It baffles me that our fans are that obsessed with transfers that they'd prefer to sign some random from Sporting Lisbon, or Lille, etc, over giving our OWN players a chance.
Let's look at it from a different perspective here. Let's say Sepp Van den Berg doesn't belong to us. We never signed him. Fast forward to this summer and we're looking for a CB. Our scouts have come back with glowing reports on a 22 year old Dutch lad playing every game for Mainz, he's their best defender, first name on the teamsheet. He's put in MOTM performances against the likes of Dortmund, Bayern Munich etc.
He's powerful, tall, good in the air, good on the ball, lighting quick and good in the tackle. By all accounts, the reports are glowing from Germany.
Now, I guarantee you those same fans who are wanting him sold now, just so we can sign another CB, would be begging our owners to just sign this Dutch lad!
Point being that we're so obsessed with new shiny transfers that we'll happily let go a player who could be a gem, just to satisfy the transfer itch.
It makes no sense whatsoever. Think about it, we got Matip from Schalke. Van den berg has been playing at the same level as Matip was at that time, yet we're all just willing to let him go without even seeing him start a game for us?? Madness. Give our own players a chance ffs. The lack of support from our fans for our own players is shocking. Especially if it involves wanting a new transfer.
Just another quick one. What makes you all think a player like Diomonde, for example, would be better than him? Or Inacio? On what evidence? I'll tell you. They're shiny new transfer names who you lot instantly put on a pedestal above our boys.

honestly looking at the options out there we are better off putting trust in Bajcetic and Morton with Endo supporting them cause they proved they have the potential to claim that spot just need that faith and somebody willing to work with them, will save us so much money, buying some random player would just halt their progress and hurt their careers, its highly unlikely anybody we buy would be truly world class and worth it, Bajcetic has that world class potential, Morton perhaps as well but at the very least looks like a player thats gonna be reliable

Apologies, I have a lot of things to comment on🤣
I'm surprised none of you spoke about Danns🤔. If anyone made an impact last season under Bradley and Quansah, it was him!
Doak - I have a bit of a feeling that Slot could really like Doak! He seems to love pacy wingers that can go past a defender, and Doak could definitely be useful in the latter stages of games when there's tired legs. Could be a decent weapon.
Danns - I really hope Slot gives Danns his fair share of minutes this season. I feel that the lad is REALLY special. Out of all the academy lads, I think he's the most talented, and that's a massive compliment. It's been a while since we've seen a kid coming into the senior squad and having such composure and positive arrogance. Strolled on and just tucked away a couple goals like he was playing in the park with his mates.
He's got a lot about him this one. He has a belter free kick, decent in the air, good feet, and his type of finishing just can't be taught, it's natural.

Sepp van den Berg - I bought the hype before we signed him and was somewhat disappointed with what we saw, but he was so much younger and it sounds like he's finally made an impact last year. Maybe he was going through a period of physical growth and he's also had good coaching at Mainz. Nonetheless he's been making unstabling sounds before pre-season and so I don't think he's a strong-keep level player, although Slot hails from his hometown and so maybe he could coach him better and persuade him to stay.
Can you guys get a decent free-standing microphone? Yet another Deep Dive sounding like it was recorded from inside a tent down to Josh's mic catching on his shirt. While you're at it... Dan could you lend Josh some of your eyeliner, his fair eyelashes could do with your definition.
Carvalho - we might yet see Slot's side play to his strengths, he could be like Harvey this year and be a super sub. But Josh's point about who he'd keep out of the side is a very good one. If we sold him to another Premier League side, we'd have to have some kind of a sell-on clause surely?

Why? He isn't anywhere near as good as our midfielders? Bobby Clark and Bajcetic are levels above him.

    Doak is a slot winger.
Right footed on the right wing.
You guys keep acting like Slot plays Klopp football.

If this is what we have to look fwd to, the future is not bright, none of these kids are on the same level as Owen, Fowler or Gerrard, they are squad players at best not world beaters

Neither was Salah took him until Fiorentina loan and then Roma at 23 to really show he could be world class. VVD was a late bloomer too, playing in scottish league at 23-24. Robertson was playing in 4th at 18, and was relegated with Hull before coming, nobody expecting him to become world class. I'm pretty sure if we talked about them last summer you would have said to get rid of Quansah and Bradley because they were nobodies despite entering their 20s.
Doesn't mean everyone of the youngsters is going to make it, if anything i expect we're most likely going to be surprised by who actually makes it, but not everyone is Mbappé, Messi, Ronaldo and perform at the highest level at 18-19yo.

Gerrard wasn't that good straight away you have to give them time but your lucky to get 2 good youth academy players coming though

How on earth do you know none that? Stupid statement. Trent never got his place right away. Gerrard certainly wasn't a superstar at 18. Owen was a complete unicorn, rarely do you ever get that level breaking through.
The issue is, football is such a results driven business now that none of our youngsters will be really given a chance to be the next Owen. There's no new Owens in world football, never mind Liverpool. They aren't given a chance anymore, just all loaned out.

I think carvalho is more promising then Curtis jones or Elliot at this point , but never know they could blow up with this new system

Really? Jones and Elliot have held their own and then some when called upon. Carvalho hasn’t and was loaned out because of that..

@@1whippple1 idk I just feel like Curtis and Harvey aren’t great defenders and are good at general play but don’t score or assist enough to be starting for us
