David, let me say you are quite an incredible young man and I think you did great on this. I am 67 years old and have been listening to Beatles records for 60 years now. I got all 10 on the first two, and two on the half second list as you did. I laughed when you stumbled on Ringo's drum solo as being from "The End" just like you did on the drum track quiz which I also just tried and got 20 of 20. My 30 years as a Ringo Starr tribute artist helped on that. Please continue helping keep the Beatles music alive and in your generations' memories long after I have gone on to Rock N Roll Heaven. peace and Love.
As a Beatles fan, that is relatable. Whenever a Beatles song comes up I can't help but to say which song it is, which album, who composed it and a bunch of random trivia about it.
If we’re honest, I don’t think any of the people who were actually in Abbey Road Studio Two at the time could have scored 100% on this even while the band was still together.
It was actually really cool you mixed Fixing a Hole up with Getting Better - I also think of them as sort of being grouped together because they’re right after one another in Sgt Pepper. Might not sound too similar but it’s definitely a reasonable mixup. As an added bonus I think that sense builds from listening to the album in order, so good on you for listening to it the right way :)
11/15. Been listening to The Beatles since I was 12! Saw them at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in 1966 when I was 14 years old. The tickets were $3.50. The half second ones were mostly what I missed. This was fun, but aggravating.
@@robertmize327 Life changed completely at that point. But also we were graduating from grade school and going to Jr High School so that was a big change too. Music was so fun at that time.
@@007Julie Whenever The Beatles came to town (which was only twice) the town would be a buzz trying to find out where they were staying etc. So my friend's Mom came home from work and was so excited that she piled us kids in her car and says let's just go down to Dodger Stadium and see what's going on. Once we got there she was more excited so she had us kids wait while she went to a liquor store to cash a check and then bought us all tickets to go in to see the show! You could barely make out what songs they were playing for all the screaming and yelling that was going on. They were on a stage on one side of the ball field and there was a big tent behind it with a banner on it that said The Beatles. I could see David Crosby (of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash fame) on the field in front of the stage. Once in a while fans would attempt to scale the fence and get onto the field and run toward the stage. Police would chase them down and escort them off. My friend's Mom would yell Run! Run! She was so excited. Even our parents were influenced by that band. When they finished playing they went into the tent and a limo drove out of it and tried to leave the stadium, but there we so many wild fans they didn't get far and had to drive back in and the band disappeared into one of the dugouts. I can't say musically it was one of the best concerts I've been to, but it certainly is one of the most memorable.
I'm 15 and a huge fan of The Beatles for nearly 3,5 years. I'm very proud of myself as I managed to guess "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "I don't want to spoil the party". In general my score is 10 or 11 out of 15 :)
I am a HUGE Beatles fan and I only got 9 out of 15. That was pretty tough. Some of them I knew immediately and some needed to be thought about for a second. very fun!
Hi! I thought I was a real fan and only got 8 🥺...BUT! I made a FOLLOW-UP Installment video to keep the fun going for fanatics like you! Let me know how you score (I think it's a little tougher, yet fair still) ruclips.net/video/sxD7MoO1eK0/видео.html
same! 9/15.. it was stuff like something where i knew it before the second was even over but then dear prudence for example which i know SO WELL but didn't get
There’s actually no bass guitar on “Julia.” Lennon had recently learned to fingerpick, and he used the technique on both “Julia” and “Dear Prudence.” What you’re heading as bass on “Julia” is the bass strings of Lennon’s acoustic guitar (which is double tracked to somewhat odd effect).
Ahh, interesting. That explains my mistake of guessing Julia when the answer was actually Dear Prudence. Then, I completely missed Julia when it came down to the 1/2 second notes, LOL.
It really says a lot that the most recognisable aspect of so many of these tracks is the drums. Score: 15/15 (omg i have never concentrated this hard on anything)
I got "Tell Me Why" because it just started playing in my head. I heard to those three first albums over and over when I was around 13 because I only had those LPs...in vinyl...I´m old...
When it first started playing I was going "can't buy me love" then thought hang on a sec what you on about you nutter right album wrong song haha then I remembered it's my ringtone xxx
I loved watching him think. I'm used to seeing him talk the things he rehearsed and prepared, this is a bit different. And I'm curious about his own music now.
For a young man, I am very impressed you know most of these! I've had 60 years to hear all of these over and over again. And you knew more than me. I wish these would go on forever. Thank you for the fun!
I got 12 out of 15. I'm counting "I Am The Walrus," though I couldn't remember the name. I first thought "Lucy in the Skies" was "Glass Onion," but picked it out on the second listen. In the final round, like you I guessed "Birthday" on the first listen, but heard that distinctive drum from "Tell Me Why" on the second. Thanks for the challenge, it was fun. I'm forwarded the link to a friend who's a huge Beatles fan; we'll see how she does. Man, I've listened to too much of the Beatles!
@@DavidBennettPiano Yes, please! This is a nice idea for a series. And it's fun to play along, too (even though I got literally none of the Beatles songs right).
If this is to be a series, it should be in historical order. The Beatles is a good starting place, then Pink Floyd, then King Crimson, then Genesis, Coldplay, and . . . _Billie Eilish?_
i've just recently got into the beatles so i haven't heard the majority of their songs but i did get 1 of these - something. it's only one but for only listening to them for around 2 weeks so far i'm proud of myself.
12/15. Been listening to the Beatles since I was 8. Didn't get Lucy (Mean Mr. Mustard), Julia (I Will) or Here Comes the Sun (Ballad of John and Yoko).
@Barney Miller i missed Julia and the drum solo guitar......here there and everywhere i half failed, 'cause i hesitated, my options were here, there and everywhere and martha my dear.....i missed the solo drum of The End 'cause it seemed too obvious for a mind game, so i tried with everybody's got somethin' to hide except me and my monkey......i missed Julia but i was sure it was a track from the white album....and the solo guitar of let it be, i missed it too.......so, as i half missed here there and everywhere, i did somethin' like 13.5/15 overall...also in yesterday i thought it was long long long at first, but at last i said Yesterday......
I didn't guess "Julia", "Let It Be" and "Here Comes The Sun" either. I did guess "Here, There And Everywhere" and "I Don't Want To Spoil The Party", though. (So my score was 11/15).
This might be harder than a challenge where you recognize your playlist songs from the silence at the beginning or single drum hit. You know the weird feeling when a song ends and the next is starting and you know from the silence which one starts to play.
