I picked up a used 2011 S4 6M. It already had a Miltek exhaust and APR cold air intake. I added APR Stage II tune, APR Ultracharger larger supercharger and crank pulleys and APR coolant performance system. I have 62k miles and love the car. You are spot on as the mods to gey 500hp out of the car were not expensive when compared to newer cars etc. If I use race gas the hp is even higher. Best Audi I have ever owned.
The ultra charger, tune, crank pulley and apr cooler system with labor came to 1,129. Since the car already had the exhaust, air intake and larger upper/supercharger pulley I estimate all of the upgrades with labor would be around 4-5k all in. I had my work done at South Shore Autoworks in Kingston, MA.
Great vid but if anyone here is going to go stage 2 you should upgrade your cooling. It will still work but anything over 60f outside it will pull timing to reduce HP after the first pull to protect the engine from heat soke. You may not feel it but its something to consider.
I have an A6 3.0t stage 3 dual pulley. Even with stage 1. Heat soak was a massive issue on the second pull. You need to do it. Did everything myself. Easy mods to do.
Don’t forget the heat exchanger upgrade otherwise you will over heat and trash the transmission and the high flow cats otherwise will destroy the engine that SHOULD have been done before the stage 2
@dg99004 you can get an upgraded radiator but an heat exchanger is separate which is the main thing to upgrade in terms of cooling. Awe, Ams, Revo all do some decent ones i have an AMS kit because comes with an extra coolant tank and separate pump too was well worth it. Don’t forget Evans Waterless Performance Coolant
Dont forget to add the 6-8 hours of labor youll be charged to take the front end off the car to put it in service mode, pull off the radiator support to drill and install the aftermarket heat exchanger thats required, bake the upper pulley in a toaster oven (required to install), and remove codes from the tune before starting the car or it goes into limp mode!
Didn't need to do the heat exchanger. Maybe a good idea if your down south or in a warmer climate... I have run it on hundred degree days without issue other than your to be expected lower horsepower from the thinner hot air.
Edit - So the stock cats clogged in January 2019 after 10-15k miles and we did the JHM high flow cats but they were a little loud so we put 4 inch mini resonators on the beginning of the down pipes.
Tune, heat exchanger, highflow cats or catless downpipes and air intake for more reliability, if dsg gives you problems, its typically going to be the mechatronic unit, which can be fully rebuilt to last for a few hundred £'s, stock clutches should be fine but with these cars you need to address the cooling on both the engine and transmission
My stage 2 450hp cost only $1100 total. Feels quite overpowered but I am not complaining. Can't stop laughing each time I push it. Faster than my 9114s.
King Louie the cooling has not been any issue for me. I thought to do it but I don't see a huge gain from looking at the numbers on apr's website. Also yes I am running stock catalytic converters. I had to change them at 85000 miles.
Suited Car Guy same here new cats installed Sold the UC, I read if you don't daily beat on the drive train and let the car properly cool after said beating the cats will last longer
@@suitedcarguy9883 The heat exhangers in the B8/B8.5 are only to prevent heatsoak. It doesn't help you gain any horsepower, it just makes it so that you don't loose any under hot days or prolonged use. As for the cats, Dual Pulley cars are known to destroy cats simply because of the much higher exhaust temps. This is also why a lot of guys switch to test pipes and APR going to release their high temp Cat.
Ask APR call them up they are very helpful, Ive had APR mods since 2005 never an issue on the 2.0T . Just got an S4 with higher milage we have done a carbon clean and everything else you can do on the front of the engine because of having to take the front bumper off and all - next onto new coils, sparks a couple of bushings and then a tune
Not a realistic cost number for the manual! You need an upgraded clutch for at least $4,500 to run stage 2+. Also will need a test pipe as the upgrade will likely fry your cats. That fix is costly too!
Been running for two years now with no upgraded clutch on the stage 2 ultra charger. And you are right the cat's did get clogged and needed to be replaced with high flows.
@@toneyclayton485 it doesn't usually break but when it does... 335i might have more problems and more frequently, but s4 problems are way more difficult and expensive to solve for diyer. @@toneyclayton485 I have heard how b8.5s are better, and they probably are to some extent. Truth be told, b8.5s are just not high mile yet. Last time I checked, average miles for 2010 were 80kmiles, I'd imaging 2013+ would be even lower. As for how it was taken care of, that sensor i was talking about does not have any moving parts and only was breaking down because of very high EGTs inherent to 3.0 tfsi engine ( remember, the right cat is not far from it). Look up s4 drive range sensor tsb, you'll find out it failed on b8.5s as well. I hear a lot on audizine forum how reliable the s4s are, yet there're many reported dsg and cats problems. Deacon Larger upper/supercharger pulley?? The smaller the supercharger pulley the more boost the supercharger makes. Crank pulley is bigger the better

Upgraded heat exchanger? I've heard u can't since it's mounted on the engine. Upgraded cooling means upgraded radiator on these.

Where have you been man
Loved the video. I have 2011 A7 looking to do the same thing you did. Did you do trans tune. ?
SCG has a stick, you can see him rowing through the gears...
If you have a DSG you will want to get a trans tune. Think it may even be required

Any issues during the 5 years?
It's an Audi. Of course he's had issues! ;^)

I have a 2011 S4 , want to do tune plus upper pulley ...do I need a heat exchanger or upgraded radiator or will it be ok ?
Thats the first thing I would do. Heat exchanger.
