- I have been told to react to this song more than any other. So not only am I doing that I decided to listen to the live performance. I hope you guys enjoy!
Keep Rocking
I was at that show when I was 14 and when Jimmy did that guitar solo I was mesmerized and the crowd were left with their mouth open in awe! Jimmy Page the genius of the band that he created and who also produced every single Led Zeppelin album!
❤

At least I got to see Page and Plant on the last tour they did in 1998... but I’m definitely jealous of anyone who saw the band in their prime. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for anyone who got to have that experience, I just wish I had been born earlier ;)
@@JU5TINPDX I saw that tour as well it was amazing!
@@bnd4ever48 I hate you ! Out of jealousy of course lol
You’re listening to the most requested rock song in FM radio history. No way could it be overrated.
There is nothing over-rated about Led Zeppelin....they are the GOAT, and you have barely scratched the surface.
Yes Yes so true
I was at a park in my neighborhood when a friend of mine pulled up and he just bought the brand new zeppelin 4 tape and he said you've got to hear this and played stairway to heaven and I can't believe it was around 50 years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday. Love this song and the memories it brings me now
This concert was at Madison Square Garden, NYC, 1973...
I always say to these reactionists when they land on this one... Congratulations! You just listened to the undisputed, undefeated, champion of all Rock songs....and you shld have started with this one. ;)
I actually love this more now than in high school! Remember the late 70s they were played constantly, kids in school yards, etc
They are simply the best...especially live! Gotta do more live Zeppelin! Try anything from Madison Square Garden or In My Time Of Dying from Earls Court! All killer!! This is the MSG concert in 1973. Jimmy Page...the best guitarist of all time!
Yes In My Time Of Dying a must reaction.
coolest hair too... sorry robert
Kashmir Knebworth 1973 or some other songs from Royal Albert Hall in 1970 are fantastic too!
I saw Led Zeppelin in Michigan in 1977 and I will never ever forget it
Very good reaction!! You gotta do "Since I've been loving you" live at MSG 73. Same concert and probably one of their finest pieces of music
Yes a great one!
Definitely my favorite live performance, the passion of their love of blues really shows in that song. You not only see it, you feel it, I get chills several times throughout that song.
There is nothing that can match any Led Zeppelin live performance. Looking forward to more live reactions!
Robert was suffering from a strained vocal cord during this performance. This was at Madison Square Garden and was recorded for their movie The Song Remains the Same.
Great reaction.
This clip is from their concert movie called The Song Remains the Same (they also have a song with the same title). It was filmed over three days' performance at Madison Square Garden in 1973, however the film wasn't released until 1976. The film also has some backstage scenes and each member had his own "fantasy sequence" (including their manager, Peter Grant) which was their own self representation. The sequences came about because there were several problems during the filming so they needed something to fill the gaps. Sadly, they don't have video for every song but I hope you do watch what there is.
IMO couple of highlights are Since I’ve Been Loving You and Song Remains the Same/Rainsong (gotta play those last two together...).
@@CliffinAZ The Rain Song is one of my absolute favorites, however I've never liked Robert's fantasy sequence during it; it feels too hackneyed for my taste and I feel detracts from the beauty of the song. Don't get me wrong - I adore Robert, but this was an absolute rare time, it didn't work for me. Don't forget the 28 minute Dazed and Confused - that is a tour de force MONSTER!
Henrietta Skolnick, yeah I’m not a huge fan of the Robert Plant fantasy sequence either-but the performance itself is excellent. So is Dazed, but I actually think I prefer the (somewhat shorter?) Royal Albert Hall version. That might also because Robert’s voice sounded so much better in it. By ‘73 he had sustained permanent vocal damage-although his voice in TSRTS still sounds a lot better than it would by ‘75...
Vg reaction; it is so uplifting to see younger generations appreciate how sublime Zep were. to this day they are the benchmark, iinspired myself and so many others it's shocking. they were just that good. So much going on in this track its crazy, starts off folkish, zep did more folk music than people think. they literally did it all. I like how you noticed how good they ALL were. lot of folk miss the subtleties of what they are actually doing, how the song plays out. how any bands do u know that plays half the track w/out perecussion? I almost said this is as good as it gets but nooo, they did so much more, consistantly too. 4 hardcore musicians at the top of their game from day one.
I, for one, appreciate your insight of the music. I was fortunate enough to be around when they came out (I'm a day older than dirt) and have listened and appreciated it for 50 years. I'm pleased to see a young buck like yourself have an opportunity to listen to the greatest rock band of all time.
pay attention to how often jimmy has his eyes shut or isnt looking at the guitar!!
This band had so much swag it was lethal 😎 I can never take my eyes off of Page.
Love him!!
Robert sings “The Piper’s (points to Jimmy) calling you to join him.” Band members: Robert Plant (vocals, harmonica), Jimmy Page (guitar), John Paul Jones (bass, mandolin, keyboards, and other asst. instruments), John Bonham (drums).
