I first saw the full MW1000 at the Axminster Open Day and immediately asked Festool UK if I could borrow one. It only takes about 15 minutes to put together.
Excellent video! I put my new Festool MW 1000 together today before seeing this video. Using the included assembly instructions was worse than the instructions for IKEA furniture! But I managed it with some trial and error. I wish I had seen your video firest! It also gave helpful ways to use the MW 1000. Thanks again.

Hi Jeff, If I stacked shelves at the local supermarket 2 days a week I would have enough money for every tool that I could ever want and at least 2 holidays a year. It is only kind remarks, like yours, that keep me going. Cheers. Peter
Hey Peter, Thanks for taking the time and putting in the effort to give us another very informative and enjoyable video. Just in time for The holidays. May you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and healthy and prosperous New Year!
This actually looks pretty slick. I have two of the sys-rolls, and this looks much more useful. I especially like that the extension table attaches to the MFT/3. Hoping this shows up in the US soon... Thanks, Peter, as always for a great video!
I do not have the MW1000 and am unable to check. I would think it an odd combination as the Kapex has to be on a stand of some sort and that will have to be at the right height to get the surface of the Kapex at 900 mm. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop Thanks, Peter. My plan was to put the Kapex on the shorter MFT/Kapex table that is designed to bring the working surface of the saw up to exactly 900mm. Also useful for mobile workers is the fact that the saw surface is the same height as a Systainer 1 by design. Love your channel!
I can see the usefulness in this tool, perhaps repairs at a job site or even remodelers would find it useful as it is foldable and get the basic tools in one cart.
Hello Peter, very useful video thank u. I have a question. Does the extension Festool TSB/1-MW 1000 fit on the table saw from festool cs50? If so it would be a great feature combined table saw and work space.
Hi Peter. I have one which I got instead of mft3 and have used (van based) for couple of months now. Here is a few things I have noticed. It is heavy and when loaded with systainers is really heavy. Near impossible to wheel up stairs. I have to unload systainers at bottom of stairs and come back for them. The wheel base only just fits through UK standard doors and on many occasions I have had to carry sideways to fit in internal doors once in properties. Mine has numerous nicks n cuts out of rails on side as rails do get in way when trying to cut off edge when using carvex (a sacrificial plastic clip over for rails that makes flush with top would make this more versatile cause from top of edge of MDF top to free cutting space is quite a distance especially when trying to cut down length of for example a floor board). The adjustment feet on extension table rattle out and end up on van floor no matter how tight you do them up in transit. I use the mini sys for first aid kit in bottom so means now I actually have first aid kit on hand and not just in van. Getting in van is not an easy task unless you have an empty van and go through back door and lay it down as again is a very heavy unit. I do like it and is very useful (when on site)but it does need refining. Yes most of my tools are festool so not trying to use odd tools but still is a work table. Unfortunately I don't use as much as I had planned to as is such a pain to get on site and only use on larger jobs or houses and not flats(which is more the norm in cities) I have mentioned these to UK reps so hopefully these get passed on. Once is on site is very useful but not as versatile as could be unfortunately as I had hoped would be. If I was to do again for van based I would get mft3 and just use my sys carts etc to get tools on site.
Hi Brian, I have just had a look at the CS70 on the Festool web site and I believe they use the same extrusion as both the MFT3 and the MW1000. So, fingers crossed it should fit nicely. Peter
Two questions: Does it have the skids on the back like the sysroll for climbing stairs(maybe not needed it wheels stick out enough)? Are the wheels rubber(softer compound) or plastic like the sysroll? Thanks and great vid!
Talking of hand made I really like the Festool kapex workstation you made . Can I get plans of it . Can’t seem to find the private messaging you suggested using in the video
Hi Peter, RUclips did away with private messaging in July. They now have a fairly reliable spam trap that will put any comment with an email address in my spam folder which will not then be visible to the rest of the world. So far , this has been working at about 99% efficiency. Once I see a request for plans in my spam folder I send the plans and then delete the message. Any messages that get through will be deleted once I find them. Peter
I see why Tim went back to farming , I wonder when DeWalt's legal team going to get on the arms for the sliding drawers. Good vid Peter, but credit where credit is due.
Hi John, In the Festool video it shows it being slid into a van using a pair of plastic protectors built into the handle. The guy doing it was not a body builder either. Peter
The extension table can also be used with the CMS as an in feed out feed table. I've spotted a few people doing that. I've looked at the cart at various shows and it's just too expensive and too wobbly for me but no doubt they'll sell plenty.