I had a coworker try to stump me with clips like this... one that he played on accident was a single guitar note followed by silence, and I was like "Oh, that's Yes It Is, from the Anthology." Dude looked at me like I was a wizard and basically gave up at that point lol
David, I am pretty darned impressed with a fella as young as you to know these Beatle Songs as well as you do. I had to cheat and play the clips a couple of more times myself and I've been listening and playing Beatle Music for 57 years!
David, I was a young teenager in '64, so grew up with The Beatles. I do know their songs, but you got many more of these correct than I did! Now, I did get Tell Me Why correct cuz you gave us enough time to sing the song we thought it was in our heads. Great video!!
This has solidified in my mind that I haven't listened to The Beatles enough of late. While I know all the songs featured, I too only got 8 (3 being different to what he got), and instantly felt like an idiot when the others were revealed, especially those that were right on the tip of my tongue. Funnily, in the .5 round, I had guessed 'The End' on the previous two before the actual one! 😆
Im a HUGE Beatles fan and Love all their songs. I got 11 out of 15 right. Here comes the sun I thought was Hey Jude and I coulda sworn I was right too! Yes I would absolutely love for you to do another Beatles round!!
Good news! I made a follow-up installment. It is low budget, but does the job. Let me know how you and your dad do! ruclips.net/video/sxD7MoO1eK0/видео.html
I really enjoyed this! 0.5 seconds was really hard. However so many Beatles songs are recognizable with even only 1 or two seconds that it deepens my appreciation of how awesome they were.
i missed the end 'cause i said to myself that was pretty obvious, so i did bet for everybody's got somethin' to hide except me and my monkey...tell me why was the easiest along with the walrus, something and i don't want to spoil the party
I got 13/15!! As a really obsessed Beatles fan I’m proud of my score! I only couldn’t get ‘I don’t want to ruin the party’ and ‘Let It Be’ only because I haven’t listened to them too much ahahah!
That was way tougher than I thought, but I'm happy with how I did. Round 1: 4/5 Round 2: 3/5 with rules, (one additional listen gave me the one with only drum hit). Round 3: 3/5 This was fun and I'd love to see more more of these sometimes.
1. NEARLY went for Eleanor Rigby, but switched to the correct answer at the last second. 2. Got this one, thank god. 3. Honestly, this really sounded like I'm Just Sitting Here from Everyday Chemistry to me. I never remember what Fixing a Hole sounds like. 4. A Taste of Honey is the only track I skip on Please, Please Me. I'll agree it sounds a little Beatles for Sale/Rubber Soul-ish. It's the guitars. 5. I got this wrong too, but I'm baffled how much it sounds like McCartney's "We're So Sorry Uncle Albert"... 6. We Can Work It Out was what I went for. I'm doing terribly. 7. Thank GOD I got this one. 8. Got this too, which is good as it's a track I love for some bloody reason. 9. HOW THE HELL DID I GET THIS ONE BUT NOT A TASTE OF HONEY. 10. Yep, I fluffed that one completely. 11. I also thought this one was Blackbird. 12. I absolutely love Tell Me Why, I've probably heard it 1000 times. Still got it wrong. 13. Nope. Had NO idea. 14. I love this track, so I'm a little biased. 15. I knew it was a George track, because synths, but I honestly don't listen to Here Comes the Sun that much.
You did very well indeed. I'm nearly 62 and grew up on the Beatles, had all the albums, etc. And I didn't even recognize the names of 2 songs. While I haven't listened to Beatles albums in more than 45 years, I still can sing all the words when I hear them. Most things these days I can't remember after 10 minutes, but Beatles lyrics last forever.
Do you just listen to the singles? I know the creation of album is kind of lost art in modern music but listening to album start to finish is key to getting into an artist. Similar to news articles most people typically don't read past the headline.
I have known the Beatles since I was a kid. I thought I was a fan, and one day when I was 18 I listened to all their studio albums in order, and boy has my life changed.
@@jasonablah7702 I wouldn’t say I just listen to singles, but there is a lot of their early music I have never listened to before. I need to listen to all their albums in order. The one I listen to the most is Abbey Road.
@@emersonjames1105 For a long time I didn't buy Beatles CDs prior to Sgt. Pepper because they are all the British Parlophone releases. Eventually, I bought them and made playlists that were the same as the American Capitol releases so I could hear the songs in the order I listened to them in the '60s, and I was glad I did. I highly recommend listening to their early recordings. They are incredibly well-crafted pop songs, simple but beautiful, before they began making recordings they couldn't play on stage.
@@emersonjames1105 try to get some time and listen to all their albums in order, maybe do one a day, also past masters for a collection of all the singles
I actually don't believe the people who say they got 14/15 or 12/15 - They're trolls or that group of self-deluding people who say things like ´That's what I meant to say..´and give themselves the point anyway. I'm 44 and my parents were playing the Beatles since I could understand what music was... I got 6/15. I admire your honesty, because cheating would just make the whole thing pointless. You obviously have studied the Beatles very closely to get 8/15.
For most of my life I've only listened to the Beatles. From the ages to 4 to 13 it was strictly the Beatles. Every day. It was known growing up that I was a huge Beatles by my teachers and peers, and all of my family members. This was so much fun! It's been a while since I've listened to the Beatles as religiously as before since my music taste changed. But, I managed to get most of them right. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds had me scratching my head lol One missed 😅 but I like how it kept me on my toes
Exactly. It had to be a psycho like you to guess them all. 😁😄 Imagine the state of mind of a person who listens to *only* one band for years and years and years. Decades even. I wonder what do you do for living and what your life looks like now... 😁👍
You DID get, Fixing A Hole!! You sang it. You just messed us the name. Dang, you rock!! The challenge wasn't easy but you are really good at listening for all of the instruments. I took a college class many years ago on music appreciation. An exercise the instructor had us do was listen for all of the different instruments in the song. I think we have a habit of just listening to the overall song and following the melody in our mind. But by trying to pinpoint each of the instruments, you can more fully appreciate the song. You seem to have that skill either innately or learned. It was a really fun video to watch and play along with! I 1st saw this video maybe more than a year ago but I watched it again tonight and remembered how much I liked it the first time. Excellent content!!
I managed a measly 7, but still, I haven't listened to the Beatles for over twenty years so my memory isn't completely buggered. It would be great if you did a David Bowie one, I'm sure I'd get a few more there. Thanks, that was fun.
I was screaming “LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS” and “TELL ME WHYYYY” at you 😂 I didn’t keep track of my score, but I’m pretty sure you still did better than me
My man just correctly guessed a Beatles song based on half a second of audio of just 2 kick drum hits… forget all the ones you got wrong, THAT was impressive in itself.

