In this video, I show you my completed manifold along with an update to my sump section.
If you want to make the same manifold, check out this video: • Red Sea Reefer Profess...
So far, I am 95% complete with what I want in my sump. The only thing left is to setup the GFO or Caron reactor but I don’t think I need it yet. My goal to make sure my chaeto takes care of the phosphates and nitrates so that a GFO/Carbon reactor is not needed.
My manifold setup contains 4 valves. 3 spears gate valve and 1 Kaplan valve. The Kaplan valve feeds water to my ATO converted frag tank. The first spears gate valve feeds water to my UV. The second is not currently used and the last gate valve controls water flow to my calcium reactor.
** Setup the UV at your own risk if you would like to copy my setup. If you don't understand electronics, do not do it!!
My ATO has been converted over to a Frag tank and I had a friend custom make a frag rack for my setup.
Lastly, I’m waiting on mounting hardware before I can mount my AI Sol Blue Prime lights. It’s come a long way and I”m excited and I’m getting close to mounting some SPS in my tank.

I really love how you’ve put and adapted this setup. Really nice build and informative video
Thanks!
Really nice set-up, DO you think you could do a video with the gel filter so we can see the lights and the fish with better colors, I am not trying to be mean or anything, I just think the tank could be appreciated much better that way.
Thanks for sharing...
Will do. I'll have to get a gel filter first... possibly do a video about my current livestock. Thank you for the suggestion.
Merci pour ta vidéo !!! 👍👍👍
Thank you.
Thanks for the vids. Building a 625 also and looking for a UV. The Lifegard units are huge but could possibly fit. Are you happy with the Aqua UV? How do you calculate your flow? Also, do you have moisture problems on the sump side of the cabinet? I’m thinking of drilling the back of the stand to add a 4” fan.
The aqua uv is doing good. No complaints so far. As for flow, I run it through as slow as possible. I don't really have any way of calculating it. I do it by feel. I do leave the cabinet open to get air circulated. Adding a fan in that compartment would be a plus. I thought about that as well but never got around to doing it. Let me know how your fan setup turned out. I might do something similar.
This is super inspiring. I’m considering purchasing this tank right now. Looking at this, Mode Aquarium and IM Nuvo EXT line. How are you liking the system? Any complaints or regrets?
I love the red sea lineup. This is my Red Sea Reefer tank. You will love this tank setup.
That light could be too close for a frag tank, switch it with the fuge section and grow cheato in that top off!
I thought about that and then I saw local reefer who did a similar setup on his peninsula so I decided to try it out. I might switch it up later.
Good evening Modern Reefer. Thank you for the videos! Big fan. Question: How do you have your UV plumbed? I am actually working on replicating the manifold you have done. Trying to plumb it but wanted info on how you have yours plumbed. Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you.
I just responded to your question in the other video. Let me know if you don't see it.
Hi, I like the way you put the us in the skimmer chamber. How are you connecting the out of the uv? Back to sump or to display?
It's being dumped in front of the skimmer inlet.
Thanks for the videos! I have a 625xxl on the way. What are your thoughts on the jabeo pump and what do you have it set to?
I've had Jebaos, Varios, Vectra, rio, aquamedic, etc. They all work fine. I've also had issues with all of them so to me, it's just what you prefer. I do like the new Jebao vs the old Jebao. The new ones are based on sine wave so it's much quieter. I have the Jebao dcp 10000 and I currently have it set at 20-watt consumption. At least that's what it says on the controller. It's currently feeding the display tank, calcium reactor, frag and UV. It's probably considered low turn over for the display tank but it's fine for me for now.
So you can have chaeto and uv? I thought that if you use uv, he will kill algaes in tank :S
I use the UV to control pest, if any. It also does help with algae control.
UV can be placed in the water?
Based on the design, it's safe and I don't have a concern with it but don't do it unless you know what you're doing. Basically do it at your own risk.
Is the uv sterilizer in the sump in saltwater? If so isn’t that dangerous?
It is partially in the water but it should be fine. The housing is reef safe and the electrical portion is on top and out of the water.
Modern Reefer Don’t have one but I’ve never seen one submerged even partially- did you check with the manufacturer?
@@MW-ut3dk I did not so anyone interested should do it at their own risk. Based on the design, it should be fine. The UV bulb sits in a glass sleeve. The water runs through the inlet to the outlet where water is exposed to the glass sleeve. If anything should happen, it would happen at this point but most likely only if the glass sleeve breaks. This would happen whether the bottom housing is in or out of the water. There are no electrical components in the bottom half of the UV housing for electrical shock so it should be fine. Again, this should not be attempted by anyone who does not have knowledge in electronics/ac/dc, etc.
Modern Reefer The reason I’m asking is that if this is an AquaUV sterilizer in the wattage you have a link to the manufacturer website specifically says this line of sterilizers cannot be submersed in any water... If it’s not the same brand then I may be mistaken. But if it is then this setup could potentially be dangerous. Please check for your own safety.
@@MW-ut3dk Thanks for sharing. It should not be done by anyone for their own safety.
