He is doing good,I did this same method to my rx100 but i did powder coating all part in black and silver and bought new tank& shield in red colour. We are car buying selling dealer past 12 years that experience worked, we hired mechanic and done own in our place.

Sandblasting will weaken the joints and factory weld. Not recommended
Instead vapor blast as blasting medium is finer and more porous
Sandblasting is 100% recommend..
It will not damage any good welds or body parts..
It will only remove rusted parts, which is what we want..
In addition vapor blasting is 100% not recommended because it will cause rust to form...
