    Any run for me is threshold. I have to walk to stay in zones 2 and 3.

      I also find it is really difficult to stay in zones 2 and 3 while running (despite the fact I can run 18mins for Parkrun)!
      Some tips from me would be:
      Focus on your breathing, keep it as natural as possible but controlled;
      Keep a high cadence, small steps and keep your feet low to the ground;
      Relax your arms, wherever they feel comfortable, but close to your side is best;
      If your HR gets too high, slow down to a walk for 20 secs until the HR drops, then resume running;
      Keep the pace as slow as possible, at first it can be bio-mechanically difficult to run slow, but over time you will become used to it;
      Finally, don't worry too much about comparing your HR to other people's, everyone has a different resting HR, different anatomies, etc., plus HR will depend on a number of external factors, including air temperature, humidity, terrain, gradient, clothing, etc. so it's all relative really. Focus on what feels good for you!

    Nice 👍👌i did yesterdey 2km warm after 12x400m /1.30 cool down ,and 2km cool down . Love watching yours and sarah video. Good work and nice weather for treshold session

    Loving Sarah’s special comments. Nothing wrong with being a faffer. I get nervous before workouts and fluff around a bit too. The bit I get confused about is, what’s the difference between my tempo pace and my threshold pace. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that. I listen to the IRP guys talk about it and don’t quite understand the nuanced difference.

      Yeah.. some people call tempo and threshold the same thing. There’s so many different paces for running.. will explain my thoughts in the threshold video coming up very soon!

    Do lots of double Ingebrigtsen threshold workouts. 5x6:00 in morning, 8x1k or 25x400 in evenings. Just once a week. With either 10x300 or 2x10x200 hills once a week.

    As you tell us ‘surely you can’t beat this’ for the best season to run in, it’s-1C as I go out for my morning run in East Yorkshire, it’s crispy, feels clean, the barn owls are flying near me across the Yorkshire Wolds, and strangely I find myself agreeing with you

    Re: threshold. I tend to warm up for 2km or so then do 5 or 6km at threshold (around 4:01-4:15 for me). Alternatively I finish off an easy 20km with 5km at threshold. I usually save intervals for 800m VO2 max work.

    Would you put more emphasis on Tempo runs or threshold? I do iron distance triathlons so fitting everything in is sometimes tricky.
    Great channel and thanks for the first impressions on the Hoka Bondi X. I was on the fence about getting some but think I might leave it for now.

    I bought the 80/20 running book you suggested over a year ago and I'm on run #60 of the first half plan. Yesterday was a 24 minute tempo run which I understand to be the same if not very similar to a threshold run? Anyway it was fantastic, it felt comfortably hard and fast.

    Me: I'd be running in Sarah's clothing and probably one more layer today in Canada. Ben showing the new gear - me: Do you make it in four layers and with attached mittens? Shorts? no way - my legs were cold in long pants yesterday.

    RE: Threshold. I'd not done them really before my last training cycle. So on the advice of a better runner, I added them in every other week, but I think I was doing them wrong!
    I was doing a 2k warmup and then trying to get 10K of Threshold in 1 go. Never got beyond 6.5km before blowing up. Next training cycle I'm thinking of dividing them up a bit. Maybe 2 or 3 reps of 5km. And see if I can drag them out to further distance (maybe 3 reps of 7 or 8km?) over time.
    Even though they were wrong, it definitely added some speed to my legs
    As for £4.50 for a sausage roll! Typical Dulwich prices! Have you guys never heard of Greggs?!?!
    Oh, and the best Park in London is EASILY Richmond! 😎

      It was £14 for two sausage rolls and two hot chocolates.. insane! I did joke about it on camera, but it didn’t make the final cut. If I wasn’t so hungry we’d have just gone home!

    I am a heavy beginner runner, and have just run three races, and treshold pace is pretty slow, but I am shure treshold running is key. But I allready understand why treshold sessions have to be properly paced and not overdo it. Norwegian runners like Jacob Ingebrigtsen are very strict about holding back not getting to much lactate. I think its the same for slow amateurs. But I really think one should run treshold sessions weekly almost all year long. I also think there's more and more evidence that one should do more treshold running and less speed and Vo2max training even for shorter races.

    If you are looking for good 10k to pace test, there is a “Chase the Moon” event coming up in Battersea park in November. Very good course for an even pace and to check your PB/pacing!

    Looks like the last one was too fast because You were chasing 3:whatever. Lactate would be above 4mmol which is what Ingebritsens dont want in any case ! Sorry for whining but this is exactly what I'm looking into now😁
