    This is a cool project, I have never seen an air tapping head before. It is good to see the boring, we must get a boring head for our mill

    Hi Mick, Nice project...like you mentioned a few refinements and testing, it should be great addition to the tapping bench.

    Interesting. I think it's a great start. But, I'd skip on the 3D printing. Rigidity is going to be your friend on this. I would remake the mount in steel, but I would take it further back and get rid of that point with the single bolt going through it. Made that a solid piece into the arm, so the only joint on the end is the yoke that allows for left and right manipulation. I might even consider getting rid of that and make it ridge at that point so you only have the joint that stays in sync with the middle joint. Where'd you get the tapping head?

      Excellent ideas! I did reprint one with 85% infill and it feels better but I haven't tried it yet. I got the tapping head from Amazon. The hard part is finding the tap adapters for imperial size taps. Ebay used seemed to be the best source.

    Hey Mick, good deal!! Wasn’t sure if anyone was going to make one of these. So what was different between your arm and mine? I ended up using the upper bushing that came with the arm, I just turned it upside down.

      I think there was a tab that you had to grind out of a hole or something like that. I think mine was just a little simpler. How have you been? Been a while.

      @@MicksWorkshopokay. I had to go back a need review my video. The upper part had a stop in it and since I re-used the original bushing but flipped it upside down. It went into the cavity that the boss originally did. So, it had to be removed for clearance. Then put the trust washers on. My plan was to make a new bushing if needed but it worked fine. So I left it. I’m doing good. Been busy with work and haven’t had time to video or edit any of my previously recorded footage. I’ll try and get back to it at some point.

      That last hinge point can be a issue. I cocked mine all the way over to the way it wants to move and locked it down and the weight of the hammer drill balances a bit better with it that way. You don’t want it moving or your arm can kick out and you’ll break a tap. Almost happened to me. Since yours is is online you may want to come up with a better way to immobilize it.

      @@Conno9220 Yeah the horizontal hinge right? I can do the same thing, that's a good idea. The air tapping head has a lot of torque. That's mostly why I used two hands to hold it in the short followup I did.
