I probably hadn't seen this since around the time it came out. Bowie's mastery of adding visual arts to his music transferred over the MTV perfectly. He did it with Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane, way before videos
No human being on this planet has ever been, will ever be, could ever be.........as cool as this man. David Bowie was ice wrapped in flesh, coolest mother-f*cker in the universe, and he left us waaaaaaaaaay too soon.
I absolutely love Bowie's look in this video, the make up is superb & hair style/colour is great. Tried copying it years ago at the barbers & it looked pants compared to Bowie's! lol
BengeJ Uknowit I love his lookon this video. If I went out looking like that, I would look outrageous, but Bowie is so cool, he could pull anything off.
I tried the same thing when I was a kid back in 1985 but with the make up and just like you said, ...pants! 😆 I looked bizarre, like some poor reject in shitty Halloween make up. Lol
I like how he parodies himself here playing an obnoxious fan with a girlfriend. And he actually stood up for the right causes. When he asked why there were no black performers on MTV the answer made him roll his eyes. He knew it was racism and that was unacceptable. MTV finally had to give in.
Fun fact: At 0:57, you can see Richard Fairbrass on bass guitar. He would later go on to sing lead vocals on the song "I'm Too Sexy" in his band, Right Said Fred, which he formed with his brother Fred in 1989.

the first David Bowie video I ever saw.... I was a teenage girl who was feeling very left out at the social scene at Highschool... I fell in love with evvvverything. And so my journey continued with the otherworldly and accepting who I am... Thank you, David Bowie.

I love when he do his Dance moves !😭😭I love every little thing about him
He's so pretty.
5 years without you, David .. but you are always on our minds !!
We miss you ............................... !
This is the greatest artist to ever live pure genius on another level
I absolutely love Bowie's look in this video, the make up is superb & hair style/colour is great. Tried copying it years ago at the barbers & it looked pants compared to Bowie's! lol
BengeJ Uknowit
I love his lookon this video. If I went out looking like that, I would look outrageous, but Bowie is so cool, he could pull anything off.
And The costume of the band
I tried the same thing when I was a kid back in 1985 but with the make up and just like you said, ...pants! 😆 I looked bizarre, like some poor reject in shitty Halloween make up. Lol
I actually saw him live in concert in Pennsylvania in the 90's , what a performance, so memorable.
I still remember seeing this as child and just wondering Who he was!
Who was he?
One of the Greats!
David Bowie was a gorgeous man hands down he was Hot !!! Rest In Peace Beautiful man with a killer voice.
MattCraftDotDerp I was going to mention that as a jokey look a like, didn't realise it was actually him lol
My girlfriend at the time was in Right said Freds video Deeply Dippy :-) But i really came here for Bowie
Haha that's awesome!!
Wow!!is he a real bassist?
@@williammclauchlan2610 he is! he was in Bowie's band at the time, hence his presence in this video
Man, I miss the 80's! 🎉
This song is really underrated. It deserves way more views
@0:57. Richard Fairbrass from Right Said Fred.
Unforgetable unic man/woman ! The artist with so many faces ! We still love you timeless artist !
!
I have *always* loved his makeup. The jean Genie? Love this.
One of the best videos and songs....in my mind i relate this with the Jagger's "just another night"...fantastic both...
I really like this song. I feel like it never got the respect it deserved. Same with Panic in Detroit.
Yes it did. It was a hit, and played very loudly in all the clubs in New York.
Bowie always had that touch of class.
4 years without you... I miss you so much. I have to say I’ve never felt a bond towards someone as I do to Bowie. Your music has helped me through some dark times, hope you’re happy in heaven, the most talented being to exist....
David Bowie died on the same day as my grandmother...my last grandparent. Not a good day.
Man... those days and that music was seemingly that every one was happy....80’s
For me the world changed when David Bowie passed away RIP ICON
the first David Bowie video I ever saw.... I was a teenage girl who was feeling very left out at the social scene at Highschool... I fell in love with evvvverything. And so my journey continued with the otherworldly and accepting who I am... Thank you, David Bowie.
That drum fill at 1:29 so delicious and simple!
I love that there are roles for both David Bowie and David Jones here.
I remember this when it was first shown on MTV in the 80's.The video i believe was 17 minutes long.A first and only effort.Only Bowie was allowed this gift and he accomplished his groundbreaking goal.
Me too. It was so cool. Only song I can remember the first time I heard it. If I didn't already had my baby girl I would have named her Blue Jean 💙
The greatest artistic chameleon of all time!!! How he managed to stay on top of the game generation after generation... something that only comes along once in a lifetime if that often. So glad I got to see this guy's entire career unfold for the ages. You earned your rest David. Go in peace you beautiful soul you.
Bowie at his best, we always loved this track.
This dude was just always way ahead of his time and operated on a different level.
David Bowie was from another PLANET. Literally an alien among us.😳😳😳
