okay I laughed so hard when you said the folders Nasty makes the soldiers to violent .
Mark G the funny stuff he says with the coffee “coffee jokes” he makes me laugh really hard.
Also when he said "I'm going full on nasty town." 26:54
MarchingOn LoL that was great as well.
Ur correct our military service members definitely deserve a MUCH much BETTER tasting. MRE. .. I'VE HAD BRITISH AND CANADIAN KOREAN SWISS FRENCH AND EL SALVADORAN .MRE..ALL MIL ISSUES AND EVERY ONE WAS 100% BETTER THAN OUR MRE. BEST SO FAR YET...IS KOREAN AND FRENCH...
God that’s got to be a lot of work placing the cameras and walking and going back for them. Thanks for what you do, Luke.
I agree it does seem like a lot of work I appreciate him doing it.
I kind of wish he (they/channels) wouldn’t, it takes me out of the experience. Like yourself all I can think is that it’s a lot of work for a staged scene and I don’t like staged reality for the most part. That’s just me though, Luke will do Luke and we’re good with that.
Paul Keating I see your point but if I’m being honest I like the current camera work even though it’s more work on Luke I like the different angles and perspective he provides especially during the gear review episodes. But I can see your point as well.
He has a support team that breaks trail and caters the real food he eats; ever notice he has a cell signal?
That on the face of the rock is called a wood dobber nest, it holds a flying insect similar to a wasp.
Our military personnel deserve the best!!! I cracked up out loud laughing at the statement about the fire inside. Too funny!!! Thanks for the reviews. Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all
Luke your a good singer! A song & dance in the woods for us? Lol Thanks for Sharing!
Thanks for being so regular putting out videos during a time where so many are isolated.
Luke, I really appreciate your reviews and videos. Very useful information.
You've mentioned your daughter, Maddie (sp). My little girl's name was Maddie. She was my buddy, and she loved to be outdoors with me. I lost her to cancer five years ago. I try to spend as much time outdoors now in her honor.
Thanks again for the videos, bro.
US Army 84/89 stationed at Ft Bragg NC. I agree that's a real bushcraft shelter. Another great video luke, The Shed is going to be fun to watch. 👍
May God bless your Daughter as she starts her new journey with the United States Navy! Safe journeys to you as well.
I liked the few lines of CCR...
And the "I'm goin full on nastytown" LOL
Your sense of humor in display a bunch in this one, and it was great to see!
Enjoyed this one, Luke!
Awesome channel!!! Huge thank you to your daughter for her service to the Navy!!! ♡♡
A concerned father for his daughter. You are in our prayers!
Sorry to hear.about the condensation issues, I use the army sleeping bag with the gortex bag to avoid a damp sleeping bag. Works out most of the time though. My Marine grandaughter lost her posting due to the corona virus, so no paid vacation in the Pacific. Hope everything goes good for your daughter, best wishs to all active and retired military. Never quit, never, ever forget!!
Chef Ken
I think it's gorgeous there in the spring! Love the photography. Your sound quality is so nice to pick up that chattering of the birds, the hawk. Thank you for this delightful camp out!
keep up the good work man! love watching your series, i'm 62 years old and wish that my wife and i could be there with ya, loving the blue ridge mountains. live in florida 40 years now but i'm still a kentucky boy at heart! carry on! great fan. tim
😂
Thank you to your daughter for her service. Being a veteran myself I support all veterans but focus on those who are having troubles re-acclimating to today's society after times of combat or thoughts of suicide. I pray she never has to go through that. I thank you for your support of our military brothers and sisters.
Surplus overnights are my absolute favorites.
Hillies are miles a head , they are king of tents without a doubt. Nice adventure 👍🏽
"At least no tree will fall on me,and that's important."
Sage advice my friend.
That MRE looks nasty. Always had good chow on my carrier.
In Australia we get a tree along the river banks known as a a ghost gum and they are known to drop limbs for no reason, especially in summer. All you hear is the crack and down comes 40kg of branch. I can remember once on a camp telling someone about the trees and warning them to move their camper trailer. They brushed the risk off and about an hour after dusk when it cooled down came a monster and took the trailer out. Looked like something out of a cartoon.
