I have the Epi Veil of Bees version, it’s an excellent guitar and a terrific value considering the specs are more correct to a real 70’s Gibson Custom compared to the $3000 Gibson Adam Jones, which has the specs all wrong. I have USA Gibsons and Gibson custom shop Les Pauls, anyone saying these are overpriced (considering how they’re spec’d and with the really nice case) should think again.
@@chrisminor8742I have 3 Epiphone Inspired by Gibson and Inspired by Custom Shop. My Epiphones are excellent guitars. They look great, play great and sound great. I feel like I got great deals. I couldn’t care less what’s on the headstock. Many, many people are headstock snobbery. I see more and more Epiphones on stage with professionals. If the most recorded studio guitarist in Nashville (Brent Mason) always has his Epi Slash Les Paul when he’s in the studio and he uses it, I think it’s good enough for little ole men! Non professional guitar players are so worried about what people, and very few at that, think or say when you’re playing the budget brands on stage. I could care less. All 3 of mine usually go to every gig with me along with my MIM Fenders and a couple of Michael Kelly’s. I’m proud of every guitar I own. I too was a headstock snob many years ago and thankfully I’m out of that stage.
I was fortunate to get one of the Berserker ones from the second run. One of my favorite guitars and I prob play and enjoy it as much as my Gibsons. These Epiphones are stellar!
I recently picked up an Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy that has a similar burst finish but with a flame maple grain. Besides being a really nice looking instrument, it also came with the Fishman pick-ups with split coils. I changed the hardware to be more like the Custom model (wasn't a fan of the metal knobs) and replaced the truss rod cover with a custom made cover plate. The best part is I was able to pick it up for less than $700 during a good sale. Considering swapping out the pick-ups, but I'm keeping the split-coil set up. Very impressed with Epiphone of late and don't see a reason to pay the added cost of a Gibson.
There is absolutely a non art version coming. It can be seen at the end of the Epiphone promo video for the Julie Heffernan “Study for self-portrait”. It’s back left in the lineup.
I own the Veil of Bees. It is, by far, the best Les Paul that Epiphone has ever produced. The Jerry Cantrell Custom Wino comes in at a close second place.
I almost got one of these but I'm not big on the artwork on the backside. I'm glad I waited because I ordered the 1979 Adam Jones no-art model. I'm still waiting for them to be back in stock. They must have sold out immediately.
John & Zack, looks Way to Kool to have turned around!!! But wonderful just like the Rest in the Adam Jones Collections, great beautiful Art and GUITARS 🎸🤠🤘
I may have been lucky, but so far every one I've received has been perfect...actually 1 of the volume knobs on one of them was loose, easy fix. As far as what do I think of Epiphones approach? Crazy smart. I love the idea...if anything, maybe wish not so many different art. I thought they were going to come out with a non-art version....no? I totally agree this is a "buy".
I’ve played one and it was properly set up before I had the opportunity. It is NOT an Epiphone Custom like the old Silverburst or the other customs. It is definitely a unique neck and extremely “Gibson” as far as feel and playability. I own a Silverburst Custom and it’s a good guitar but the Adam Jones really is a different beast. The main difference is the C shaped neck. Not thin, not a baseball bat, but solid medium. Is it worth $1300? Honestly, that’s hard to spend on this. For $1300 you can buy a Schecter Solo with stainless frets, locking tuners, and Lungrens, or even a specked out LTD. This guitar should be $999 as a artist model. All that said, it was extremely hard not to buy it. Yes it’s overpriced but man, it is a cool guitar
I played one of these yesterday in a store and it feels cheap. It's the new one without the tacky art on it and an actual Gibson shaped head stock. It's rediculous heavy as well. Like heavier than my Artist TC59 that I demoed a few years ago. The neck is super sticky and feels exactly the same as a Epiphone Les Paul standard or Epiphone Les Paul Custom You're paying 300% more for a Seymour Duncan pickup, a Silverburst finish and fake Schaller tuners that are not very precise and jump a bit as I discovered oh and a cheap plastic Epiphone hardcase. Also just below the Adam Jones hanging on the wall in the store was a Brand New Gibson SG standard in limited TV yellow for the same asking price. Beautiful👍And to the left was a Fender Ultra Strat for less than both. You'd have to be an absolute Smeg to buy a Chinese guitar over a US.😂
I would have bought The Berserker version but am not interested in the other art. Don't know what the last two will be so maybe. It has some nice features but it's still an Epiphone. I hate jazz.
Hey Guys - IDK if you’ve heard but Firefly Guitars just made their version of this guitar that was available for all of 24 hrs! I was lucky enough to snag one and there’s a video about it on my channel. I also plugged you guys and this video as best I could (1st YT video ever!). Hope you’ll check it out! BTW I’m also from the Chicago area living in Denver now (go Bears!).
Should bring out a non art version as I think they would sell no problem. Has anyone asked Gibson/Epiphone about releasing one without art on the back?.
Adam likes the number 7. 4,900 is a lot of guitars. I was too afraid they won't make a non art version. Even though they do show a plain back in the image on the initial launch. So it could happen. Seeing how much they are charging for the Greeny and seeing the price increase of the new color JJN Blues Power. I feel like i made the right choice not waiting. We'll find out eventually. I definitely would have preferred a cheaper non art version.
@@chrisminor8742they haven't officially announced anything about it. There's a picture of a back in promo stuff. That is all. Supposedly they are $1,500 and have Gibson headstock. Supposedly mid February. We'll see what happens. There's some people that claim they have ordered them already. But that isn't Epiphone confirming anything. Odd to say you have an order but have no clue of specs 🤷♂️.
Adam is doing a signing in town Tomorrow at Gibson Garage. I'm going. Maybe they'll say something about it 🤷♂️. I doubt it. But maybe. I'm sure people will be asking 🤣
Agree John, I have a Veil of Bees EPI AJ and the initial setup was a mile off the fretboard :) I got it lowered down and love that guitar now. It acts like my VOS as being very hot but amazingly playable. I still don't get how my 80 Silverburst is so much more quiet than these newer ones, but that's a discussion for another day :)
This is actually my favourite art. But sadly it’s too expensive, even if good value. I just bought a new guitar already too so even if I was in the market. The timing is wrong for me.
Nice review! I'd like to get one, but none of the art designs so far really appeal to me. However, my wife likes the Vail of Bees edition (1st released). These Les Pauls are a great value though. I notice the burst looks a little bit off on the one you're playing in the video. The tear drop shape on the treble side looks curved in.
I like the concept of the art, but I'm getting Adam Jones fatigue with every month or six weeks having to see a new one of these, enough already. Epiphone should have release all 7 versions on the same day or spaced them out every 4-6 months and done the set over a 2-3 year time frame. Either way I'm like a lot of others I'm just waiting or the plain no art version.
Depends what you’re after. If you want a cool Les Paul, in silverbust that says ‘Gibson’ on it, I’d go Gibbo. If you want to get Jones tones, a cheaper guitar that is as close to his spec as possible for the budget, I’d go Epi.
I just got a great deal on a used Berserker model. I think it’s great that they offer 7 different art offerings, considering I only like 3 of them. Been a Frank Frazetta fan since I was a little kid. I think the reason that the sales “slowed down” after the release of “Veil of Bees”, & “the Berserker”, is because I think the artwork for the next 3 just isn’t that appealing to the general demographic of Tool fans & male guitar players. I can’t wait to get mine, I’m sure it’s going to be amazing. To be honest, I don’t know what rig you are running through, but the tone you are getting is not IMHO very Adam Jonesish, & has way too much low tone & not enough high & mid. Sounds muddy. Sorry
That art is odd and doesn't make any sense on a guitar. I don't like any of the tacky screen prints on any of the Adam Jones Epiphones do date. Would have preferred nothing on the back at all or at least something that's much more related to TOOL albums and Adam Jones own art. At $3299 Australian it's rediculous for a Chinese guitar. A standard Epiphone Les Paul custom is only $1199 Australian. What do you get really for the $2000 increase? Well nothing really. You get a silver burst finish with some tacky corny mass produced screen print on the back compliments of some guitar guy in china named Sum Yung Gi and Knock off Schaller tuners a fake Gibson neck pick up and a cheap plastic hard case worth about $99. You're essentially paying and extra $2000 for a Seymour Duncan bridge pickup. I'm $2000 away from an actual Gibson Les Paul Adams Jones standard.😂 Or for $2000 or less all up I could buy an American built Fender.
Nahhh $1300 for an epiphone is trash. Wow a Case and a Duncan? Totally worth the $500 upcharge. Can get way better Korean made guitars from tons of other brands for that or even a used ESP. gotta love the Trogly Jr vibes here. 90% Gibson, 5% fender, 5% other- how daring. Yawn.

