So beautiful how you created such an ethereal feel of traveling between two worlds. As if you were lifting the veil of one world to let us traverse into the other. 💕
I liked that the rain faded in and out between the two cuts. That may be because I have a soft spot for walking in the rain perhaps. Regardless the black and white aesthetic is also something I have a soft spot for. There's nothing quite like walking at night, with a light drizzle of rain and with a lack of other people to just allow your mind to quiet itself. I like the video and I wouldn't be averse to watching more videos keyed in monochrome.
Hello. Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing well. Thanks very much for your feedback. It appears we share a similar interest in rain walks at night as well as the B&W aesthetic :) It is such a different vibe compared to daytime and like you say it allows for the mind to quiet itself. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. OAAW
@@OutandaboutWalking Yeah, night walking is the best. Little to no traffic, people or noise. That and the fact you can smell things such as plants and trees a lot easier than you would during the busier daytime especially when the air is still. It all adds up to a very different experience than walking in the daytime. I seem to have quite a few videos of yours to watch now. I guess my Sunday just got a little more pleasant and enjoyable.
Breathtakingly beautiful. Cirencester is my very favorite town in England. LOVE the monochrome aspect of this video. It adds so much to the beauty and tranquility of the walk. The transition from rain to quiet was delightful. Well done❤

Well my friend, your getting so creative & I love it. I felt like I was inside an old black & white movie that bounced between takes. It was amazing & the rain was heavenly. It was mystical & enchanting & even a bit spooky in the really dark areas. You always make these walks special, interesting & always wonderful but this one had some velvety layers that I was not expecting. Your creativity is shinning, thank you for allowing us to be a part if it. ❤

Hi Ana. Thank you for your lovely and thoughful comment my friend. Glad you enjoyed another night walk :) . Have a nice and restful Sunday too. All the best to you. OAAW
I found the black and white imagery to be very effective, and evocative. Very film noir, which had me picturing people in trench coats and fedoras lurking in the shadows, but also poetic, as with the blurry moon through the bare branches, recalling Ivor Gurney's poem, Old Martinmas Eve. You're the artist, you'll know when it's appropriate to further explore this technique.
As this walk was a shorter one, I had the pleasure of watching it all in one sitting- and I used my earbuds. (What a difference that makes; at the end, I felt as if the water was flowing through our house!). I liked the monochrome very much for this type of walk, as colors don’t show up too well at night, anyway. I think this type of film creates a greater contrast, more clarity, and a more dramatic effect. (The moon at the top of the bare tree was a stunning shot!). I also feel that when filming old places- old buildings, old grounds, etc.- the black and white format adds to the antiquity, and represents the places more truly. I am not a huge movie watcher, but when I have watched a period piece that was originally filmed in black/white- particularly if the subject is of a more serious nature- I generally do not care to see it get colorized. It must be very interesting for you to try different techniques and various ways of filming, in addition to varying where and when you take your viewers on walks! Photography is definitely artistry, but the tool is your camera rather than paintbrushes or pencils. Thank you for sharing this latest bit of your artistry with us! :) It’s rainy here today, and I think a rain walk by the river will be on my afternoon’s schedule! :) P. S. I did hear the owl…..🦉
Hi Janet. Good to hear from you today. The idea 💡 that I mentioned the other day (inspired by your comment) was actually for this video…to turn it into B&W. Earbuds to do make all the difference to the listening experience on these walks as 99% of them are recorded with binaural microphones. Monochrome does seem to work well for nighttime olde-worlde type walks, creates a unique atmosphere :). I don’t think I have watched a film in years, same for TV, anything I watch tends to be on RUclips :) Have a good rainy-river walk. All the best and thanks for your time. OAAW
@@OutandaboutWalking Oh, it’s nice to know that this was the idea you had the other day! It worked well. I watch things almost exclusively on RUclips, too- as I can select what appeals to me and watch it when convenient. The B/W movie I was thinking of (which I have on a DVD) is the 1951 British version of Scrooge- which in my opinion (others may differ) is the absolute best version of Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic. I only watch this version, and I only watch the B/W option on our DVD; it just looks more real, and like the time period in which it was written. Have a good rest-of-the-weekend! :)

Hey OAAW~ This was fun! Nicely done. Shades of It’s a Wonderful Life or a film noir classic… that was classic for the art of the photography as much as for the art of the story. Interesting. 👏🏻 My dad was a commercial photographer who got me into b&w and b&w infrared. I used to do diptychs of a scene using both versions of photography. So fun. And so enlightening - we get into grooves of how we experience life that can be rather limiting. Have you thought about expanding on your experiment? Like summer/winter, day/night, color/b&w, etc.? Thank you for sharing this. 🎥
Hi Cheryl. Thanks for your lovely comment. I know for sure I would of gotten on really well with your dad as I pretty much love anything to do with cameras and video cameras...the two are fairly interchangeable. His knowledge and wisdom would of been tremendous! I have thought about doing more along those lines and delving in deeper. There is something about b&w that is so appealing. Do you still spend time on it? All the best to you. OAAW
@@OutandaboutWalking Hey OAAW~ Yeah…. My dad was a great teacher - passion and a huge desire to share with people. He saw life through his lenses in a lot of ways. I got out of it because I did not like digital. I much preferred analog. @@OutandaboutWalking Hey OAAW~ I am disappointed: I did not get notification of this comment. So here I am now, having seen your more recent comment on another video…. My dad was a quiet man who lived passionately. He was not showy at all in any way. He loved to share his passions with people who were interested. That sharing was how he got me interested in photography. And he was one of the best teachers I ever had about anything. I think you would have enjoyed each other and sharing your curiosity about the world. Not many people have that. I have seen people painting with light as you describe. I never got into that much as my hand-eye coordination is not that great. What I did was play around using a flashlight, both statically and dynamically, to change an aspect of what I was photographing. It was fun and got me out of the groove of seeing things as they seem to be in our physical reality. I hope someday you decide to share your light painting… a light painting in a field in The Cotswolds with the Milky Way as your backdrop… now that sounds inspired and inspiring! It’s time to enjoy the weekend. I will be getting up early tomorrow to watch the Trooping the Colour. I understand Princess Catherine is planning to be there. Brilliant. Be well….

To me, it's pretty amusing cause if you do that where I live, the cops show up in no time and you better have a good explanation....there's probably a lot less crime where you live and that's good....
Yes, that has happened but only once so far. Fortunately I am able to substaniate what I am doing so that the police can see that my intentions are entirely legitimate. Can't blame anyone for ringing the cops tho better to be safe than sorry.
