    Good timing. I was just doing platforms. I too found the A4 needed the most clearance for the value gear. With the coal dust have you tried adding it later? With random bits of moss etc. on ballast I usually add it after the ballast has dried by spraying/painting on watered down PVA and then adding the scatter materials

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  4 месяца назад +5

      Yeah it's odd how the linkage sticks out beyond the valences. You can add the coal dust later but if you want a more compacted look where it mixes in with the sleepers and ballast then it's easier to do it at the same time.
      Even if you add it afterwards, you do tend to need to seal it with glue over the top, otherwise the dust can get drawn up into the motors and mechanisms. Thanks for watching 🤩

    Amazing progress and good to see the layout really coming together now. The new TT:120 scale does seem to lend itself to a good detailed and realistic layout. If I weren't invested in I would certainly be considering it.

      Thanks Nigel! It does seem to be a good mix between being small enough to fit in large features like the retaining wall stretch but also big enough that those features still make an impact.

    Hey sorry in advance for any punctuation/grammar mistakes. I recommend you to buy Piko's ICE 3 for 205 euros (decoder with sound that you have to configure and soder yourself is arround 130 euro). If you're good with paint/decals you can modify the train to look like the one on october 2010 when it debuted in uk other variation is the eurostar (not the class 373 there is also the E320 its an ice 3 but heavily modified) but it will take you hella lot of work, but i recommend the set overall since i have one for over 5 years now. Ok I think this layout is really coming together. but there is one little thing that I think is a little bit weird. when you're trains are done running around the loops and going back to the station there's no real way for them to turn around after a run. Is there a turntable for TT scale? I just think adding a turntable for your steam locomotives might make it a bit more… realistic? I don't know to be honest. still this layout looks amazing!

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  4 месяца назад +3

      There isn't room for a turntable really. We have the sidings next to the station with the idea being that once a train arrives, a loco from the siding can couple on and take it back out again. The released loco can then run round the reverse loop and into the sidings to get it facing the right direction for the next train.
      The layout was designed with this operation in mind to give it some interest. And of course this only applies for the A3 and A4. All the other locos are capable of running in either direction. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍

    If I may ask, why no escape points at the end of the platform?

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 месяца назад

      By the time you account for the length of a headshunt to fit pacific locomotives, plus the length of the points themselves, you'd only have space to run round one coach which isn't really worth it. The way it's currently setup allows for more operational interest by swapping a new locomotive over to the train for the next departure. Thanks for watching 👍

      Hi Richard, essentially the bridge is on a very slight, imperceptible incline. As the trains come up the main incline, when they reach the bridge it starts to level out before it reaches the first set of points. In this scale we're literally talking 1-2mm.
