Bailey's Baby Girl Giraffe Calf Update: A Quick Exam with Dr. Liza

- We're back with an update on Bailey's one-day-old giraffe calf! We noticed the little girl's front legs were bent yesterday, which does happen with newborn calves and has been known to correct itself over time. This morning and during overnight checks, we saw that her front right leg had straightened significantly, but she was still holding her front left leg at an angle.
This morning, we decided to get a closer look at her. In this video, we'll take you behind the scenes for baby's first check-up, which included weighing her, getting x-rays, taking a blood sample and manipulating her front legs to see how her joints are doing. (Stay tuned until the end for baby's first boop!) After today's exam, we believe she has constricted ligaments, which should loosen over the next few days. Her blood test results from this morning all came back normal, too!
We'll keep you posted on this little girl! You can also watch her 24/7 on our temporary live indoor cam at cmzoo.org/giraffecam or on our RUclips channel at / cmzoocs . To learn more about Bailey and her calf, read yesterday's announcement: www.cmzoo.org/...

🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I noticed many of the female calves over the past few years haven't had good luck. Is there a genetic tie to females and leg/health issues?? Hoping this one makes it, giraffe world needs more females. Especially with April retired and Johari not far behind.
Your saying first time mom I thought Bailey had been a mom before.
Is she going to be able to go outside soon?
Preferirei che sorridano le Giraffe.
Thank you so much for the update! Thank you for your hard work.
