Story 1 was relatable. My wife and I have a second house in a remote area in the SE USA. It’s 8 hours from our residence. Since we’re only there a few times per year, I worry that someone will break in or even worse, move in and trash the place. After hearing OP’s story, we definitely need to invest in security cameras. Glad for OP that it was just a mess and no damage.

any home or residence you have make sure to have security cameras. they can also come in handy for SUING people for cleaning and damages.

Story 1 could very well have been true on karens part as there are cases where a house has been put up for rent on airbnb sites without the owners knowledge.

IMHO I think that the story was just a creative writing project. Otherwise 'karen' should have been able to provide proof that it was indeed rented, even if it was illegal.

He took out keys to unlock the door. Did she previously borrow the place and keep a key? Pick the lock?

That certainly happens. But it probably wasn't happening here, because she couldn't name the source of the rental or show her agreement. She would've had the Airbnb details if they'd gotten it from there, or anywhere similar.

Not only that, a summer home near my grandmas summer home was "scam rented" to not one, not two, but FOUR families the same weekend, they all showed up within the same 15 minutes and there was nobody to let them in while they tried to figure out what had happened, from what my grandma was told someone had rented it via social media, not a website that does background checks (where i'm from you MUST prove you own the property to be able to rent it), so the scammer had taken all the money up front from multiple people and of course didn't show up to let them in, scammer was caught, apparently had an easy-to-follow electronic paper-trail.

Story #2 - It was more than just a childhood misdeed, because he showed that as an adult that he had no remorse for what he had done and still thought it was a funny story worth sharing

With the first story the mother free place ti stay in and away and destroy the place because they book on any website and the poor owner accommodation had paid any clan and/or repair. I think she thinks doing is funny getting accommodation free and destroying the so call accommodation and think getting any free and not pausing any is funny damage. If was the op I will during the for changing the locks and destroying my place and laying about saying she booked one and she asked to booking confirmation she would not let any see it and police asked see her she make any reason why couldn’t get it

The Fact that no one cared for Arthur should tell you what that person grew up in a Town where kids his age all though because he was shy and meek that it's ok to traumatized and bully the kid out of town, and all the people of that age group (Mid 30s) where likely the ones calling OP crazy, I bet the Dad and a who didn't grow up in that Town were the ones on OP side as showing no remorse and saying they wish to go further and do something illegal is messed up, simply his date left him hanging as she doesn't want to be with a man who willing to ruin lives just because he can.

Story 2) as a child I was bullied, and even now at the age of 35 some of the things the bullies did haunt me, I struggled to trust anyone, including family, I had no dating life well into my adult years, it took a very special person and a lot of therapy to open up and trust again, even then I still have deep seeded trust issues. What the bullies did, and yes they are bullies, will probably have/had lasting effects on their victim too. Good on OP for leaving that immature idiot, as he still thinks it was just a harmless joke even as an adult proves he has not emotional matured at all, and is actually a massive red flag.

The first story, OP's key didn't work, that means SOMEONE changed the locks on the door. Could very well be that someone, also was illegally renting out OPs cabin. That would mean that the karen and her family 'might' have actually rented the cabin in good faith, although why she couldn't provide name/proof of rental payment ....
Most likely though, this is just a creative writing project.

    • @mpmansell

He mentioned that they didnt work, not were changed. Many locks cannot be opened if they are locked from the other side, and the key left in place

NTA on the ineternet bully, the fact that he and his cronies were still gloating over his misdeeds proves he hasn't matured or otherwise grown out of his intitaled idiotic Karenness. Tyeing yourself to him in any way would be a from of self hate, as he would eventually attack and destroy anyone he thought weaker than himself.

As to the first story op should have done a walk thru before they left and upon seeing the mess filed charges and sued for cleaning costs. As to the second story what goes around comes around. As to the third story that idiot got what she deserved. If she fired op for going into labor at work and having the baby she would be in serious legal trouble. As to the fourth story b had a major ego problem and is lucky to still have a business. As to the last story that is an awesome couple. The wife's coworker is delusional.

There was nothing in the story that didn't indicate that the lady had been scammed by the site, but OP was so sure that she wS behind it. Later turned out to be true, but from the start there was no evidence of that.

  • @emeraldpichu1

It might not have been Karen tho. Since he didn’t mention that the door was busted, but that the locks were changed that might’ve been his most recent rentee who switched out the locks so they could try the profit off the cabin and the website is not gonna actually verify fraud because it looks negative on their agenda.

    • @lianabaddley8217
      @lianabaddley8217 10 месяцев назад +1

The locks were strange. He said no one should have been borrowing the place that weekend so no one should have had keys. Did she previously borrow the place and keep the key? Pick the lock? Didn't seem like her hubby would've changed the lock.

  • @dreamart3395

Story one ... all sounds believable until you re-listen to the story. OP said his key didn't work when he tried to enter his cabin ... suggesting someone had changed the locks. So, how is it that Karen was able to get into the cabin with her husband and kids in tow? Did she arrive early and change the locks? Was her husband in on it and he changed the locks. How do you change locks without the door first being open unless you busted the door/frame to get in? Come on ... if you're gonna make up a story try and get your details in order.

Story 1: who changed the locks?
All he showed police was his I.D and his keys which no longer fitted the locks.
At least make a story believable.