I got 11 out of 15. I made the exact same mistake with GB/FAH. R2C4: I almost went for SPLHCB on the first hear but chose LITSWD on the second listen. R2C5: I went for Act Naturally instead of IDWTSTP. R3C3: LIB. I got this but I had my doubts. R3C4: I went for WYD from Beatles For Sale. R3C5: I went for S from Abbey Road and not HCTS. *I DID pause the video inbetween each clip and gave it some serious thought*

That was fun. I missed the first one because I was expecting intro clips. After that I missed on Lucy in the Sky, got Fixing a Hole, Something, the Ringo solo. I lost track of my score but was pleasantly surprised, maybe 10 of 15. I guess nearly 60 years of listening to the Beatles has paid off yet again.
As a huge Beatles fan, I'm just gonna post my guesses as I watch the video. Was stuck on the Please Please Me deep cut. *Round 2* Clip 1- Here, There, and Everywhere Clip 2- Something Clip 3- All Together Now Clip 4- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Clip 5- Two of Us??? 4/5- So close. Almost 5/5. Beatles for Sale screwed me over. *Round 3* Clip 1- Julia? (Ngl impressed with that one) Clip 2- Birthday? Clip 3- While My Guitar Gently Weeps Clip 4- The End (That iconic drum solo) Clip 5- Here Comes The Sun 3/5- Those were .5 ones were surprisingly hard. 11/15. Not bad if I think so myself. If we’re honest, I don’t think any of the people who were actually in Abbey Road Studio Two at the time could have scored 100% on this even while the band was still together.
@@lucasduque8289 thank god, I’m not alone

