    This was a interesting video and a very informative video. I do realize that this problem exists and this problem also happened to RUclipsr tools and Target. So I have been really watching the inside of my barrel of my sig Sauer p322 very close. I have fired a lot of dirty 22 ammo through mine including Remington Thunderbolts and I have probably fired around 1,000 rounds through my p322 and have not experienced any excessive leading in the barrel. So I feel very fortunate that I must have got a good barrel with mine.

    G4, out of the box my P322 was a nightmare. About 40 light strikes misfires, about 10 failure to feed, and after about 100 rounds, the barrel was coated in lead and I was getting key holes thru my paper targets.
    I spoke to a Sig rep, who emailed me an RMA to print out and send via FedEx. Before the email, I had to send him photos of the light strikes and the barrel. They had the gun for just one day. They sent us back with a new barrel and barrel spring. I took it back to the range and I had no problem at all. 120+ rounds of CCI mini mags. 0 misfires, 0 misfeeds, no leaded barrel. What a difference. The only thing I didn't do was wipe down the gun prior to use when I first got it. Could that have been the cause of was the barrel not to spec? Who knows.

    Maybe some barrels are a manufacturing lot error in the first lots of production but consider this also, 20 rounds mags can also cause more heat then most 22's that have half it's capacity like 10 and under before mag change, double the heat possibly, also a pencil thin barrel. so adding more heat, more burnt powder, wax from bullet coatings and a pencil thin barrel the chances are that every shot rapid fire is increasing the heat having 21 rounds to get it much hotter, I think the gun isn't for rapid fire or designed to handle rapid fire, I have this gun and no problems but have been shooting browning buckmak 22s since 1985, Buckmarks can rapid fire and stay cool some what but a pencil thin barrel on the Sig 322 and Taurus TX 22 you could get them to hot, I don't rapid fire my 22s but once in a while, constant rapid fire on any 22 pistol is hard on more then just the barrel, the firing pin cycling so fast you can get more light strikes, this is because the timing cycle can't keep up with the speed of your finger, the spring needs time to snap forward the firing pin, although rapid fire may be fun it's unnecessary because 22s have hardly any recoil, you do a mag dump in defense you will hit the target so no need to practice run and gun mag dumps, focus on good A zone hits like double taps or head shots. Another thing is the crown of barrel doesn't have a 11 degree crown but has been kept a straight crown for the suppressor adaptor, that's why you will notice a sharp crown with no angle, it's so that adaptor and suppressor don't have a angle gap when connecting it to barrel Wich would effect accuracy from bullets passing over gap. Heat will also give your mags issues doing rapid fire or guys tossing mags on the ground after reloads, you can still do your drill on sand and rocks but put something down like a used blanket or bed sheet. Heat, friction, carbon build up, lack of lube including feed ramp give 22s issues, you have more rounds you can fire then you 9 mm thus they get more dirty and need lube sooner and they need cool down time, 20 rounds rapid fire is more heat and friction meaning more problems, it's a fun plinker but needs to stay cool, lubed and cleaned even after a box of 100 CCI standard or mini mags

    Just a brief look into these problems that people are having with the sig p322 leading problem has me wondering about the threaded portion of the barrel that accepts the suppressor adapter. It seems that the lead only sticks to this area of the barrel. It seems like maybe heat generated during rapid fire of the gun is a factor. This would explain why some people may not be experiencing this problem because they may not speed shoot. It would be interesting if sig could solve this problem with a non-threaded barrel. Would be a simple solution that would satisfy most of the users experiencing this problem.

    This is a PITA for you to have to deal with. It seems that they may have a bad run of barrels. I have a P322 with a S/N in the 2000s and have put over 700 rds through mine without this problem. Over half of those have been the norma tac-22 as they are about the only I can get right now. The rest have been range ammo and I don't know what brand they sold me. I did check after watching your first video on this. The only leading I noticed was when I sent a magazine of the Punch through it. After that I ran the Norma again and the barrel was free and clear.

    I hope you end up with a good barrel next time. I got mine back in June or July. I've fired more than 1000 rounds so far, nearly all suppressed. No evidence of lead fouling so far, bore is bright and shiny. I've had a handful of light strikes but nothing major. I've been using Federal Automatch bulk pack and haven't cleaned the pistol to speak of. The accuracy seems good and the pistol shoots to POA. I guess I can say I got a good one. I was shooting at 7 yards just seven yards 21 ft and my group was all over that plate and they weren't bullet holes they were cuts in the paper or I mean plastic where the bullet had gone through apparently spinning or sideways in that short of distance. • @klastes9891
    @klastes9891 2 года назад +1

    I think I know what is a problem. In my new p322 i found that not diameter of barrel is an issue, but feeding bullet to chamber. When a bullet i moved to chamber it is scratched by groove between chamber rim and feeding notch . Scratching bullet causes two things : leaves free amount of lead in entry to barrel that could be pushed further by second bullet . Scratched bullet in one side allow the gas to penetrate between the bullet and barrel , causing lead heating and melting. It is quite simple to check - load bullet to chamber and remove it. When there are scratches then is the case. In my Ruger SR22 there is now one scratch - it has no notch . I do a simple handwork with file - I've saw a little bit more entry to chamber - now bullets are not scratched .