I know it goes without saying. But I'm very thankful for your daughters service! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 and thanks for taking us on your adventures😁
My man was out here making chill friendly camping videos and WARNING PEOPLE ABOUT LONG COVID in *MAY* of 2020. Absolute legend. Thank you!
It's not mentioned enough that the 1918 Flu had wide-ranging aftereffects that persisted for years after initial infection, if not for the rest of someone's life. Reduced educational attainment, physical disability, lower income and socioeconomic status, encephalitis lethargica, and elevated all cause mortality.
Those were mud dauber ( aka dirt dauber ) wasp nests ! at about 4:10 . Now back to the show ! Like your videos . Weird question - have you done any just getting started videos ( or recommend any ) for senior citizens ? Seriously , I promise you ! We're in our mid 60's
I came across this channel Senior Hiker 77 yesterday. He's pretty funny!

Lawnmowerman Check out Far North Bushcraft and Survival.
Luke, this was excellent adventure. Your experience and ability to have fun is inspiring. Best wishes and good luck to your daughter. You must be very proud. Congrats
The amount of editing it takes to make your reviews does not go unnoticed by this viewer. You do a great job man 👍 this looked excellent.
If Luke did a 5mile walking video it took him about ten miles to do it. Thanks for the great channel
The overnights coming in the shed is my favorite. I have watched it several times! God bless y’all!
Yet another fantastic review, Luke!
Gotta say, at 00:10:12 was sure you were gonna say, "Let's get this onto a tray... Nice!"
Long live Luke & Steve1989
Love Steve 1989
They need to do a crossover video in the worst way. Luke is in NC and Steve is in FL so it wouldn't be too bad for them to meet up somewhere.
That would be epic ✌🏼
Drive from either side and meet in the middle for a hike, overnight(s) and just bounce off each other.
When two people who know their stuff get talking.. then you listen and stay hush
That would be something to see👍👍
The 'vulcano' stove (Bordeflasche, Gebirgskocher der Schweizer Armee) is made of aluminum and will not withstand glowing coals!
It is not designed to be used as a hobo, instead you should use a (small) alcohol or gel stove inside it (Notkocher 71)
Sticks and twigs shouldn't be a problem, just don't expect to use it long term or as a 'heater'.
I’m loving 🥰 the knife 🔪. Cracking job 👍💖🇬🇧
I bought that same Swiss stove on ebay from some guy in Switzerland. He even sent me some real Swiss chocolate. The stove is just a cool item to have around.
"I wonder if that person is still alive." 🤣
Me too
Me too
Me three
😀
Never ceases to amaze me how often the military blows it, when it comes to providing it's troops with gear like this. When I served in the 70's, we went so far as to buy our own socks (anything that wouldn't show) for duty during the cold weather months. They've made a lot of improvements since then, but it looks like they still aren't talking to people who spend much time using this type of gear. With all the money the military spends, I would think they would just ask a company like Z-pack to make them a military version (camouflaged sol-poly) of one of their tents/tarps.
When the UK guys on reserve started hearing about the second go in Iraq, there was a lot of growling about having to buy usable equipment themselves because issue kit was so old it fell to pieces, I’m talking about unused kit that the stitching fell apart on.
Was the same over here in the UK in the early 2003, my wife even went to the local army surplus to buy kit to send out to me in Basrah, eg sun hats, sun glasses, I thought there may be shortages so took my own stuff too, eg coolmax socks, found out you can wear them for two weeks non stop, not enough water to wash clothes in, so bathed with wet wipes and alcohol gel ( medic here ) saying that, 2007 Afghanistan, had more than enough kit, good stuff too, eg camelback and did not have to hand it all in, the Osprey system was one of the best but it was heavy in that heat, anyway, all the best .
I'm retired army [9/92] and the issue kit was CRAP! I always felt that the generals and colonels should be forced to go out for a mont using the issue gear just like the privates to see what crap we were getting to get them to improve the gear we were issued. Same goes for the food. Rear eschelon wieners get much better food and it doesn't come in a bag!
