Abbey is a match for Jed in mind and strength of spirit. She once told Leo's daughter against "falling for the geniuses" because they "never want to sleep". Jed's a genius, but Abbey clearly is one as well.

Abbey's work ethic is so beyond reproach here. It doesn't matter if you get dragged to court or you get convicted. You set the damn leg. And she isn't even being preachy about it, just stating a factual reality. This is the reason Sorkin's stuff is so addictive. It's about people doing their goddamn best no matter which side of the aisle they're on.

It's also a perfect example of his fatal flaw. He's a big picture person and he focuses his attention on what he considers important. That means he neglects the "little things" but those little things can turn out to be people. He needs people, like Abbey, to keep him grounded.

Obscure similarity here and I'm unsure what the West Wing/Discworld venn diagram is like, but there's a line like this in Night Watch. "You treat the patient right in front of you, or people die".

"Never mind" Abbey doesn't mind because he's just allowed her to have input on foreign policy, and given him a perspective he would not have otherwise seen. Which the preceding conversation shows us is important to her (apparently more so than the women's sewing thing)

Lmao you really think that JED BARTLET doesnt know, remember and knows the date of the Womens Caucus? You are either incredibly stupid or have no idea who this character is. That was a joke that Abbey just gave up on answering. Jed is extremely quick witted as is evidence with his joke about the cat who was a maid.

However they’re risking the health, future and lives of thousands of women across numerous states currently due to the draconian misogynistic laws currently in place to control female bodies and health decisions. Instead of treating the patients that are in front of them they are actively allowing them to bleed out, develop sepsis, suffer lifelong complications and die. I hope each and every one of these "doctors" gets sued for their negligent actions.
I miscarried in the early’00s, took a few days and a friend shoving a pregnancy test at me to figure it out as I have Endometriosis (which was undiagnosed at the time) so frequently had irregular, random heavy bleeding that included clots. I was also on birth control. When I was checked out I was very lucky that due to my Endo it wasn’t an Ectopic pregnancy (something I’ve since learned was a risk for me particularly) and that I didn’t require a D&C. I can’t begin to imagine how much more terrifying it must be to go to the hospital for help and for them to go "nuh huh shan’t unless you’re about to DIE"
I’ve never been as disgusted by so-called health professionals since whilst suffering extreme depression and ptsd from discovering my father dead from a stroke and being the one doing CPR until assistance arrived only to lose him two days later on my birthday whilst having just escaped a 5yr DV relationship where I was emotionally, psychologically, financially and sexually abused the "therapist" called into question what I had to be depressed about (as I was *such* a pretty girl don’t you know) but if I really wanted the assistance I needed my best bet was to stop fighting my suicidal thoughts, give it a go!, and that’d get me treated faster and at the necessary level.
Took me nearly a decade to give any mental health services a chance again.
