The final episode, with the absolutely perfect choice of Iris Dement's "Our Town" for the Very Last five minutes, always brings me to tears. Cicely was truly our town, and we were privileged to live there for 6 seasons. Unforgettable.
This is my all time fave TV series...great writing, great characters. Chris in the Morning was my perfect boyfriend. Loved that you added Ruthann's birthday dance with Ed, that was one of the best episodes.

Thanks for this vid (I got all the episodes; yet I like to see clips). So- where lay the uniqueness of that show, which was unlike anything else on TV? Why nothing similar has appeared since? Perhaps because it was a unique blend of a few elements that simply could not be put together again: humorous - satirical comment on life & everything (gay issues, ecology, ...); a whirlwind of cultural references, from Whitman and Dostoevsky to Proust and religion; a touch of magical realism & strong presence of fantasy element (the patron saint of the series was Joseph Campbell, referenced quite a few times); wisdom as the result of archetypal human crises & travails (fear of death, aging, falling in & out of love, jealousy, power games in interpersonal relationships, envy, status friction, loneliness, happiness in human communion & solidarity,..); music; great cast; ... basically, affirmation of life on earth, presented as something both abundant, exciting & hilarious, without fake "positivity" or nihilist cynicism. I don't think there will be anything similar. Just my $ 0.02.