    • @g4outdoors
      @g4outdoors  2 года назад +1

      Plausible explanation! The gun still isn’t worth a dime if it won’t shoot properly.

    • @klastes9891
      @klastes9891 2 года назад +1

      @@g4outdoors I did some more research and found something interesting . Everyone with leading problem have mounted Holosun red dot on top of p322 including me. Holosun 507k is heavier than Romeo red dot. This makes slide run back slower - recoil spring seems to be to weak for Holosun. Low speed of slide causes that bullet don't bump properly in to feeding notch, and tending to go up - this could make additional scratching to bullet and make leading problem. Also with full mag loaded first round not going to enter the barrel properly (more pressure from mag spring need more strength from slide) I've extended this spring to give an extra power. Now everything works perfect. Feeding problem and surprisingly light primer strikes disappear (perhaps when bullet is pushed to chamber with greater power, the rim of bullet is more compressed, and dirt crushed?) Sig Sauer is aware of the recoil spring problem - they give stronger recoil spring to solve HV ammunition problem. www.sigtalk.com/threads/p322-extra-power-recoil-spring.425783/#post-6020166 . I hope this spring will be available to buy.

Barrel breaking in means shooting a few times, clean the inside of the barrel, then keep repeating the same process a few more times. Then when finished try shooting slowly without mag dumping. @@michaelchan877 “a lot of pro P322” 🤔. If a “pro” says that this is an ammo issue probably shouldn’t be titled a “pro” lol. I mean, I’m technically a pro and I say it’s the barrel.

    hey guys don't worry about buying P322. I ordered two P322 recently and have fired over 1000 rounds and there was absolutely no lead fouling at all. I don't know what they did but good job Sig! Two thumbs up!

    Not to sound like a douche, but I'm in the market for a 22 autoloader, p322 is a skip? My other option is the Glock 44 (first choice before discovering the p322). Taurus tx22 not appealing to me.

      Check out all of our latest videos! The 44 is great, the tx22 is great, if the Sig has a good barrel, it’s great too!

    Sig is too focused on quantity for government contracts. At this point, Taurus is a better company than Sig. I’m glad they’re getting sued for their Shake Awake firing technology in their P320s.

    I’ve seen some reports that this issue could possibly be prevented by a barrel break in process of firing one rd at a time through a clean barrel and then scrubbing the barrel clean between each shot. The recommendation is to repeat the process approximately ten times. The theory is that there is rough edges on the rifling and this process smoothes them over similar to lead lapping. Shooting anymore than a few rds at a time between cleaning will stop the process by coating the edges with deposits.

      The notion of breaking in a “tactical” 22lr handgun is ludicrous! Tell me why there are hundreds of thousands of $1,500 Volquartsen sold and never broke a barrel in nor required or recommended by the manufacturer! Tell me why my Ruger, Glock, Taurus, Browning, and Rough Rider doesn’t require a break in process. You really need to watch more of my P322 videos anyway. I shot 20, cleaned to 100%, shot 20, cleaned to 100%, and continued through 5 different ammo brands with the same results, lead puking out the barrel.

      That's an excessive process for a pricy 22lr in my opinion.. unnecessary and ridiculous.

    Weird how their newest guns keep failing in hysterically catastrophic ways, and yet the Army's basically granted them a monopoly on small arms for years to come...very strange...
    P320 wasn't drop safe, 70+ reported unintended - NOT negligent - discharges in 6 years with injuries to law enforcement abound, lawsuits piling up but SIG fixed all the Army's M17s immediately and left the entire civilian market to ROT, to voluntarily send theirs in for free fixes so they won't pop a fucking bullet into your thighs when JOSTLED nevermind dropped....now P322 showing even worse problems than Glock 44s exploding on users...just hysterical. I personally know more than one person who's worked inside the plants in NH, and they send piss-poor QC examples out the door all the fucking time. You won't catch me buying anything made by SIG in the past decade, I'll stick with my FN 509 and Ruger SR22

    I have to say I subscribed to your channel but Brian from tools and targets is arrogant and rude. If he talked to me like he did Sig, I wouldn’t help him out at all. And him making up lies on the lady at Sig? Yeah she said some stuff but Brian told a lie and made up stuff on her that she didn’t say, he made that shit up.
