    Hello Roger! I will miss the vacuum of the month, but understand and support your choices. As for suggestions, I’d Love to see videos with your tips/tricks for above floor cleaning, upholstery cleaning and which vacuums/accessory tools you like best. Also I’d love to please see a video showing the use of all those lovely Vorwerk Kobold VK200 accessories, especially that cool mattress cleaning powder system! The video I’d most like to see you make, could you please show us a detailed video how you maintain and clean your vacuums! How you clean the bagless models, wipe them down, Vuplex (spelling?) and make them look so sparkling brand new! Until I found you here my friend (years ago now) I thought I was the only person that cleans and waxes my vacuum cleaners! 😂 Lastly, would you please make a video showing your most ideal vacuums, mains powered and battery, that are specifically best for hard floors only. In the USA the trend has been hardfloor throughout homes and a large percentage of vacuums don’t perform well on tile, wood or vinyl flooring. Just all thoughts and I’m asking you with respect and kindness. I truly TRULY appreciate you Roger, I’m grateful for your videos and for many years now I’ve truly enjoyed watching you “Hoovering!” ❤ You brighten our days and most importantly, you give us Vacuum Cleaner Collectors a voice and help us feel normal and important. You’re a great person Roger and we all Love you my friend! Any videos you decide to do in place of the VOTM will be appreciated! I have a G4 and love it and tried the E1 out but found the same problem with the hose. I decided on a Miele C2 instead because of its ergonomic ease as well as the brilliance of its SUB20 optional dusting tool. I no longer use dusting cloths unless I’m polishing furniture as I prefer all of the dust particles to go into the bag.
    Roger, I think a a wonderful format for this year might be if you perform side by side comparisons between competitive vacuums in the present market.

    I just bought one today. I'm in USA and yeah, dang expensive. By the way, the purpose of the tapered hose is to decrease clogging. If something makes it into the hose, it will probably make it all the way out of the hose. Your idea of putting an LED strip in front is a great idea, I wish it had that.

    SEBO USA told me the handle's brush on-off switch was introduced in Australia and then to the USA. It works quite well on my E3, though the earlier hoses had some plastic fitment issues. The hose switch shown here is very similar to what is used on the D4 -USA E3's used a slider switch with a definite off position. Yes, the E3's tapered hose has proven a handfull in cramped spaces (very stiff and easy to trip over).

    I was really tempted to get it but apparently in time it suffers from leaking suction at joints, where head connects with wand and hose. It's a problem with all Sebo's cylinders. You can hear air hissing and it stops when you press parts tighter together.
    A bit shocking that they still haven't come out with any anti hair wrap. So what that you can remove brush roll if there isn't any grove to remove the hair. Instead hair is really tightly wrapped and it takes ages to clean.

    I like my D4 but he ET-1 needs an update. It needs to spin faster/have more power. I do think the Sebo would outclean anything out there if the PN was a real good agitator.
    I really like the PN of the rainbow E2 Black. It spins fast and has reserve power also.
    The D4 tips over on me far too often. Maybe because its too large for my house. I have a decent sized home but only 2 rooms that have quite a bit of open area besides the kitchen. A longer hose is the real fix though.

      @sebo_up_and_down Год назад

      In the UK and Europe the ET1 is fitted with either a 175 watt motor or latterly some models come with a 90 watt brushroll motor. In my experience both versions do a great job though the 90 watt models -introduced to keep energy levels within EU compliance - are more prone to stalling under heavy load such as deeper pile combined with high suction. My experience matches those seen by Roger here with his 90 watt example. I have not experienced such problems with the 175 watt version which copes with everything I can throw at it. Brushroll speed needs to be carefully considered and controlled - too high and excess friction may burn or melt fibres, too low and agitation will be insufficient to dislodge dirt.

Its paid for itself at least 10 times cleaning up spills especially red wine and a litre of Gloss paint, I used several bottles of turpentine and actually sucked it all out before detergent cleaning and surprisingly didn't explode. Things are breaking on mine just wear and tear and Im not paying the ridiculous distribution prices so Its time for an upgrade. I find it such a strange thing that SEBO doesn't go to HEPA type filtration. Its so ubiquitous, and just that little extra bit of filtration certainly would help SEBOs come up to par with companies like Miele.

      I thought Sebo had superior construction to Miele?

    • @sebo_up_and_down
      @sebo_up_and_down Год назад

      Sebo do offer Hepa type filters for some machines in some markets. As I understand it they have not proven popular with consumers as the filter medium makes the filter more expensive to replace and the service life of the filter before it reduces suction due to clogging was lessened. I feel that Sebo offered the Hepa filter options only to appease those customers who demanded them - not because Sebo thought they were needed or improved performance significantly over S-Class filtration which traps almost all dust and allergens anyway.

    • @AfterDark33
      @AfterDark33 Год назад

      @@sebo_up_and_down As far as I understand it, Sebo consumables are by far the most expensive I've seen of any premium vacuum company save for Dyson. HEPA Media is so ubiquitous that simply by the virtue of the scale its produced at means that it can be very inexpensive and at this point most companies have bags and filters that are as clog-resistant as you can realistically get. I'm just guessing its Sebo just being a bit proprietary with their filtration. Not saying S Class is bad, but it is inferior to HEPA media.