Thank you so much for sharing these little "adventures" with us. In my past, I was able to do this sort of thing often, but current life circumstances prevent me from getting out there very often. Watching your videos will have to suffice for a while!
I can't wait for more of your winter snow trips! Those are the best! Keep doing what you're doing man! Love it!
Really enjoyed watching this Luke. I'm continually impressed by the production value and all the obvious effort and hard work that goes into your adventure videos. Thanks for making great content. Coupled with the gear reviews they're entertaining, inspiring, informative and "agenda free"! I went out everyday of my 5 day weekend this memorial day weekend realized I had a number of products you reviewed thanks to those reviews. Thanks!
Hahahahah I’m only half way in the video and Luke’s away walking up the mountain 🏔 again !! Hahaa man he’s got some energy that fella
Love him
These videos are gems
All of em
Nice looking tent to bad it rained and turned the tent into a swing pool lol ty for sharing
You are fortunate to have that place for your adventures.
Chili-Mac, hands down, is the first to disappear during exercises.
In more ways than one.
Thank you for bringing us to some wonderful spots what a tent, great video God Bless you
Had to stop the video and comment, that video where you built the shelter and stayed in the sniw storm is to this day one of my favorite videos. Showcasing the military gear and staying in the weather brought back many memories for me. I almost watched it but chose this video. Thanks for what you do Luke, I am layed up from back surgery and now going back to watch over your videos. Appreciate you Brother.
Hey Luke beautiful spots hope y'all are well much love your way be safe have a wonderful day
Thank you Luke,,I do love the over nighter adventures...I like CCR too..sing it brother!!!!
Lone Wolf mountain home of many wild animals and one wild man. Another great adventure. Thanks for bringing us along.
Dude, that was my favorite MRE when I was in the Army MPs. I used to carry bacon bits to make it a bacon western burger.
😂
That was the first of your videos I watched, it inspired me to get back out camping.
I stumbled across your channel and I have to say, the amount of effort you go through to set up cameras and then go back to "get the shot" is staggering. My hats off to you sir. I've enjoyed your breakdown and use of equipment and weighing pros and cons of everything. You are doing a swell job, and from one squid to another, fair winds and following seas to your daughter.
#Bush craft adventure, was the first time I watched one of your posts on RUclips, and still watching.
Thanks Luke, love the content of your channel.
one of my favs have watched it several times
Love all your episodes Luke, keep safe and healthy
I definitely remember the rock outcropping adventure - freakin' awesome! Is that the one where you admitted to being less than fond of spiders? And the shed, yeah, the shed! I remember when you installed the stove - another very cool episode! Looking forward to the renovation project!
Watching you walk up that log reminds me of a time I was fishing with a friend on a river in the Cascades. We were working our way up stream along the bank. There was an old fir log laying parallel to the stream. My friend, thinking he'd hop up on that log and make his travel a bit easier did so. On his third step he punched through the log as it was rotten he went up to mid thigh of both legs. Unbeknownst to him, the log was housing a huge yellow jacket nest. Needless to say he had created some serious unrest within the community of hornets. His only saving grace was that he was able to jump straight into the stream and wash most of them off. He was stung about 50 times on both legs. Since that day I have always been leery of walking on old logs.
I really enjoy watching tent videos. I’ve just realised that my Dad never mentioned ever sleeping in a tent during 6 days of WW2 from France to North Africa and Italy. Slit trenches lined with sheets borrowed from houses , yes, gas capes, great coats, but never tents.
Also thanks for another great video 👍
Hey Luke awesome video!! My wife and I really enjoy all that you post. Thanks for letting us tag along!!
This guy is great. Imagine walkie back and forth setting thr camera and retrieving it for getting good shots . a lot of work is put into making your videos. Appreciate it!
I work 60 hours, I don’t have the time to camp or enjoy the wild life anymore, I now live through you.
When I served in the 1980s, MREs were just starting to be used (I believe however, it has been awhile lol), and our entire Scout Platoon preferred C Rations over MREs lol.
Matty thank you for your service . Strength and honor.
I always love your videos. Keep them up. That's one hell of military tent and can't remember ever been supplied that luxury when I served in the Australian military. But fantastic to see.
