    Very helpful video review! I really appreciate your breakdown of the physics and mechanics on the lift and its braking system. Great information for curious adults like me.

      Ya, I'll have to learn how to add chapter points or something for easier navigation of longer videos.

    To be fair, wheels have no choice but eventually degrade.
    Whole mechanism depends on them working under pretty massive pressure and friction. I personally believe that replacing tires for older ones could extend the life of the mechanism since Lego few years ago went green and made their rubbery parts more biodegradable, and therefore just overall weaker, but sooner or later any kind of tire would die in mechanism like this.
    But then again, unless you'll keep it constantly on, I doubt you'll see any degradation of the mechanism any time soon anyways

    I have been all over the set and even replaced the power up hub. Purchased everything as listed in the instructions. The hub connects to blue tooth but nothing else happens no calibration, no motor noise, nothing. The app shows that it is sending the signal. Very discouraged. Has anyone else had this issue? I am about ready to return both motors and hub and just manually crank the thing.

      Ever get a fix? Having exact same issue right now

      @@chrisclc13 yes I did. The answer is in the next thread. Alex was kind enough to type out the instructions for the firmware update. good luck to you as well.

    Just found out that a firmware update was required. No instructions or help anywhere online. Had to spend an hour with tech support to find out and instructions for update are nowhere online. Expect so much more from a high end company

      Wow. Glad you finally figured it out and only wish it wasn't such a hassle. Thanks for sharing with us all!

      Thanks for this, spent hours trying to sort it out and have let Lego support know my feelings. Here's the procedure for anyone else having the same problem - Alrighty, before updating the firmware, please check if the Powered Up app needs to be updated.
      Once the app is up to date follow the below steps:
      Open the app;
      Tap on Create on the top right corner;
      Create a new project or open one of the projects you already created;
      Tap on the Bluetooth Connection button;
      Now press and hold the green button on your hub - when the light flashes purple don’t let go!
      Tap the “LEGO bootloader” hub that shows up in the connection dialogue in the app (while still holding the green button)
      When the hub light changes colour and starts flashing blue, red and green let go of the button.
      Keep an eye on your device’s screen so it doesn’t lock or shut off until the firmware update is complete.
      Once the firmware is updated the hub will restart automatically. To make sure everything is all set, restart the app as well before connecting the hub as normal again.

      The slippage come from the A motor it disengages the clutch and it doesn’t sync up with the app I have the same problem

    Can you do it with just the b motor

    • @mjsmiley
      @mjsmiley  9 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure. Maybe not with custom configuration the app has for the set. But maybe if you just aim to control the motor with the general functions that would probably work and then manually flip the other toggle.

    Just added the powered up functions but it doesn't work. The chain is't slipping, but the "engine" just won't pull it high enough if it pulls at all. Seriously dissapointed.

    • @mjsmiley
      @mjsmiley  2 года назад

      Things to check: count your chain and tread links. It'd easy to be off by one. Make sure you have the right motor. It can't be the light weight motor. Hope you find the culprit.

      @@mjsmiley Gonna check the chaincount, but now it won't actually pull at all. All it does is try to release the left switch (the one that drops the elevator manually). It clicks and you can see the whole mechanism with the cog and chain getting pulled ever so slightly to the left. Also checked for an update for the app but nothing.

      Ah, double check that the motors are hooked up to the right axils. Sounds like you may have them swapped. You can just swap the cables in the battery pack to test.

      @@mjsmiley Did that already and that did not work. I'll let it rest for now and try again tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

      @@hellbrendy I'll say that I had a hard time getting it to work at first too. I couldn't figure out which motor went where and why my chain slipped...or even what some of the buttons did in the app. I had to swap motors and tighten up the chain...and it still seems like it struggles.
