It's not awkward believe me....maids are pretty friendly to foreigners, but don't expect to get as much attention as Japanese costumers because part of the service is conversation and if you don't speak Japanese then they will just not talk to you as much

As a person who grew up In Japan I love these maid cafe's! I went to one before with my friends and it's really fun! The people who work there are super nice like you see in the video and it's just a great experience!
I recommend the maid cafe "heart of hearts". It is especially genuine. The maids don't speak english, but they'll use a translation app to connect with foreign visitors. Also some of them are members of the idol group "future hearts" and they all support each other so lovingly.

I went to Maidreaming 2 in Akihabara once and it was THE weirdest thing ever. The staff were really nice, but god was it ackward. I bought my girlfriend a bunny shaped icecream...and the maid blessed it with a little love song and dance...😂

Haha, I worked in a clothes shop in Utah with a good friend of mine, I'm from Switzerland and she is from Japan. We were always joking about how messy Americans were when trying clothes and just leaving pile of clothes in dressing room floors for the employees to clean up after. She quit last week and another co-worker complained "aw, did you know Tammami quit last week" and I answered "What did you expect, she moved last year from a country where people respects each other and try not to be a bother for others, and then she starts working here with our customers each day being like: I don't give a crap and just leaving everything on the floors, lol".
