I've had a few mac minis but also use surface pro and windows devices. Keyboard Logitech KC780 (multi device, windows and mac keys, awesome) Mouse Logitech M720 (multi device) I had a 2TB Lacie for cold storage and storage for home media centre Satechi hub with 1TB Kingston SSD for hot storage Philips ultrawide 34 inch with USB hub in the monitor. (native resolution for macs) Getting the M4 soon and will keep it all but adding Seagate firecuda HDD drive 8TB (may turn in to NAS) I have like 7 homepod minis so that is what the mac sound goes to unless i'm using my focusrite soundcard. Reason I like mac mini is because everything is external and multi use, I sold my M1 mac mini and the amount of people coming from a 2017-2019 iMac wanting to buy it was problematic. I advised them on using the mac mini with their imac screen and using the imac as a slave but still. This is why I love the mac minis.
I use the Keychron K3 Pro wireless mechanical keyboard and Logitech M557 Bluetooth mouse. I also have the Acasis Swappable High-Speed SSD Storage & 10-In-1 Hub Docking Station connected to it for the extra USB-A port and HDMI for second monitor and I have a M.2 NVMe 1TB SSD, which I plan temporary swap for a 4TB SSD until I get a Thunderbolt 5 SSD enclosure or dock with M.2 NVMe slot.
Just from shopping about, as an alternative display to the Apple Display i'd highly recommend the DELL UltraSharp 40", its amazing and also has a built in KVM and docking station, and uses thunderbolt to connect.
Wow that one looks incredible. I wasn’t aware of it but that could easily be an all in one solution. I just got the LG dual up and have been running it with the studio display.
How do you update SSD firmware in an enclosure on M4/M4 Pro Mac? OWC supports internal/external SSD firmware updates on Mac. Samsung only supports external SSD (e.g., T7, T9) firmware updates. Other manufactures don't support SSD updates on Mac (you'll need a Windows PC).
I bought MacBook Pro and no accessories because I want keep my desk minimalism, but I found big problem is MacBook really not ergonomic always one of the situation that I had to lower the head to watch display or lift the arm to type, and with long time use it is really painful, so I want to shift to Mac mini.but there is hard to find a monitor close to MacBook monitor and small,i wonder why portable monitor is more expensive than big monitor
I got mine at release, wouldn't recommend anything other than the magic trackpad. It's amazing. My computer unlocks with my watch so I didn't get the magic keyboard. To note, it does come in black, not just the white color. For sound, I did the bose tv speaker and that is working amazingly as well.
Thank you for this video. I was considering picking up the M4 mini but you have convinced me that the M4 iMac is the way to go. I was not thinking of all the accessories that I would need to buy with the mini. I was only thinking of keyboard, mouse, and monitor. But add to that speakers, camera, microphone, and storage, it would be much more expensive. Granted, it would be much more affordable to replace any single unit that would fail, but the upfront cost for good components is hard to swallow. If I already had good components, the M4 mini would definitely be a dream purchase .
convinced me that the M4 iMac is the way to go. AH..nope, Consider this: take the base Mac Mini for $599 and use same specs to an 24" iMac $1,499 then you REALIZE you are paying $900 for a 24" screen. That's INSANE !!!
@@bennym1956 The $900 is more than just the monitor. It also includes the camera, speakers, keyboard and mouse. I am not very familiar with non-Apple components that pair up well, and are as good, as the Apple versions. If you can suggest a monitor, camera, speakers, keyboard and mouse for around $900, I would seriously consider the mini. Thank you for any help you can provide.
How would I connect my BenQ monitor? I have a dvi, hdmi, and usb port. I'm changing from windows to mac and there's so many add on's I need. Is it worth it? I just don't know. Time will tell.
I just got the Mac Mini but with the storage upgraded to 512GB. I primarily use a computer for photo editing and this is a big leap from my 2017 MacBook Pro. I also shelled out for the Apple Studio Display. I keep all my photo files on external hard drives anyway and the rest of my crap in the Cloud but even so, software bloat was using up a lot of the 256GB on my MacBook so I thoupping it to 512 was worth it. I’m looking forward to seeing what saetchi bring out as a dock as their version for the previous Mac mini was very good.
Probably moving from my 2017 5K iMac to a M4 Mac Mini Pro. Already have a extended Mac keyboard, Logictech mouse ( Apple mouse is a POS, bad Ergo ) and hub. Will buy any other monitor than the $1,500 Apple one., probably in $500-700 price range. Would love to use my iMac 27" screen but Apple bricked the Target Mode in my iMac, POS move by them!
Also the Apple "Globe | fn" key. The third party keyboard's fn button is different than Globe, there's an option to rebind it to act as a Globe, but some people might not like it.
Hey Folks, I am planning to buy a 2024 Mac Mini, could you please help me to put together a "budget setup" with monitor, keyboard, mouse, camera and speakers !! If it costs a lot, I will pick up iMac instead
Hi I don't know if you see these or not but I just joined and really liked your explanation of what your showing. I wonder if you can do a video of Curved Monitors I use the 32" one but can you give some pros and cons of different ones?? Thanks
Thanks for this video! How do you handle that that no working fn/globe key is on the other keyboards? I have the MX Keys S and with all the new window tiling shortcuts I have to use hacky solutions like Karabiner Elements to remap. (fn key is for stuff like F key swap etc.) Is there any of the 3rd party keyboards that comes with a functioning fn/globe key without additional software?

Any good 4k/5K monitors for black friday? also if you need a multiple monitor setup which usb c hub or cable do you use?
LG, ASUS, HP, DELL all go on sale on best buy! Not Sure about the hub but anything around $30-50 is the sweet spot.
Why are you suggesting T-bolt 4 peripherals for a T-bolt 5 device?
Because no tb5 docks exist yet.
@@adamtalkstech WRONG
@@adamtalkstech why do you keep deleting my comments proving you wrong?!
M4 itself is just TB4. TB5 is only on M4 Pro

Would I need to purchase a monitor with built in storage?
I haven't seen a monitor with built in storage
my favourite is a wired cheap mouse accurate and light. I don't like heavy mouse.
Logitech wireless is 2.4 GHz whereas Mac Mini M4 is, 6E (6GHz) airwaves. Does this not make a difference in favour of mac accessories.
You can either use the Logi bolt (but will need an adapter for the mac mini) or just use bluetooth.
Nicely done!
The Studio display is beautiful, but 60hz IPS panel, without even MiniLED at this price point is just painful...
Definitely room to improve but it’s a great display.
Isn’t two LG 5K monitors for the price of one Apple Studio Display a no brainer?
I would have to compare a brand new one to my studio display to know. I like my studio better than the ultra fine
Other than Touch ID and gestures there’s not much to them… basically other than the best features that you can’t get anywhere else…
