And it makes me wonder whether Jonny and friends are correct to be trying to lead the falling clay - should they rather be trying to calculate DROP of the shot string (which for anyone but the Digger would perhaps be impossible)? Dunno.
You should have got old Sir Georgie Digweed MBE out with you, as after your previous video you and the George-inator are best of friends. G-UNIT could have dusted that bird 100 times out of 100 even at double the distance, with a strong wind, rain, fog, a double rainbow, facing into the sun while using a 24 inch left-handed poachers .410, paired with a mixed bag of damp cartridges all that even after having a very much questionable curry the nigh before, resulting in an absolute killer bout of the old thunder bum. George, what a legend of a man.
I may have missed it somewhere, I would fine it useful to hear some explanation of ballistics and account for drop in the pattern at distance. Especially in ranges 40-60 yards.
I always look forward to new videos. There are so many informative subjects from "how to" videos to gear and gun reviews. These just for fun ones are a great intermission! However, WOW, that was a lot of pink! JC, looks like Ed has joined in.Are you setting a new Euro fashion trend? I can't find those in the US!
It’s been a few years now , but we did a similar thing at grimsthorpe on a fitasc course we shot on the Sunday as comp and came back on the Monday for knock about, myself Barry fox and Mike gammon .
Would like to see a soft patterning board with max, load shells through full chokes at 200 yds or so...maybe 20s as well as 12s (and 10s?). I think that there are hunters out there who will sometimes try very long range shots believing that, if the bird passes through gaps in the pattern there is no harm because individual pellets lack sufficient energy to injure the animal. I suspect that's not the case.
Hi all Great bit of fun you where having out at 150yrds. Could you hit a pattern plate out at that range. the challenge is to guess who meany pellets hit it?
Love the work you're doing. Im heading to the UK from Australia in the not to distant future and would love to try out sporting clay's. Ive shot skeet and trap at my local club but we dont do sporting there. Any recommendations of a good location particularly in the northern parts of the UK?
Perhaps your looking at this in wrong the way, use the gun like a rifle aim at a point 20 meters above the landing point fire when the target appears say 20 meters above the point of aim, therefore you will get a closer pattern and more chance a hit.
Incredible fun, but completely pointless. I reckon you should have started at 40yds with a standard 28g 7 1/2 where you can break it consistently and then dress back 10yds at a time to see what the max consistent distance is 5 out of 10 and see the difference between a World Champ and good club shot. Maybe food for thought for a future vlog. Give me an invite, I live close by 👍
Yes it is great lads that you can hit the target at that range, but i think it is wrong that at the begining of your show you said that this would be your high pheasant load or go to be. I would not be encouraging people to shoot beyond means for saftey and a clean kill on live quary.
It’s is my go to load for high pheasants. At no point have I suggested I would consider shooting birds at anything approaching this range. 75 yards yes, 150 no
Clearly you are not shooting where chiggers exist if you are wearing short pants and footwear with no socks. In large areas of the U.S. the chigger, a microscopic insect burrows into one's skin in mass and causes a terrible itching for days.
Makes you appreciate george digweeds shots out to 130 odd yards even more, he made it look easy !
And it makes me wonder whether Jonny and friends are correct to be trying to lead the falling clay - should they rather be trying to calculate DROP of the shot string (which for anyone but the Digger would perhaps be impossible)? Dunno.
Thanks
A convincing licking round the ring 🤪

😂
Maybe but as Ed says luck plays a big part at range
Great vid. Love seeing Ed and when you guys try interesting things out. Have you ever considered messing around with a sound moderator?
The worst quote ever from Ed Solomons, licking round the Ring!!😳🤦♂️🤣🤣
A convincing licking around the ring 😂 😂
As a rifle shooter I would have thought you would have to allow for the ‘drop’, of the shot when estimating lead?
I love you guys, have been an amazing help on improving my sporting clays❤

Love these fun videos 👍 totally pointless but fun , just how it should be.

Really great video! no point, but to prove it can be done (well done Johnny), and have fun! Love it. Oh and how good shotkam is!

Awesome! Very entertaining…. thanks 😊
Hi all
Great bit of fun you where having out at 150yrds. Could you hit a pattern plate out at that range. the challenge is to guess who meany pellets hit it?
Why not not shoot it closer to the apex before it speeds up so much. Once it’s approaching terminal on the way down it’s twice as hard.
Because the pellets may not retain enough energy at that range to break the clay, when it’s dropping and spinning it has more chance of it breaking
42 gram #6 at 1435 fps might help if you're going run what you brung.
It's a family show.....
He gave you a convincing licking round the ring😂😂😂😂.
Ed must have something stuck in his throat. Seemed like every time he spoke I heard an owl? Always enjoy the content and comradery. Cheers!
Lots of owls out there.
I feel like a part of the TGS crew just being here. High quality work team!
you needed Ant there to tell you to " Av a Go at Em "
Bring out a wildfowler and a good 3 1/2 cartridge
That is just incredible shot ! Ed & Johnny will done gentlemen 👏
Would love to try that shoot myself just for the crack 👍

Too late!

Incredible shot!!!!!!
Great Fun Thanks!
Lol, that looks like about the lead I have to give on my foxes except I can't repeat the shot 8 times.
("you three are epic, that shot was amazing at that distance" )mick.
cheers guys all the best mick.
Absolutely wild!
Epically fun to watch!
What size pellet? No6?
3:44 - I bet it's not the first time he's had a convincing licking around the ring.
Like a 9 volt battery
How far??? ... I was shooting 50-60 meters yesterday. Don't need glasses, try Bi-Noculaaaaaaars! Class indeed!
So Johnny just gave Ed a good licking round the ring .😂😂😂😂😂
I was looking for this comment!
😅😂
Well done boys but seriously…..pink pants and shorts? Are you both drinking Bud light these days???
Never mind hitting anything I couldn’t see the clay at that distance 😂

use bigger shot after 100 yards #7 or 6
@@rtyhhas most clay grounds are max 28g 7 shot….the most common size of shot is 7 1/2
We did that last time. This was an out and out attempt at how far we could break it- and from 150 odd we were using 34g 4s
My TSS loads would do that
Let’s do it
@@tgsoutdoors I'll make a few up and be in touch
I can’t even see the clay on the screen 😂😂
Too much fun missing !! 🤪
So much fun 😂
Man my belly hurts from laughter. Just a foot note you men have gotta stop wearing pink 😂
Why choose a dropping shot and not a crosser
More surface area and easier to measure true distance

Anyone else deafened at 2:15 with the shotkam?
You really mean "is 164 yards too far for bird shot?"
You beat me to pedantry corner. I was going to say that too.
I mean, we can test the accuracy and efficacy of slug through a bot rifles barrel at that range if you really want
@@tgsoutdoorslol
To far for slugs too
%99.7 meh thats nothing , it is like you are not even trying ,i can miss it %100 /%100 of the time .....Armatures.
As we can`t see the clays why not just tell lies. Ha Ha
99.7 percent is not impossible it is possible but you are trying to turn a shotgun into a rifle which is stupid and dangerous
Dangerous how
