  • Amish Family pastor says that the new Pontiac Chieftan two-door hardtop was too fancy and had to go. So the family sold the new Pontiac to a family in McMinnville Oregon. This little Pontiac Hardtop has been in Yamhill County since it was new. And for many years it sat in a barn until it was removed by my friend Sean. For the last five years it has been stored in his barn. Only taking it out occasionally for a drive. The car starts right up and the transmission works very well. The brakes could use a little bit of upgrading but otherwise it's a pretty solid. What we're going to call a rust free car. There are no rust holes that we found in the car. Yes there is Rusty Patina but it's only Rusty Patina. I think I would leave the car as is and maybe repair the brakes so they work a little better. Maybe touch up on the interior. Keep the car nice and dry and it will stay like this for many years to come. Thank you for watching this episode of Rusty Duck Garage 317 V/8 Engine 1955

Seeing this fabulous car takes me back many years,to my childhood years - 1960,to be exact, when my father brought one of those home,a red and black 4 door sedan. It was a very well built reliable car, though the transmission did have to be rebuilt once.If I had this car,I would keep the original engine & transmission,if possible, since they both perform very well if they are in good condition.I'm pretty sure that this car does have the original paint;I clearly remember seeing them with that color combination. If finances permit,I think that it would be great to restore the interior, and repaint it in the original color, since the paint and interior are in pretty rough shape. You were very lucky to find one in such solid, mostly rust free condition - I would certainly buy at least one raffle ticket if you decide to raffle it off....

Rusty Duck Garage - Yes,I did see it - I love seeing that some of the fantastic cars from this time period did survive - I am not really able to get involved with an old car myself at this time, because I must care for a family member who is seriously ill and disabled - but I do enjoy seeing your videos about them - Please keep making more of these videos if you can...Thanks so much....

THE trans is 4 speed hydro and they can be pushed started cause they have a front and rear pump. H O was racing one of those 316 cu in. Pontiacs with Ram Air four heads home made tunnel ram with two Holly four barrels . putting out 500 hp , going thru the traps at 9300 r.pm. that was the early 70's .

I was wondering that too. Just put it one click down from neutral and it shifts itself. Hence automatic transmission.