I’ve also got the bees. It plays soo well. I’m hoping they really do release a non artwork Adam jones so I can have one to play heavily
They are 100% overpriced! I decided to go ahead and buy one and was highly disappointed. Not worth $1300, $800 max!

Would have liked to have seen one with the Gibson open book headstock. They have done this with the greeny I see.
I’ll wait and see if they actually do a non art version. If it does I’ll totally get it
They did. It's the gibson version.
I got the self portrait which is the best looking so far but so available
It arrived in perfect condition, needed a slight tune on the bridge but otherwise a great guitar and case
If you look at the original post about this line. Epiphone said 7 custom art releases and 1 non art version
@@themusicthrills9282 And with the way Epiphone's pricing has been, the non-art version will be $1800 with no case and Probuckers

Beautiful Les Paul!!!❤ Loved the "Peter Green Inspired" flipped around humbucker in the rhythm position.❤
Wasn’t inspired by greenie at all.
It was Buzz Osborne
@@ItsJustRyan89 Buzz copied what Greenie did in the 60's.

Interested in how the DC High-Gain Humbucker, in the bridge of the Gibson version, compares to the Seymour Duncan Distortion in the Epi???

The last guitar that they are releasing in this line is going to be a plain adam jones custom. I believe it's releasing soon.

Yeah I think they lowkey dropped the ball on the les Paul version. Just seems like a regular les Paul
China done messed up the burst paint job on that one. Left side is good, right side has no curve and is wider 🙄