No disrespect intended to Festool (some of whose equipment I use and greatly admire) - but I'm a site carpenter and this thing wouldn't last a month. It's just too flimsy, too fragile, and too time-consuming to set up. Park up the van, whip out two Toughbuilt fold-up steel trestles and half a sheet of sacrificial ply - and I'm good to go.
Nothing wrong with trestle and timber workbench Kevin. It's served me well onsite for 20 years! It depends what you do though. Tables/carts like this though provide more options where clamping and jigs are concerned. I do a lot of restoration to period properties decorative trim and windows these days. A more multifunction table is a must - I made my own. For the record, the MW1000 isn't that flimsy. And just because you work on site - i have for decades - doesn't mean you can't look after and respect you tools. Be mechanically sympathetic and your tools will last you years however tough the work.
Nice video as always Peter. Does the extension table have leveling adjustments on the leg? I would think it would need two to be able to level the extension table with either the MFT/3 or the MW1000.
Hi Daniel, Not at all. the OF2200 is a brilliant router. It is big but is so easy to control. It has a soft start-up and so does not jerk when switched on. I like it so much that I took it out of my router table in order to use it hand held. I put my OF1400 into the router table where it does a perfectly good job. If you do any kitchen work, especially work tops, you will find the OF2200 perfect for template cutting. Go for it ! Oh, and please let me know how you get on. Peter
Peter as always thank you for this great video, i got a question . Is it possible to combine the one leged extension Table to your CMS55 or Precisio CS70? Im thinking about getting the Festool Precisio Cs70 and would love to add the Table as an extension for ripping Cuts and using it as a small workbench. because my shop is not the biggest. Regards from Germany and sorry for the bad grammar
Your English is perfect - I worked for a German General for 5 years and he was always correcting my written English ! I know that the MW1000 extension table will fit the MFT3 as it has the same extrusion. It will also work with the CMS profile. I have had a look at the pictures on the Festool web site and the Precisio does look to have a similar profile. It might be best to ask a Festool rep. Knowing Festool they always like interoperability between products and so I expect the profile to be the same. Good luck. Peter
ediii89- I’ve combined the extension table to my Cs70 the plastic joiner sits in the v channel on the saw table, the tops are then the same height. I’ve then got my kapex on its stand the other end, just need to make a joiner to hold them both together so all three are joined.
He'll again Peter.. Its outside festool cuts svc hours so thought I'd reach out.. I have a festool QF1400. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to align the template bushing with the volley as it is out by about .035. Any ideas would be excellent.
Hi Jeff, It is possible but not easy and this is from memory. There are a pair of screws that fix the base to the chassis. There may be a bit of wiggle room if you loosen them, align things and then tighten. If that is not possible then the screw holes can be (slightly) elongated) but I have never tried this. You will need a centring mandrel. Peter
Peter, As always your explanation/demonstration videos are excellent....another brilliant design from Festool. I so appreciate that you keep us up to date on new products. I am anxiously awaiting your MARK II system. Will Lee Valley be carrying this soon or is it better to source it from Axminster? Thanks for all you do, and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Hi John, I do not know when Lee Valley will have it in stock but I am sure that they will get some stock in due course. Try the Axminster web site, choose your currency and you will be able to see all the shipping costs before you push the button. I think that you will be surprised by the good value of the shipping and it is getting stuff to people pretty fast. Many thanks for the kind words. Peter
Thanks again for another great tutorial video. This cart looks great and to compare with the home built version by Timothy. I feel for the money one would spend for this one vs the time and materials needed to build Timothy's, this might be a good option. The home built has advantages as well. For those that don't use Festool being one. As they can custom build the drawers to fit there needs. I've built Timothy's cart and will have to continue to use it, at least until Festool makes the MW1000 available in the States.
How do you tighten the shelf? Mine is still loose and not secure to the Workshop base. The instructions to assemble this Portable Workshop need to be addressed by Festool.
Hi Richard, If you lever out the green tabs outwards on the left and right of the rear part of the shelf you will see, underneath each, a little shiny wheel adjuster. Adjust that until you get the tension that you require. Peter
Hi Peter, another fantastic video, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to show use this mobile workshop. I am a hand tool user so maybe not for me but I understand that’s not what it was intended for. Perhaps Festool could provide metal straps for it like they do for your table? Do you know how much it costs all in? Cheers Dan
The MFT, even with the cross braces has quite a bit of movement with aggressive use of hand tools. It was not made for lots of heavy handplaning etc where you want something absolutely rock solid. For less aggressive hand tool and all power tool use it is absolutely awesome though.