@4:03 Those clay tubes are from one of a variety of wasps generically called "mud daubers".
"It makes their soldiers too violent." 🤣 I like that BK. I still like the tent, too. Stay well, Luke.
Luke, your channel has been a great reference and inspiration for camping and general adventuring out there in the world. When it comes to MREs, yeah... some of them really suck in terms of taste, but really, they're great to do what they intend to do: keep you from starving. A couple cool tricks for you in the future if you haven't tried it yet; use the drink pouch to keep small papers or maps dry. Also, if you don't use the heating element for a meal, put about half the normal amount in, put it back in the overpouch and, BAM! you have a nice way to keep your core warm for easily over 5 hours in cold weather. Keep up the great work and best wishes for your daughters safe return!
@ 3:50, I remember that video! It was the video that I subscribed to your channel after watching. Very informative - daring (with that wind). Mud dauber (dirt dauber) @ 4:04. Yes!! give the shed some love! It will be a good place for an over night camp in very heavy snow.
Another awesome vid. I live in and work in the city and I just love this vid, I sat a watched while drinking beer.
had my adventure with thunder snow and hail in West Virginia turned out to be an amazing trip
That song you sang a little of is my favorite CCR song. Folgers is good coffee. But now I drink McCafe. Love it. And wasn't that a dirt dauber nest?
i really am so jealous watching this vids on camping! dammnn! i need to do this when this pandemic is over!
You definitely should go, but why wait until the pandemic is over, now's the time, less people, and what better way to social distance your self than heading into the bush
In this time it's good to be able to follow along on a virtual outdoor adventure with you. Thanks!!!
All he does is showing his. Self eating
Probably the best thing on RUclips. Keep up the good work, fella.
Good video Luke, good choice not setting up near the tree, always trust your gut. Funny story ,speaking of CCR, my friend always thought the chorus said, "There's a bathroom on the right".....makes me think of that every time I hear that song ...lol, You and Susie stay safe :)
Great review and trip! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
I know Summer is going to be so much Fun, Thanks so much Buddy
Luke thanks for the update on Madison. My respect to her and all the men and women in the military. And thanks for all you do, in bringing us along on your adventures. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when you said that folders Nasty makes the soldiers to violent.
Luke! I swear you said Clarence clearwater revival! That is so funny! Go back and watch it! You are great!
We always say Clearence Creedwater, on purpose. Ha, ha!
When I was active duty the tuna noodle casserole was my fav.
Tuna noodle, Stroganoff and chili mac.
I remember the winter overnighter when the snowstorm blowing in. Awesome video that one. The nest you showed is the nest of a dirt dauber wasp. They are about 1” long and black. They look evil, but they are not.
Love the overnighters!!!!
Menu # 10 chilli mac is the best. Especially if you can trade your cheese spread for jalapeno cheese spread. Heat both of them up and mix together. Best meal ever...well when your army hungry.
I would enjoy seeing you & your brother , doing a video together, maybe an overnight adventure, using some of your guys crafty survival stuff from when you guys where kids, or just an overnight adventure with u & your brother. We would like to get to know him, since he is your twin:) thanks for sharing!
A+ Luke. Another great one. I recognized the rock outcrop bushcraft site immediately. Loved that one a lot.
Great job Luke. Happy Memorial Day to you and our family.
Nice Video Luke as always! Would have thought the Tent is sure dry.. Interesting.
Love all Your videos, keep em coming 🙏🏼 and as You say, Strength and Honor 💪🏼
Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
What's the difference between Luke and a platypus ... one makes its bed i a river the other majes a river in the bed ... haha .. sorry about all that water Luke really. Only on this channel do ou get such awesome vlogs in the worst if extreme conditions ... that's why we love this channel so much. Pity help the military guys Luke they must hope for desert deployment.
Thanks fo this adventure mate. Bushyboy Oz.
You test a lot of gear out. I would like to see a overnighter with your top picks. Your favorite gear, tent or tarp to sleeping bag and cook kit, your top picks for backpacks just all the kit you like the best.
