Pattiyar bungalow
Public is not allowed for the stay or the entry to this place. The rent for unofficial vist is Rs 500 per Head and a max of upto 8 persons.Food if bought can be cooked at the place. The place runs on Solar Power and the garden around is frequented by wild animals like Elephants,Leopards,Panther,Deer,Bear etc.Its a very nice place to stay and area comes under attapadi where liquor consumption and sale are prohibited.The banks of the reservoir, the drinking spots for wild animals.The Bungalow over looks another treckking spot known as Muthikkulam and its associated water falls.Its a serene place ideal for meditation and all u can listen to is the rumbling branches in the wind and sounds made by animails.

I've been there year 2014.
Beautiful place.
Muthikulam high value bio-diversity area.
We didn't come across elephants though, but seen boars, buffaloes, black monkeys(very elusive and shy), normal monkeys, peacocks.
Lots of peacocks.
Peacock and normal monkeys will be found on the tree next to the bungalow early morning. They'll wake you up. There's a trench surrounding the bungalow.
Blood sucking worms, if you stand on the grass still for over 5 seconds. Not the usual flat leech. Thin guys which turn U shaped to travel.
We can walk across the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. A four feet or something high old broken wall on one side of the road and a pillar on the other side.
Been to keralamedu, really wild. There's a forest picket station there. I think it's shola forest. Very windy. Also worms there, need to take a pack of salt. Huge centipedes and worms seen while climbing keralamedu. Great view on top.
I think the dam was supposed to be inaugurated by important people twice or something. I think it's still not inaugrated. They passed away.
You can see empty spaces where inaugration plaques were supposed to be there.
There are other conflict issues there, better left unsaid.
The cooks there made simple beans, payar thoran. Along with other great dishes.
What I'm trying to say is that even the simplest dishes were very tasty. Maybe because it grows there.
It's very relaxing to sit in front of that bungalow, the usual robust Rubco chairs found in govt places, sit there watch the waterfall in the distance seemingly falling in slow-motion. The mist filling the scene and passing away like an occasional passenger train.
We stood for one or two days, there were no current no mobile network coverage, but it's good, the place is cold and comfortable and isolated from the fast paced life.

ഗംഭീരം തന്നെയാണ്.

Your voice is really well suited for narration.. it has enough bass to sound professional and enough mids to not make it sound too harsh.. very lucky indeed to have such a wonderful voice..
And you are right; Siruvani was never inaugurated formally.. the reason is the superstition surrounding the untimely demise of leaders who were asked to inaugurate it as you mentioned..
However, i'm personally against visiting such protected and reserve forests unless it is for flora-fauna surveys or such conservation measures.. people are always tempted to visit such untouched locations, people have an insatiable appetite for such journeys.. which ultimately leads to relaxation of norms and increased tourist inflow into such areas.. kallaar in Trivandrum being one of the perfect example for how tourism can ruine an ecosystem completely.. similarly there are numerous places that have been deregulated and brought out of the green belt.. it's sad to see.. it's not your fault obviously, just how our system is broken from inside.. but good luck with all your future adventures..

Not everybody is lucky, or has the determination to reach this destination, - - - as you and your friends have been, - - - -mainly because of the many rules and restrictions protecting this tranquil world.
Did the forest officers who were posted in this secluded area, cut off from all humanity, share their forest experiences with you.
Any encounters with the wild animals? Remarkable how the North Indian forest officer has adjusted to this environment and is comfortable speaking Malayalam. 👍
