    People work, resumes don't. Employers should meet face-to-face with people who are seeking employment. Many, many, professional and skilled people are out of work for years because employers are judging people based on a sheet of paper.

    • @AngeloR674
      @AngeloR674 10 лет назад +1

      WRONG! resumes tell employers all about you from start to finish! YOU GET ONE CHANCE WITH THAT! TO MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION!

    • @halliemhughes6292
      @halliemhughes6292 10 лет назад +8

      AngeloR674 Image is everything! A resume does not dress for success. A resume does not show that one can arrive on time (or early) for work. A resume does not take tests or perform tasks. Can a resume operate a computer? Can a resume demonstrate responsibility? What skills do resumes have? Must I go on?

    • @icekeng
      @icekeng 10 лет назад +1

      AngeloR674 That's incorrect actually, a resume is just you on paper. You can actually have no resume and sell yourself. It's up to the individual on how he/she sells themselves. Someone could just as well make up all that stuff on a paper if they wanted to and make fake references. You can disagree if you'd like.

    • @icekeng
      @icekeng 10 лет назад +4

      Hallie Hughes I 100% agree with you. A resume is just you on paper. I can make up anything, put fake references and be possibly "qualified." lol

    I work for Tony. He is a workhorse. Every conversation he has with candidates or clients is authentic. He has a great deal of compassion, understanding, and patience and treats everyone with respect and interest. I learn every day from this man. I am not easily duped, believe me; Tony is the real thing.

    I agree. An objective can always work in your favor if written the right way. In it you can let the employer know how long you would like to work with them and what kind of position, wether it be full time or part time you are seeking. It can also show off your writing skills and your way of communicating with the employer. My resume has an objective, experience, education, selected associations, volunteering, skills, and references. And remember to keep it only one page! Good luck!

    A great resume is vital to a successful job search - especially when competition is so fierce. Your resume has to show the difference you would make to a company.

      Jennifer Cooper This is so true! I try to share this with my students too on my RUclips Channel. It's important to stand out in a tough job market.

    This is great advice. I was just hired recently and it took one month after finishing college. I was applying at five jobs every day. I would non stop search. One website I would recommend people using is indeed. Also, it helps a lot if you get your resume looked over by the academic center at your university. Good luck!

    nice tips. This is who I worked for, this is what I did and this is how successful we were. Terrific! Burden of proof is a bitch though. How can I prove all these things?
    the web site isn't there anymore. Was disappointed it was .com and not .org. Does that mean it costs?

    This man knows nothing about resumes. Most employers want and need to see both an Objectives and Skills section.

  • @mand1sh3p

    Deleting objective may be a good idea...I just got back in school so I need space for that new line.

  • @divalish1
    @divalish1 13 лет назад

    @helpercoach I agree! Although with the skills he's saying that this guys wording for his skills is to general, he's not telling him to take them off completely, just to make them more specific. But yeah, what does he mean get rid of the objective?!?! That's not a good idea.

    what about capitalization? Do I capitalize every first letter of a word? Do I capitalize no words other than my first and last name and city, state, and business name I used to work at?

    An objective on a resume is useless. It takes up space that could be used to highlight achievements. If you're sending a resume to a company, it's obvious that you're seeking a position in that industry.

      Caroll Kilby from my experience in career coaching students and consulting with employers for jobs in industry they strongly suggest for applicants to be Authentic and submit their original work. Caroll Kilby If you want to write a resume by yourself, but you are not sure how to write a great one, consult a resume writing company. They will give you all the necessary tips. I did it when I was preparing a resume for my first job. If you need a recommendation, check out pro-papers.com. They consulted me.