    • @sebo_up_and_down
      @sebo_up_and_down Год назад +5

      @@AfterDark33 Sebo originally designed their filtering systems around a European S-class standard which required three elements, ability to stop 99.9% of particles of 0.3 um, an electrostatic filtering layer and an effective seal to prevent filter bypass. This was a standard used by hospitals to ensure clean air for operating theatres etc.
      So called Hepa filters are usually made from media designed to stop between 99.95% to 99.97% of particles of 0.3 um. However there is no standard for how well a a Hepa filter is sealed. It is a media standard only.
      In practical use the difference of using an S-class system compared to a well designed Hepa system are negligible in my opinion.
      Both systems will stop 100% of particles of 1.0 um with typical dust and household allergens being composed of particles larger than this. Both filter systems can not stop all particles such as 0.1 um viruses or bacteria though some will be attracted and stick to any electrostatic layer present.
      Here in the UK Sebo Ultrabags are typically £1.50-£2.00 per bag. By comparison Miele HyClean bags are typically £3.00-£4.00.
      A comparison of filter prices is harder to gauge due to the large range of options.
      I would expect to pay upto around £30 per year for filters for a top of the range Sebo cylinder. A comparable Miele filter set upto around £40. I don't think these prices are excessive and the genuine bags & filters are good quality.
      My knowledge and experience of Dyson products is fairly limited as I've never owned one and only used one briefly after doing a repair for a friend. I was far from impressed and I'm not surprised that their filters etc are expensive.

Prior to the 'boost' models coming to market all the Premium machines with an ET1 had the Felix style speed control in the UK and Europe. I suspect that to save re-engineering of machine and hose connectors and using their usual wiring configuration Sebo could electronically control speed and boost more simply using this button layout. I too prefer the Felix type switch and I wouldn't mind a brushroll control on the handle rather than on the ET1.

    Over a thousand dollars and they’re still worth it. 🤦🏻‍♂️ my shark didn’t last 18 months and good luck getting anything done about that. They deny every warranty claim. According to them if it stopped working it’s your fault. Don’t even understand the point of offering the trash warranty they do offer. 🙃
    I went and paid the grand for it as it’s cheaper in the long run being it has a 10 year warranty.

    How often would you replace the brush bar? I’ve had mine for two years now and it doesn’t really lift the pile of the carpet anymore?

      There is a measurement to take on the brush roll. I forget what it is but it needs to extent at least an 1/8” past the bottom of the nozzle. That measurement might be in the manual.

      Over time these brushrolls do show signs of wear. The bristles themselves don't seem to shorten significantly in length but can soften, bend or splay so cleaning performance reduces. This wear is monitored by the electronics of the machine and the yellow or red brushroll light will begin to flicker a lot while the vacuum is in use on carpet with a worn brush. This alerts the user that it is time for a new brushroll. New genuine Sebo brushrolls are not expensive and easily sourced so I suspect you having a swap to a new one will reinvigorate your grooming.
      I will say it is not unusual for the brushroll light to flicker on and off in normal use depending on floor type but if the light stays more on than off and the carpet height adjustment is correct then a new brushroll is certainly indicated.

      @@sebo_up_and_down Hello may I ask you for advice? You seem to have expertise on Sebo's. I want to buy a Sebo canister vacuum for my cleaning business. Which model would you recommend?

      @@sevendeadlychins Personally if I were to have a cleaning business in need of a cylinder type machine I would probably go for a Numatic. If it has to be a Sebo then the D8 Professional is an excellent machine. However purchase and running costs for your Sebo will be significantly higher especially with high use in a business. In a domestic environment I would always go for a Sebo.

      If you buy it direct from Sebo which is the most expensive way of buying a Sebo vacuum unless they have a promotional offer. It’s £419 from other retailers.

      Sebo do state that their warranty is only valid if you buy direct from them or from an authorised dealer. I have seen the E3 Premium from an online store that states they are a Sebo authorised dealer with a 5 year guarantee selling for £419. Personally I have never had to use the guarantee on any of the Sebo models I own, though I have had to claim a repair on a Miele powerhead model I have.

      @@ibaisaic i know, I have had a Felix for 8yr and it’s only needed new bags and filters but it’s always nice to have that piece of mind/notion that if anything DID go wrong, I have protection. I’m selling off a few vacuums in my collection and decided to use some of the money from them to get a new main “daily” machine. Is the e3 worth it or should I get the K3? Since its cheaper. Thanks for the help 🙏🏻🫶🏼

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  Месяц назад

      The E3 is a newer model but is let down by the bulky hose and inconvenient power buttons. The K3 Premium is easier to handle with a slide control to turn the machine on and off and vary the power. New versions are coming out with different controls on the handle, but it may only be the addition of a powerhead on/off switch. If you decided to import a Miele from a different country as you were thinking, then it’s unlikely it will have any sort of guarantee.

    Really disappointed with this cleaner. I bought one for my mum about a year ago but have just found out she rarely uses it because it's so poor picking stuff up.
    The suction isn't that great when you just put your hand to the hose without any head on but it's strong enough to pick stuff up. As soon as one of the heads goes on there's just not enough suction - the ET1 (featured here) being worse than the standard head. I've checked for blockages etc. but the thing's practically brand new, it just seems like the design of the head must mean that the suction disperses between the hose and where the roller is.
    If you're looking for a new cleaner - AVOID!
