I once had pierced/perforated eardrum. I was forbidden to swim too. If you’re going scuba diving, Jake can perhaps take a dip without swimming or diving just to have the water experience. Just make sure he will be wearing earplugs. They’re cheap and available in drugstores.

I hope you guys get used to bidet America slowly catching up. After the pandemic for past 2 years more Americans are getting used to bidet instead of toilet paper because of toilet paper shortages.
