This is my favorite budget farm gate hinge. For just a few dollars you can upgrade that basic farm gate hinge into something that'll deal with abuse so much better.

OK: To the untrained eye (mine), regarding post-mounted hinge pins, it looks like the top hinge pin is upside down...meaning all the weight of the gate is resting on the lower pin. It looks like the only thing the upper pin is doing is keeping the gate straight up and down. On all the gates on my property, all the post-mounted hinge pins (top and bottom) are mounted pin up.
I'm totally new to ranching and everything related - so if I'm missing something, please advise.
Thanks for posting and thumbs up as always.

I can totally see how it looks like that, and that would be the case perhaps if the pins were in the center mass of the gate. But the weight of that gate is never going to pull directly downward on that top pin, regardless of it's orientation--it's pulling away from the post. While that bottom pin bears more downward force, that top pin bears more outward force.
We prefer to put the top pin facing downward because it prevents an easy "remove and go" gate. If both pins are facing upward, it can often simply be pulled upward and taken out of the way, allowing drive-through access for folks that aren't supposed to have it.

@SWiFence Wow, thanks for the thorough, detailed reply. That makes a lot sense.

Pins must be opposing, one up, one down. If they are both facing up, animals can lift the gate with their mouth or head and the gate will fall off the hinge pins. My gelding lifted an 8 foot gate in his teeth and pushed it aside.

Is Welding right over the powder coating acceptable? I ask cuz i’d like to try this method.

It’s best to grind the finish off if you can but in a pinch, you can weld through the powder coating with enough heat, it just won’t be as good of a weld.
