Soft pink, ivory, and cool whites are some of the core colors for cottage style. I spray my printouts with 2 coats polycrylic and let it dry before using on my project. it never bleeds. I love all of your projects. You do such beautiful work.

Silver or light gray cover dark colors better, and then you won't need as many layers of paint. It was just a little trick I learned.
