THANK YOU! As soon as i heard that topic, I said "stickers on cartridge labels or fragile parts of the game". I have a store near me that puts all their price stickers on the labels even though there is plenty of room on the cartridge plastic. The sticky residue is really hard to get off without damaging the label.
Here's how I remove the most sticky of stickers in under 1 minute.. get a heat gun or blow dryer. keep it about 1" away and move the heat gun in a sweeping motion back and forth, for about 20-30 seconds, do not keep it stuck in one place, begin to peel and repeat if necessary until it peels off with extreme ease. lastly, a small dab of lighter fluid onto a micro fibre cloth and dab or wipe away the sticker residue if any, and any lighter fluid "stain" will evaporate within seconds. DO NOT USE GOO GONE. No damage, no smell, just a clean removal. I've never once ruined a record jacket by removing price stickers and i've literally removed thousands. However, with an NES or SNES cart for example, why not just put the sticker on the plastic? no need to place it on the picture label. cheers!
You can't always expect a brick and mortar store to be cheaper than Ebay. I know from personal experience being a pretty successful ebay/amazon seller. My overhead costs are nothing because I run my business out of my garage/basement. If I attempted to relocate to a brick and mortar even just for storage purposes I would be looking at an increase of 5-10k a month additional costs. Right now my only costs are the occasional supplies which I am mostly compensated for via shipping fees.
My only local game store in Spokane Washington. They do almost every pev you guys said. They don’t price all the high dolor stuff and even stuff that is priced they relook it up and will increase the price if it went up. They don’t go down just up. Horrible they have their own tax also they look price charting then add a 10% tax on the price of the game they call it Matt tax for the owner. Just horrible business but it’s the only retro gaming store we got.
blockbuster stickers are relics and need to be preserved just like the games they are attached to, they tell a story about the life span of the game along side blockbusters
Yes labels/condition is a big one for me! My local (Retro Game Shop ) sells a lot of damaged cartridge label games for ridiculous prices! Also CIB games destroyed boxes and destroyed manuals asking top dollar even $30 or $40 over price charting.... They have had a copy of Stunt Racer N64 for a good two years now with a ripped label asking top dollar
I’ve thankfully never encountered the pricing thing, but I know some stores in my area that use industrial strength adhesive stickers that are an absolute *nightmare* to get off. So yeah, spending 20 minutes getting a sticker off and having my game stink like goo gone for 3 days is probably my biggest pet peeve.
Why I don’t go to the few local stores near me well one guy owns both of them is if you ask him a price on something there will be no prices on anything and he looks up for what it’s selling for on eBay and he basically offers you the same price. I remember a game was $110 and he wasn’t budging so I walked out and bought it on eBay. I personally think if you’re gonna use eBay as a price chart at least do it not right in the face of the customer and I also think you should have a better price Give me some incentive $10 less $15 left less he probably paid $20 for the game. I just think it’s tacky to do that in front of the customer and I don’t even think you should do that. And I’ve never been back to his store and probably bought another few hundred games since then. If he was smart, and if he had to do that in my face, he should’ve said I’ll give it to you $20 less than eBay or something. I really think businesses really like to shoot themselves in the foot. They’ll spend a lot of money advertising, but then when they have a customer that is actually in the store instead of going above and beyond to impress that customer you kind of crap on him I don’t know if that’s the way all those businesses work. I just think it’s very tacky. I would never do thatand if I did do that you better believe it would be a better price than eBay.
When shops don't prices on ANYTHING (they gotta look up each price) or they have stuff not ready for sale sitting there and they won't put it out for sale.
Good vid people on the sticker thing wouldn't it be better to put a SKU code on the product on the computer and then when you scan it it tells you the price, works pretty well so you wouldnt need a sticker then just your phone 😊
Acclaim (owner of LJN) made their own cartridges and labels for some of their releases, which both have terrible aging issues. The cartridges tend to tint greenish-brown, and the the labels are made out of cheap paper that the glue seeps through. The labels are easily spotted by their black text on white background end labels, and include Alien 3, Bart vs. the World, George Foreman's K.O. Boxing, The Incredible Crash Dummies, Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball, Smash TV, T&C Surf Design: Thrilla Safari, Terminator 2, Wizards & Warriors III, WWF: King of the Ring, and WWF: Wrestlemania - Steel Cage Challenge.
