One thing you might check, if the tank straps are to tight it will pull the bottom of the tank up restricting the pick up. It’s really a common issue more than you’d think. My S10 Blazer tank I don’t remember having those baffles. They should have openings allowing fuel to freely fill the area.
It has two holes...maybe 1/2 in the bottom. Thats something else ive thought about. Maybe enlarging those holes and prying up a bit on the bottom of the baffle to allow more flow in from the bottom.
If you buy 2 small hydramats, it'll be like 250 total. Other options add a pump on a second pick up a at the back of the tank and send it to an external pump that you can put on a switch if you know your gonna get on it and a Hobbs boost activated switch for more power
Bought a 31 gallon Sub/Blazer tank and will be putting an OEM 2018 Chevy Truck pump in for my 72 C10. Everything is on the pump. Any forseen things I should look out for?
I just finished doing a rear mount tank in my LS swap Sierra. The blazer tank is 30 gallon and i used my factory sending assembly and upgraded to the high pressure fuel pump into the assembly. I poured roughly three gallons in and got it started but it was barely pumping any fuel. I measured my orginal tank vs the blazer tank and realized the blazer tank is an inch or so deeper so i have roughly 2 to 3 gallons in the tank that will not get pumped if needed. I will correct this at a later time but this may help someone when they are considering the blazer tank. I like the idea of having that much capacity and only one tank. The other thing is this could be the issue some folks are having. I also corrected the issue with slow filling from lack of a proper vent. I added a vent port on the tank to allow air to escape when filling. Hope this helps someone. Great video.
I'm doing this now and decided to go with the vettworks op ring adapter. That way you can use a pump from a late model Vette (c5) that has a fuel pump sump on top of the baffles!
I will have to keep that info about the k5 blazer fuel tank in mind. I have the 30 gallon k5 tank and I am sure it will be a problem when I build or boost the 5.3.
Bad Luck Garage I think it’s about the same height but I can’t remember. I used the stock pump assembly with walbro 255 and modified a universal fuel gauge sending unit (with correct ohms) to work with my autometer gauges. Btw I am planning on making a 30 gallon (or maybe a 25 gal) tank fit in the 54 bel air lol.
I was looking at doing a blazer swap tank in my C15 swb truck but at 26 “ for the tank my diff would hit it. How did you manage to get a blazer tank in yours ? Did you move the back crossmember ?
So glad I found ur channel I actually have a 77 big ten that I'm putting a 5.3 in and I had been thinking about using a blazer tank but couldn't find much info till I found ur videos and I think I'm still going to run one Instead of replacing 2 of the bigger saddle tanks cuz like u said better traction and I look forward to seeing if u solve this problem
May go that route if I can’t make the baffle work. I’ve had fuel cells with the foam before. Only bad thing is the foam breaks down over time, especially with modern fuels and this is something I plan to keep long term so I’m more interested in a long term low maintenance solution. I’m actually thinking about a TanksInc drop in style setup. Of course I’ll be replicating it myself, not buying it. Lol
They do sell a synthetic foam which I used that is sapose to last longer but who knows... I'm in the same boat as you I've has my truck since I was 13 I'm now 30 and plan to drive it as much as possible now that it is boosted but I'll def be interested in seeing what you come up with.. I'm a welder fabricator by trade so I'm like you I do all work myself but if I go any faster than I plan the track will make me put a fuel sell in so we will see what the future has in-store for me I'm currently plumbing the cold side of the turbos as I'm typing this
I have the 87 efi saddle tank, and it doest work any better. Switching to non efi tank and a Holley hydramat to solve this issue. Also considered just adding a surge pump. It's definitely not the blazer tank
This IS an 87 efi tank. We do things on the cheap over here so the hydromats not an option.lol Hopefully extending the baffles and enlarging the feed holes in the bottom of the baffle will do the trick. 😉
Muffler clamps don’t work well when you got turbo exhaust power. When all that purple and blue turbo exhaust goes through the pipe it blows the clamps loose. Then sparks fly and shit rattles before you hit the bridge for your first jump
Like I said in the video, I didn’t want the noise of inline pump. Also didn’t want a bed fill. Blazer tank allowed use of stock in tank pump and pickup. Also, I never planned to turbo this thing, lol.
You can do in tank pumps w/ a cell. Fab your own hanger/bracket if cost is an issue. You can do fill neck to work with the plumbing, and vent, etc. Super easy and cheap. If you can do exhaust, you can EASILY do your own fuel system. Fuel delivery is #1 with turbo motors. Don't do -6 like this guy, but otherwise it's good stuff! I'd use -10 out of the cell and neck down to -8 or -6 and add a return line and vent. ruclips.net/video/x99sYDVraks/видео.html
It’s a good suggestion if I were starting over but we’ve already went this route now and everything has been fabricated for the blazer tank so I think I’ll just change the baffle and call it done. 😉

yea thats more than I have in the whole fuel system, lol. Also, as I mentioned in the video, I dont want the noise of an external pump.

I just bought 31 gal suburban tank for my c10, do you have any updates on how it worked out?

Thanks for sharing brother!
Your welcome brother!

Actually I’m using the 25 gallon tank. I’m wondering if maybe the baffles are taller in the 30 gallon since it’s a little deeper. 🤔

John actually put a 65 mustang fuel tank in the 54 then built the trunk around it. That whole process is in another video. 😉

Yes.

Hello Ryan Chapman, Thanks for watching! And the problem will definitely get solved.....eventually,lol.
Bad Luck Garage I know the feeling I'm basically doing a full restoration on my 77 got it for 2 hundred and keep finding problems to fix but I love it
Take baffles out and put fuel cell foam in... I have that in my twin turbo c10 with a blazer tank

Do you think on a cruiser the fuel tank would work?
yes
Muffler clamps don’t work well when you got turbo exhaust power. When all that purple and blue turbo exhaust goes through the pipe it blows the clamps loose. Then sparks fly and shit rattles before you hit the bridge for your first jump
LMFAO! right!!!
HunterTuned I thought that was NOS?
Why not just a budget fuel cell? Safer, no slosh, etc.

I freaking knew it, I have bitch hands. Love the vids man, truck is awesome even tho it's a chebby.
LMAO. Thanks brother! 👍
You need to run a sump on the tank so it draws it out the bottom not the top
Im running a 40 gallon suburban tank in my 77 k20 and had that issue until i went to a sump. No more issues.
