Streetlight has so many good original songs that are infinitely better than any cover. The lead singers original lyrics are very well written and thought provoking. You should def check out their original songs. 'A Better Place, A Better Time' is one of my all time favorites. The lyrics are very poignant. 'With Any Sort of Certainty' is also a really good one lyrically. As for the sound your refering to, rock with a brass twist, and that hop in the rhythm is 3rd wave ska. My personal favorite group is Less Than Jake, but there are a lot of good 3rd wave ska groups... Streetlight Manifesto, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, Mustard Plug, etc. Ska is one of my favorite genres and there's a whole rabbit hole to explore. Best 2nd wave was The Specials (imo), and best 1st wave was The Skatalites.

The Saddest Song is so overlooked imo, one of the greatest horn lines of all time

"Authentic Latin music" made me chuckle.
Streetlight is from New Jersey, fronted by a man born in Czechoslovakia, covering a song by a 1930s-style swing revival band from North Carolina.
I mean, I agree that Streetlight dips into more of Caribbean music styles than practically any other ska-punk band. It was just funny to hear them described as "authentic."

I like how she feels music differently it's great with 2 perspectives. I think that rock feeling your getting comes from the drums.

You ain't hearing things when you say they have a rock feel! Some members of this band came from the ska-punk band Catch22 in the 90s (I've been to Catch22 shows way back in college). Streetlight Manifesto are also third-wave ska with punk mixed in. Their album "Keasby Nights" is basically a redo (a re-recording) of Catch22's album "Keasby Nights"...all the exact same songs redone with mostly different musicians and some original members of Catch22. This song is a cover...the original version of this song is by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. I actually like both versions but SNZ is the original one.

Latin flavor with a rock feel? Congrats, you just found your way to ska! The question "Is Streetlight Manifesto ska" aside, this is in the neighborhood of ska (a mix of reggae and punk)

Please consider checking out the artist Ren and the song Hi-Ren. Crazy good, and a totally independent artist who's blowing up like crazy right now. You will be blown a way I guarantee it.

Hell doesn’t really represent what this band is about. Their original material is much better, stuff like point/counterpoint, would you be impressed, with any sort of certainty, ect.

I can't even call this a good cover. Saw this group sing this live and it was torture compare to seeing Squirrel Nut Zippers play it live.