There was no doubt the song would win you over. They are Led Zeppelin. It's been over 50 years and no band has supplanted them.
I never thought that would be true. Now I think they might be the best forever.
I was 21 when this song was released in 1971 and, for a while, a few years, well, a LONG while, most of my generation scoffed at the song. It was just played ALL THE TIME initially! But, obviously, this puppy has staying power and it is a hoot seeing and hearing you young guys (and ladies) find the magic of Led Zeppelin. (Check the studio version and then watch Heart's version in front of the surviving Zeppelin members at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012. Avoid the edited HD version.)
Well, you can't get more iconic than led live doing stairway.
A factoid i learned today, Jimmy founded the band Led Zep(pelin).
More about Jimmy from google: "Page began his career as a studio session musician in London and, by the mid-1960s, alongside Big Jim Sullivan, was one of the most sought-after session guitarists in Britain. He was a member of the Yardbirds from 1966 to 1968. When the Yardbirds broke up, he founded Led Zeppelin, which was active from 1968 to 1980."
With no internet and no cable tv as a teen all i needed was a good pr of headphones and some Zeppelin and i was set. Theses songs are part of me rock on
Great reaction and comments. To see the band really work together live, you should react to Whole Lotta Love live at MSG. It's the same concert as this one.
Whenever I watch this I’m transported back to 1975 & 1977 and seeing them live. I still have an emotional response to it.
Memories of the entire experience come back. Thanks for playing it and your thoughts on it. Try listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn “Life Without You” Live Passaic NJ 1985. Amazing performance.
I totally understand what you mean about his Vocals. I learned that a long time ago in Chorus because you have to Learn Control or You will Never be a Good Vocalist. He actually does it with such Grace it's Amazing, and he has total control over his. I absolutely love this Song. No matter how much I hear it
Welcome to Led Zeppelin nation I really like the way you appreciate their music you won't be disappointed
That is the rock & roll anthem !! Liked the reaction,, and your insight.
It is truly an iconic and beautiful song, but there are some that I love even more, like "Since I've Been Loving You". Robert Plant had some problems with his voice after '74 when he had to have surgery for nodules on his vocal chords. He sometimes had to struggle to hit notes after that. My favorite part is the look of ecstasy on Jimmy's face as he becomes one with the guitar
As a Zep fan I have to say, I know its trite but Stairway has always been and always will be my favorite song. I have listened to and own their entire catalogue....this song is truly the most beautiful thing I've ever listened to.
When the stars align....... you are dead on with that observation.
1973. Can you imagine if bands were like this today? Man that would be so awesome.
You're a wonderfully thoughtful and insightful person. I appreciate your connection. I see that. Lovely review and thoughts around the song and life. Enjoyed it!
I followed because I like your genuine personality. You seem like a good person. No gimmicks or wild and wacky intro's. Keep it up and I'll keep watching!
Robert Plant-vocals
Jimmy Page-guitars
John (Bonzo) Bonham-percussion
John Paul Jones-EVERYTHING ELSE-(most talented member)
Thank you for allowing me, to watch you, enjoy my music.
If you are in my age range and you had FM radio in the ‘70’s, you likely heard Stairway several times each day. That, and Yes’ Roundabout
That was an awesome reaction. I don’t know why you’ve never popped up on my feed before, but I’ve subscribed now so I’ll catch all your reactions in future. This performance is amazing, I don’t think it is overrated at all. It is brilliant. I’ll check out your other LZ reactions now but have you done any Queen? Queen are a rock band from the same era as Led Zep but their music is a lot more eclectic. They’ve covered everything from Rock/opera (Bohemian Rhapsody, a masterpiece) gospel (Somebody to Love) Thrash metal, before thrash metal was even a thing (Stone Cold Crazy) Jazz, Ragtime, and amazing arena songs you have most likely heard (Another One Bites the Dust and We are the Champions). Give them a listen during your rock journey, you won’t regret it.
U might like "when the levee breaks " .. oh yeah .. or " the Battle of evermore " .. lol 😘
Since I've been loving you. Please
Audio version first!
Great reaction! Your insight and thoughts were right on point. ❤❤❤
Top 5 all time, guitarist, drummer, frontman
Great reaction, nice to see that you were really listening and thoughtful
Thoughtful reaction. Thanks!
Great reaction. If you haven't yet, you gotta do the live version of "Since I've Been Loving You" from this same concert. Even better.
I will check it out.. lots of people have been saying just check out this whole concert
Found you via KianaVision......hope I get a prize lol I am your one thousandth friend man! Had to comment on a video of one of THE DOPEST songs ever! Happy OneKay!
Dude....you are cool....great thoughts.....you got a cool gentle thoughtful and intelligent style....🙏🏼
This was the kind of music that bands of guys in their 20s were doing back then.
Just let that sink in.
Plant is out there rocking the denim sausage like it's nothing.
