She won against a brilliant comedian by the name of Preacher Lawson. Even though he came in second place. That alone, has given him the opportunity to have a reservation in Las Vegas. He’s extremely funny. He’s got some funny things to say about how Darci beat him without even opening her mouth.

When I was younger, i took out a book from the library about how ventriloquism works. You need to substitute letters that you use you lips for with letters you use you tongue for. Like the 'm' sound you use the 'n' sound, the 'p' sound, you use the 't' sound. And the 'v' sound you use soft 'th' sound and the 'f' sound you use the hard 'th' sound. For example, to say 'money' instead you'd say 'noney', to say 'woman' you'd say 'wonan'. It takes a lot of practice to convince people that you're saying the actual words without moving your lips.
It's fairly obvious that there is a back-up recording, But that back-up is there in the original too. Darci/Edna is doing the parts that the credited singer (I forgot who it was) did in the original.
Helpful hint Van. Unclench your jaw and don’t bite down while you’re trying to talk. I still haven’t figured out how they make certain sounds like b, f, m, p, and v! I just don’t know how they do those sounds. This little girl is amazing. Great reaction 🌺✌️

It is real. Her ventriloquist coach has an interview on the RUclips talking about preparing her for these performances. Only time will tell but I have a feeling she may end up being one of the biggest stars coming out of AGT. Take care all.

Awesome! She has a duet in that competition where it's the bunny and a character you haven't reacted too. But Ones a guy ones a girl and she does the duet song of I get by with a little help from my friends it's impossible.

if you pay attention, you can see movement in her throat where like if you watch Jeff Dunham you'll see his adam's apple move when any of the puppets talk
Ventriloquists have excellent throat, tongue and vocal cord control. Like with any muscle, practicing and exercising will get you better results. A vocal coach will go a long way in learning how to master the skills necessary to be a ventriloquist. Im unsure if Darci could sing before ventriloquism, but the skills she learned likely didnt hurt her possible singing ability, if not enhanced them. Side note: if you think about it, in a roundabout, simplistic way, this is why it tends to be a challenge learning to speak and properly pronounce a new language. All languages require different manipulations of the throat, cords and tongue.
She is skilled. The fact that she sings so well while doing ventriloquist is a rare talent. But the basics are substitution of certain consonants. For example, the P sound is replaced with a T sound, or a B is replaced with a D, or an M is replaced with an N. So the world "Problem"" becomes "Trodlen". Half the work is that our brains will interpret it as long as it looks right. But the performer still needs to make it seem like they are using the correct letter sound. Jeff Dunham has an instruction book that comes with a doll he sells at his shows, and in there he says to think the right letter while pronouncing the wrong one, and it will come out sounding better. But another factor is that this is hours upon hours of practice. If this is a passion, she could easily spend 20 hours a week practicing even with school. That's over 1,000 hours a year. I don't think it's been 1,000 hours since you heard of her. (43 days 8 hours.) I've screwed around with this skill, but never really took it seriously. But it is fun to drive around and cuss out people without opening up your mouth too far. You cuss them out, and it looks like you are just sitting there emotionless.
There are coaching videos you can get to learn ventriloquism. Ive done it a bit. Im not on any professional level but I've done it for kids. It only takes practice and a few helpful tips.