It is very easy. You can create a new top with the 20 mm holes using the UJK Parf Guide System from Axminster Tools. The old top can be easily removed by undoing the 4 screws that hold it in place. Use the old top as a template to put the new small screw holes in the new top. Then fit the new top. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop thank you. My mobile table fell over in a weird way that knocked out all of the nuts and screws. I didn't even know what those nuts were (because they were laying on the ground. I had zero context... only screws, weird trapezoid nuts, and a seemingly useless Festool website. LOL
I thought Timothy's DIY MF-TC (Multi Function Tool Cart) was a better idea, have you ever watched his video Peter? Benchworks. he release it in 2016. His MFSC Multifunction Shop Cart was an amazing piece of engineering also.
He is a very clever chap and I agree that his original plan was very clever. The problem is taking a great idea like that and making it a commercial product which include ease of manufacture and so on. Cheers. Peter
I spoke with Timothy Wilmarts this morning about this and as I expected he was a perfect gentleman about festool "borrowing" his idea We all know out here in RUclips land as well as on the FOG that this is his design, I just think it should have been named after him if only out of respect , Like woodpeckers does Or your "parf dogs" Just my thoughts
Hi Billy, I was not aware of this and hope that you relay this on the FOG - it is important for people to know. It is a pity that Timothy did not find a manufacturing partner to make a real success of his product. I suspect, however, that his sales of MFTC plans will rise as people see the price of the MW1000 and the simplicity of his original design. Peter
@@billystray7007 As I just said below, great though Timothy's design is, there's nothing to indicate Festool/Tanos "borrowed" anything from him. Such portable DIY worktable designs have been around for years. Predating Timothy's. One that looks most similar to Festool's is this one by jzbowmannz on Instructables from 5 years ago! www.instructables.com/id/Portable-Worktable-Using-Compressor-Cart/
Hi Ray, Some of us watch Top Gear and will never get to own a Super Car ! Yes, I understand what you mean but I have yet to meet a professional Festool user who regrets buying into the brand. Peter
Great video, as always! Advantages of the MFTC is the long shelf underneath, the clamping using the legs, and storage for the track. I use the shelf all the time! His also has an extension table. MFTC is pretty substantial, but also heavier, I'd guess. This video made me wonder if Wilmot's design could be adapted to use extrusions. The Festool cart adjustable drawers are very cool and where Festool design shines. More than one is needed, as you note, Peter. Festool is a similar concept, but different in various ways. All things considered, I like the MFTC better, the long shelf is the main reason. I built two auxiliary tables. They store easily. Now, with the Parf guide, such tables can have the tops with accurate holes much more quickly made :)
@@NewBritWorkshop sorry, it was meant to be a joke, you've edited the video so that the green locking catches on the systainers rotate themselves without your help.
I have read all the comments below and my view is that Festool made an ethical and reputational error when they did not licence the idea from Tim. Bad bad show Festool - hang your corporate head in shame. ‘Festool - we are much more than a rip off’.
Hi Norman, I do not know that there is any evidence of this - do you think that it might be possible that Tim has received some compensation from Festool? Peter
Well I did preface as ‘my view’ and that is based on what I see in your video, Tim’s video and the comments here including from Tim himself. Are corporations innocent until proven guilty?
@@NewBritWorkshop Timothy Wilmots 5 hours ago @Billy Stray: They didn't have to as my designs are free to use. I only sell the plans. Though I can see that PR-wise it can be a bad move to risk giving the impression that you stole an idea, even if it's not true. The impression can be damaging enough.
I am relieved that Timothy has clarified the situation. I think both Festool and Timothy will win as there will be plenty of people buying the MW1000 and there will be even more who decide that Timothy's plans are more suitable for them. For Timothy, selling his plans will not take him away from his new farming job. Peter
I noticed someone else mentioned Timothy Wilmots MFT-C cart in the comments below but didn't post the link to his video, so here it is: ruclips.net/video/t5YzIwK-g0E/видео.html For those interested, Timothy sells the plans on his website: benchworks.be/en/projects/mf-tc-multifunction-tool-cart/
£677.......its almost like Festool egg each other on to add another nought to the price and see what they can get away with, ridiculous price for what any competent woodworker could make them selves for a few hundred.

How do you tighten the shelf? Mine is still loose and not secure to the Workshop base. The instructions to assemble this Portable Workshop need to be addressed by Festool.