Ladies on the first row must have loved it. This dude was the hottest thing in rock world back then. Imagine the greatest modern vocalist who also happens to be a famous womanizer get on stage with those pants nowadays. Good thing sexual harassment only works one way otherwise the entire front rows would be sent to court the next day,
There is no autotune used in any Led Zeppelins performances, remember that fact! Also, John Paul Jones the Bass/keyboardist/multi-instramentalist was also their main producer thou each band member did contribute more to some songs more than other's.
This is my first time seeing your channel. Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands, so I applaud you for reacting to their music, but a lot of RUclipsrs run into problems whenever they post Led Zeppelin vids.
I'm not sure what other classic rock bands you've reacted to so far, but Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple are sure to earn you a lot of views, and their music is considered "classic rock" for a reason.
Excellent 👌 review 👍 lad ` enjoyed it 😉
Glad you enjoyed it
Maybe the Best Rock song of all times¡¡
Zeppelin made it a point to not make the live shows sound the same. If you went to a back to back show they did not want be the same.
great review! This song is amazing!
You"re just knocking on the door to the Rabbit hole that is Led Zeppelin. Like your channel........you LISTEN.
Amazing soul song!
Great reaction you nailed it! I don’t believe we will ever get four together like this again.
What do you think are there best songs
robert phelps They have so Many but Ten years Gone and Kashmir are two of my favorites
Ray Mcarthur yes Kashmir I really do like but they did steal a lot
You just listened to the best version of the greatest rock song ever written the reason why is Jimmy Page's guitar solo.
The stars aligned. Perfect analogy.
Yes as already suggested, if you like the Blues influences "Since I've been loving you" live at Madison Square Gardens.
I subscribed! Please more live Zeppelin!!!
Great reaction.
A fantastic song
THE Gods of Rock! Period!
You really need to play no quarter, song remains the same/rain song from this same concert 73 at MSG
Love your reactions. Try Led Zep How Many More Times live in Denmark. It’s a great performance.
or High hopes-pink floyd. amazing song
Zac going Zen.
Legend has it that when Robert Plant sang, all the women in the audience got pregnant.
Try Kashmir for different flavour ! 👍🇬🇧✌️
Sub'd today any friend of Zep is a friend of mine 💖 That was the greatest live guitar 🎸 solo EVER
Just hit the sub button, keep on Zepping on
Best band ever
Imagine Kobe Bryant Michael Jordan magic Johnson and LeBron James on the same team... that's Led Zeppelin
Rock Gods ❤️✌️
The Rain song from this concert!
You should react to since I’ve been loving you live at MSG 1973
You gotta react to "Achilles Last Stand" - Led Zeppelin (Album Version)
So far it only happened once
Stevie Ray Vaughan performing "Texas Flood" Live @ the El Mocambo.
lets try another british band, Pink floyd. Pink floyd- Time or ,pink floyd comfortably numb
great Song. but i like the studio version better.
The best ‘70s live performance I’ve ever seen was “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac. It’d be awesome to see you react to that. I’ll search up the video now and post a link to it under this comment.
Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/wgmRb3MlpHQ/видео.html
I was honestly blown away by it. You mentioned how in a live performance the band can draw out parts of the song if they want to, but things went above and beyond with the live performances of “Rhiannon”-it’s so much more *intense* than the studio recording of the song I grew up hearing, and the lyrics are a lot more complex, and much better, too.
Best band ever!
Nice for some things, but I can't hear the bass and drums enough in this version, I like the studio version better overall.
Considering that they were only 20 yrs old
not bad for a 4 piece band!!!
I would try to react to the Cure, and Van Halen, and maybe the Clash. It might might make your channel unique. Focus on the 80's
Check out soul train bro if you haven’t already
Don't get me wrong, I love live, but I start with studio.
Cant hate dogs. Right? Good job.
React to Judas Priest Victim of changes
GOOD NEWS,...BAHA U LLAH, the glory of God, the BAHA'I FAITH.... the songbird that sings,.. the piper that will lead us to reason,.... the tree of life, we are all leaves of the tree,.. the brook.. the living waters.... when all are one and one is all.... the cause of God... Isiah and THEY WILL BEAT THEIR WEAPONS OF WAR INTO PLOWSHARES AND MAN WILL LEARN WAR NO MORE.... PEACE...
This was 1973
Jimmy Page often made his guitar solos much longer in live performances than the studio version by improvising things on the spot. This guitar solo is about double the length of the studio version. There is a part in the solo about half way through were it seems it should stop but dosn't. All the stuff after that half way point is improvised for this performance. Robert Plant the singer also added a lot of improvisation to the live version of the songs. EVERY SONG from this concert is of this quality. The ONLY thing to me thats overrated about this song is in my opinion I think they have at least a dozen songs better than this one. But thats just me. Zeppelin is the rare group that has multiple signature songs. This song is considered the masterpiece of masterpieces and is still often voted the greatest song in rock history.
You got to stop interrupting the video so much...let it play out, its about the music.
