2 probably have some cameos and reference of the Commandos, all of that, to me the problem is that this individual season feel rush and incomplete. fun charactes, great animations but the plot was very thin and the ending a little bit anticlimatic
perhaps they actually said ghost writer, which is an actual thing in literacy.
At close range many pistols wont exit the body. Especially the glocks that most police use. Neither has the penetration power or speed. But yeah definitely no reason to resort to shooting to kill a guy that posed 0 threat to them. Especially in the back.
The game is called lacrosse
So we just lost Nina for nothing, because Waller cant make a call straight to her team, cool
I knew it would happen, when it happened I got sad either way
Why are these guys dressed for different environments? 😆
It's a good thing James Gunn didn't off Ratchatcher 2 like what he did to ________
Have you noticed how the cops in this show seem to be trigger happy? Feels like there's a point trying to be made here
Lets go! ❤️
A question for americans, did you know that eastern and southern europe isn't just bird poop eating romani and weird castles US heroes get to destroy? Every single time it's in a show it's just that.
It'd be really sad if this is the end of Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky .. her back story is nonetheless tragic~
I heard in the comic the mummy has healing abilities, so many there’s a way for him to revive Nina! And has even made it so she can breathe on land ( total coping)
Petition for Nina to be alive 😢
James Gunn doesn’t like reverting deaths…. Yet
Deaths need to be permanent. Otherwise death means nothing
@@roxtechs GI Robot says hello
@@LvVStudios he's a robot..
@@roxtechsi mean Starlord nearly died twice in his movies. And Weasel in Suicide Squad.
There's two superman songs that are great for superman, starman david bowie and kryptonite by 3 doors down
What the hell got Nina in prison?
The Nina backstory doesn't really make since the media was like the mysterious sea creature spotted in the harbor of the town where she went to school and was know??? Guess a fish kid going to school being on a sport team and growing up to be an adult didn't make the news?
True, but its seems like in this universe Gunn made, oddities in normal everyday things seem to be not out of place. But then again if it is "normal" in this world why were they so afraid of a creature in the city waters? I mean killer croc literally lives in the sewers but no one bats an eye to address how to get him out. So yeah a bit of a writing mishap on that end
SHE DIDN'T EVEN DOING ANYTHING WHY DID SHE DIE
Why do the nice people always die? Just... WHY?!
Squid game szn 2?
This episode proves how much iv hate being a human what happened to nina how those bully Humans in the school and the cop killed Nina's dad who only one card about his daughter
Wait, so did Kin Shark NOT die in The Suicide Squad? I know it's a new universe but I also know they're still continuing and referencing both that and Peacemaker
No King Shark lived what you mean?
It stuck the landing but didn't quite nail it
It was underwhelming except for the Nina backstory part (which was great mind you) but everything else felt a bit rushed. One more episode would have made it feel more complete IMO
also considering that Dr Phosphorus is from Gotham...how does he not know Clayface is a question I have
What, do you think every mutated monster-person Batman rogue knows each other?
@@hasthehighground8560 I expect most people in Gotham know Clayface, he's not a small villain
@@neminem233lol. Clayface is a small villain on a grand scale. The most violent version of him is a raging maniac killer that is specialized in hiding as a different person everytime he kills. He’s stealthy.
On the other hand most other members of Batman rogue gallery are either gang leaders or public terrorists.
If we see this show even with least logically, it looks like a shit

Felt a little unsatisfied from the finale and not in a good way, hopefully s2 retroactively fixes that by picking up on some plot points like Circe-who just dropped off the face of the show???
I prefer circe being the main villian
The cops really grounded this comicbook show. Just wish Ollie was operating in Star City by then but he’s probably retired since Hal Jordans actor is almost 60
Honestly very upset about the finale. Is his universe just gonna be like this all the time?
Like what exactly?
no? i mean you can’t say now when only one story has come out but there’s multiple writers and stories being written and this definitely was made with a season 2 in mind along with the characters making appearances outside of the show. there’s definitely some problems with the finale but most problems can be fixed or improved upon when writing other projects.
Nina ! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you think they killed her off to rub it in the face of the furries who were baited into watching the show for her ? I feel targeted...
Joke aside, its not everyday i m shocked by a series and i litteraly got up from my chair when she got stab... Truly heatbreaking death...