Hi Richard, Which part do you mean? Is it the shelf that can be raised up and down or removed if required? Peter
It is the shelf that can be raised up or down@@NewBritWorkshop
Hi Richard, If you lever out the green tabs outwards on the left and right of the rear part of the shelf you will see, underneath each, a little shiny wheel adjuster. Adjust that until you get the tension that you require. Peter
Hi Peter, another fantastic video, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to show use this mobile workshop. I am a hand tool user so maybe not for me but I understand that’s not what it was intended for. Perhaps Festool could provide metal straps for it like they do for your table? Do you know how much it costs all in? Cheers Dan
Hi Dan, The prices are on the web site but a Google search will reveal cheaper options. Cheers. Peter
The MFT, even with the cross braces has quite a bit of movement with aggressive use of hand tools. It was not made for lots of heavy handplaning etc where you want something absolutely rock solid. For less aggressive hand tool and all power tool use it is absolutely awesome though.
How do you replace/repair the mdf tabletop?
LOL
You can use any small bolts or screws that you wish. Peter
Cheers. Peter
I spoke with Timothy Wilmarts this morning about this and as I expected he was a perfect gentleman about festool "borrowing" his idea
We all know out here in RUclips land as well as on the FOG that this is his design, I just think it should have been named after him if only out of respect ,
Like woodpeckers does
Or your "parf dogs"
Just my thoughts
Hi Billy, I was not aware of this and hope that you relay this on the FOG - it is important for people to know. It is a pity that Timothy did not find a manufacturing partner to make a real success of his product. I suspect, however, that his sales of MFTC plans will rise as people see the price of the MW1000 and the simplicity of his original design. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop I hope so as well
Its been spoken about on the FOG
Great video as usual Peter 👍
@@billystray7007 As I just said below, great though Timothy's design is, there's nothing to indicate Festool/Tanos "borrowed" anything from him. Such portable DIY worktable designs have been around for years. Predating Timothy's. One that looks most similar to Festool's is this one by jzbowmannz on Instructables from 5 years ago! www.instructables.com/id/Portable-Worktable-Using-Compressor-Cart/
Does the extension also attach to the CMS of CS-50?
I think that it will as the profile looks the same. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop The CMS and CS-50 lack the T-groove though.
Someone on the FoG said that it will attach, but not 'lock' as it does on the MFT.
It doesn’t even come close to MFT which is still best workbench Festool came up with . Both are at similar price tag.
I am now on the fence over this.... Cheers. Peter
Good video, however some of us can only dream of owning a Festool kit etc.
Hi Ray, Some of us watch Top Gear and will never get to own a Super Car ! Yes, I understand what you mean but I have yet to meet a professional Festool user who regrets buying into the brand. Peter
Thanks Peter
Cheers Ken.
Some excellent points - cheers. Peter
Those self-closing green things at 10:14 must be a new feature, mine don't do that :-)
I am not sure which items you mean - the systainers shown have since been improved with a front (suitcase style) carrying handle. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop sorry, it was meant to be a joke, you've edited the video so that the green locking catches on the systainers rotate themselves without your help.
Ha-Ha, I understand but mine do close themselves - don't yours ! Cheers. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop At the cost of nixing the whole Systainer height system. Good luck stacking the Sys^3 in a way that gives you the MFT height.
You need to ask Tim in order to get the truth. Before that is established nobody is guilty of anything except speculation.

@Billy Stray: They didn't have to as my designs are free to use.
Peter
it is good is isn't called the mw10.000..... the mw1000 costs 1.000 Euros...
Everything seems to have pegs/holes these days …
Festool; The Fisher Price of DIY.
Sad for Timothy for getting his invention ripped of by Tanos/Festool.
I bought a set of his plans and made two of them for work, they work great. He is a clever guy. Timothy's is better as it has the table attached.
I thought the same the second I saw the release photos.
Who’s Timothy?
Wrong link, look here; ruclips.net/video/t5YzIwK-g0E/видео.html

I noticed someone else mentioned Timothy Wilmots
MFT-C cart in the comments below but didn't post the link to his video, so here it is:

For those interested, Timothy sells the plans on his website:
benchworks.be/en/projects/mf-tc-multifunction-tool-cart/
£677.......its almost like Festool egg each other on to add another nought to the price and see what they can get away with, ridiculous price for what any competent woodworker could make them selves for a few hundred.
It would be interesting to know how much the MFTC costs to make and how long a competent woodworker would take to make it. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop id ask timothy willmots peter, its his idea they "borrowed"
Hi Peter, I hate to criticise but the editing spoils the video, I don't mind watching another minute or two..
Hi Jason, Many thanks for this feedback. I will try and be a little more careful. Cheers. Peter