That's it. Close the comments. This one wins...
I actually mixed those two up at first as well, but figured it out that it was Fixing a Hole by singing it in my head real fast lol
@@twistysnacks I had to sing most of them in my head to get to the titles.
The correct order to listening to Sgt Pepper is to not listen to Sgt Pepper
Another producer might have made Paul decide between the two.
He actually got it right at first, because he had the right lyrics. Like he said, he didn't take his time and sing the lyrics far enough in.
11/15. Been listening to The Beatles since I was 12! Saw them at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in 1966 when I was 14 years old. The tickets were $3.50. The half second ones were mostly what I missed. This was fun, but aggravating.
Same age. That concert must have been very exciting 🙂 they sure changed things around.
What an experience to have at 14, I bet you didn’t sleep for weeks.
You are extremely lucky!

Lennon knew how to fingerpick, it's just that Donovan taught him a new technique while they were in India.
Yes he tuned the bass string down a whole step to D natural and used the same odd fingerpicking for Julia as he did dear prudence
Ahh, interesting. That explains my mistake of guessing Julia when the answer was actually Dear Prudence. Then, I completely missed Julia when it came down to the 1/2 second notes, LOL.
Julia is not in drop D
@@didierchadeau Right - both "Dear Prudence" and "Julia" are fingerpicked, but only "Dear Prudence" is in drop D.

“Julia” has the same guitar fingerpicking pattern (Travis picking) as “Dear Prudence”.
also the same as Look at me from Plastic ono band
Was Donovan who taught them that pattern? I mean in India
Is it also at the beginning of "Happiness is a Warm Gun"?

When it first started playing I was going "can't buy me love" then thought hang on a sec what you on about you nutter right album wrong song haha then I remembered it's my ringtone xxx
This one is easier than most because it’s the opening of the song.
I love his anxiety over this guessing game, because I feel the same, despite no consequences whatsoever.

4. A Taste of Honey is the only track I skip on Please, Please Me. I'll agree it sounds a little Beatles for Sale/Rubber Soul-ish. It's the guitars.