Menu #23, the pepperoni pizza slice is my favorite....I have a couple others but #23 is the top of my list.
Hey there buddy! Do I assume that, your military tent is made out of canvas? For years starting out in the Boy Scouts, various youth groups, etc,...canvas tents were the,"IN THING". We found them heavy and bulky, yet held up against insane winds! Then there was the condensation and rain fall?!? The first couple times out we camped with the buddy system. Two bodies per tent. Knowing what happens when you touch any part of the tent in wet weather, one just opened a portal for dripping water! We would set up the tent and then run a string around the inside paremeter in a rectangle shape tied off to stable sticks. In those days the tents did not have a floor. We would then lay down an extra large plastic ground cloth and brought the sides up and attached to the rectangle! We never touched the inner tent, we had a dry interior, and a very cool wind block! Of coarse realizing all the work involved we did some research and learned how to oil the canvas....DUH! Solved all the problems! Anyways.... thanks for taking me along on your excursion! John
Great video Luke, and pretty funny as well 🤣
I just wondering how you keep such a straight face when you said the Folgers nasty was making the soldiers violent, bahahaha.
Thanks 😊 for sharing your adventures and sharing the gear with us, pretty cool.
Tennessee opened last weekend, the 15th, and I was definitely out doing some camping. 4 days, 3 nights.
Old mtn ppl used to insulate the walls with newspapers,my dad grew up in the mtns of wnc and had to brush snow off his bed in the winter
I recently acquired a wood stove like the one you have in the shed. Works well
Luke why is it every time I watch your videos I mysteriously get hungry.👍
I'm enjoying your videos, thank you. If I can make two suggestions in regards to the use of MREs... 1st, put the water in the heater then immediately the food to be heated before the heater gets too hot to handle. 2nd, slit the MRE packet lengthwise, not across the top. Much easier to eat with the reduced depth. I cradle the heated pouch with a bandana or a shirt sleeve for comfort. The issued spoon can reach without messing up your hand or clothing.
MRE tip: if you want to get extra power from the flame less ration heater. Put half the iodized salt from the salt package in the heater then add maybe a touch extra water but not too much, then shake it hard to mix the salt . Put the heater inside the cardboard sleeve , then out the meal pouch in the sleeve outside the heater not inside like you probably are used to. Let it vent enough but keep the top of the heater rolled so it only vents a bit but doesn’t inflate. Doing it this way allows you to easily slip the meal pouch in and out so you can turn and flip it as it heats . The extra power for the salt really makes a big difference too and you’ll have evenly heated piping hot meals . You can even add all the salt and put a second item on the other side of the heater in the cardboard sleeve. Remember to turn them every 4 or 5 min.
You made me laugh when you said "I'm going full-on nasty town." w/ that MRE. :)) Enjoying the vid!
Yess another great video. Love your music choices too.
We’re so addicted to this channel and we would like another adventure, in the shed. Lol! Thank you, for the fun and the entertainment. 👍😁🙏Johnny, Montréal, Canada
I love your military surplus adventures. When I was enlisted I loved the Pork Cho mane MREs. But I had to watch out. There was an instructor that would steal that from the recruits lol
Real Bushcraft overnight Adventure III And Mud dauber wasps I think, I Used to rewatch your overnight adventures even just to fall asleep to if you didn't have a new one out yet lol, I love them All, favorite channel and first one I subscribed to also,
Hi Luke.... Leigh here in Sydney, Australia. Huge fan, love all your vids. Man, you are awesome. Strength & honour to you & your fam.
Omg!
I would rather fast than eat this ration package.
It doesn't look appetizing at all. You are brave Luke lollll!
Must be disappointing for the tent, I would have thought it would have been optimal, but clearly, this is not the case!
At least the Volcano Stove was up to the task. Seems to be a pretty cool stove.
Thanks for the advice on selling my tent. I put it on ebay and it was gone in no time and didn't lose much either. I'm still stuck in bed almost 2 months now. Not sure when I can walk yet. but I can see the the titanium plate on the outside now and its here to stay.
Didn't expect to break down crying at an episode featuring a man saying hello to his deceased dog but here I am 😭 RIP DeeDee
