I've got Descent demo on a Softdisk floppy that that came with magazine back in the mid 90s. Man, I played the heck outta that and same with Freespace.
Yea descent3 always had decent music ^^ I unfortunately never got to buy the expansion either =( I would of played the crap out of it though, had i known about torrents before or whatever. Feel like buying a joystick again now lol
I've discovered you can leave the starting area if you move backward immediately after the cutscene at the beginning of the level. You have to press enter shortly after the cargo ship arrives above the entrance to exit the cutscene early however.
@divotankwhore Too old to run? I have this on Windows Vista and it runs fine with compatability mode. Descent 1 and 2 can be run with the help of a program called Descent Rebirth The multiplayer for Descent 3 is still running. If you are interested in getting back into the mines, PM me.
You still need to buy and install the actual game in order for that to work. The Dateliste download only gives you the updates and other tools including multiplayer.
+Eternal Moderate They're custom. I simply dropped .WAV files into the root Descent 3 folder that have the exact names of the respective sound effects found in the .HOG files.
My nephew and sister watched me play this for 20 minutes and almost puked. Descent was a truly great series for its day.
That minute-long cutscene at the beginning never made any sense.
Descent 3 was such a great game, if only it could run on modern PCs without problems.
I've got Descent 1 and 2 rebirth and the descent 3 + merc pack as well. I do love this series.

Lol, Heavy Tubbs. Fits rather well, actually. If the Thief Bot is voiced by the Spy, that would be even more ironic.
