There has ALWAYS been something very special about Chuck Girard & Love Song's music. That "something" is called an anointing. We didn't know that word, we just knew that Jesus & His Holy Spirit were present in those songs. You cannot make a song anointed. Only the Holy Spirit can do that. Those songs are STILL anointed. I was ten years old in 1970 when I accepted Jesus as my Lord & Savior. I got my first clock radio (LOL) when I was twelve & "discovered" this beautiful, wonderful, inspiring, ANOINTED music. My favorite (which is extremely hard to chose) was Two Hands & Little Country Church. GOD BLESS YOU, Chuck!!! One day in Heaven you will see what none of us can or could see: You will see what God accomplished through you & through that wonderful music. You will see me, a young girl listening to you on the radio & the LIFELONG impact that music had on me & countless others. I am a songwriter myself because of this time in my life. I hope to one day share my songs but for now, I sing them to Him. I love you dear brother. One day we'll meet but until then, THANK YOU & THANK YOU JESUS!!!

Oh my. This video has ministered to me mightily. 74 year old with some extra heavy problems…remembering the great years as we are seeing young people right now being touched by our great God. Didn’t live in California but this move in the 70s got to me late 70s. This remembering is so good. He’s got us. He’s had us all the way. He Is the Way. 31:45

I love to hear Chuck Girard sing the songs that helped so many of us to seek the Lord with our whole hearts. His powerful lyrics were the cry of our hearts to our loving Father and His Words of love & encouragement to us. Thank you Brother Chuck!!

My brother taught me the song SLOW DOWN when he was still here, he left in 15. I sang it at his funeral. Thank you for all you have done to help mold me into the Christian I am today. You and Keith Greene and Don Francisco, and all those before my kids generation of musicians like Michael W. Smith and Chris Tomlin who broke ground during a momentous era of the Lord's work. Even in Germany it was evident during the I FOUND IT Movement and the ONE WAY. We were there in the late 70s i am still learning.

Chuck’s music is as fresh today as it was back in the 70s in the early days of Willow. Still speaking to my heart, my wife’s heart.
Helped my brother give his life to Jesus as he was dying of brain cancer in 2020. Lay your Burden Down calmed his heart.
Thank you Chuck, Bill and Dave H. for an experience with Jesus that remains til this day in late 2021. 😇

God's church... my church for 45 years. Healing songs by Chuck Girard... before the 'crash'. God is teaching us and leading us every day. May it be so in all of our lives.

Redemption is a beautiful thing, though. Just watched an interview between Alisa Childers (Zoe Girl) and Chuck. When Jesus heals much, much gratefulness ensues. Thank you, Jesus for second and third chances

Thank you Chuck. Your heart, life, and music have effected my entire life since I made Jesus Lord. God used "Lay Your Burdens Down" to usher me into surrender in 77. Bless you, brother. Thanks again

48:17 - I am so, so, glad that you decided to include this one as this is without a doubt, my all time, favourite song/hymn of Chucks. EXTREMELY, powerful and emotionally impactful. Bless You a Thousand Times over Chuck, for birthing it into this world, and for it being a powerful blessing to countless millions over these decades since it has existed in this world. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. God Bless. Out.

Amazing songs that lift my soul and remind me of Jesus’ care and love. I’ve been able to meet with my psychology clients, who also need to know that they are important and to believe in themselves. That’s a lot from my experience

Visited the Movie Theater next to TJ Maxx when WillowCreek was just starting. They were showing Joni. Visited Bill’s Willow Creek Association Conference in 1999-hard to believe it was the same church! Thanks for your impact on my life and your love for the Lord. As I have heardd him say before, There is nothing like the Church of Jesus Christ when it is being the church of Jesus Christ. I grew up in California and Calvary Chapel Costs Mesa, Pastor Chuck Smith Church, Chuck Smith, Greg Laurie and Love Song

Slow Down is so immensely beautiful. The Norwegian chanteuse, Sissel, knocked it out of the park last summer with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

I remember ending up in the campus clinic one Indiana winter from taking on too much and wearing myself out to the point my immune system kind of collapsed and I was catching every germ that came by. A friend who'd been my first college roommate stopped by and didn't say a word, he just plugged in a tape record and popped in a cassette -- that was the first time I heard "Slow Down" and "Lay Your Burden Down" and they hit me like a big slap in the face and a kick in the butt and a hug I'd been needing for years without knowing it all at once.
Later that year our school had what was called an "Interim Term" where we students would design some learning project and get it approved. That former roommate and two other friends and I got a rather radical -- to the school at the time -- Intermin project approved, and packed four of us with luggage into a car too small for us all and drove straight through to Santa Monica and arrived just in time for worship with Pastor Chuck Smith, and after church got introduced to the head of a co-op, a house full of guys, almost all new Christians, where space for us had been arranged. We got to meet Chuck Girard and all the Love song folks and a lot more and spent time trying to understand, from our all-too-traditional backgrounds, just what had happened at Calvary Chapel to multiply it a hundredfold in just a few years.
I still had the tendency to take on more than I could handle, but those three friends and I had developed a bond during our dozen days there interviewing and observing, and whenever one of them would notice I was stretching myself too thin and far that same cassette tape would get popped into a tape player set on my dorm shelf. I even learned to play most of Chuck's songs on guitar!
I don't think I've listened to Chuck's music for over twenty years; tapes got lost when moving and technology moved on anyway and I couldn't manage to find the albums on CD -- which was sad because a couple of times since I've done it to myself again, stretching myself beyond my abilities and endurance, totally derailing and wrecking my life, and there weren't any friends around as close as those three who knew when to show up and set me straight with a couple of songs.
Now that I've stumbled across Chuck again here, I wonder if I've learned enough to know when I should "pop in" the right songs.

Crappy Christian music? I think it's a preference of style. I wouldn't call music before the hippie generation crappy. Seems like every generation thinks the one prior stinks. I think we need to learn to appreciate various styles.

    • @Traildude
      @Traildude Год назад

The thing is that church music and popular music had diverged heavily for generations, so church music did seem crappy to most people because it wasn't just the prior generation's music, it was music from three, four, and more generations earlier. When "Love Song" the album came out it was a change such as hadn't happened in quite a while because churches never welcomed outside music and stuck with singing things from a century or more before.

I am not sure I appreciate your calling the old songs of the faith as crappy. I like contemporary music, but I respect the hymns. Read the words, study the stories behind those songs. A snappy little song written out of joy doesn’t have the meat of “It is Well With My Soul”. Again, I listen to contemporary music daily, but I am picky. I want clear messages about God.
