Revisiting Tata Docomo Photon+ USB Dongle in 2024: Does it still work?

Tata Photon+/Whiz were high-speed mobile internet access offerings from Tata Indicom/Docomo in India during the 2010s. Touted to offer maximum download speeds of 3.1 Mbps (for Photon+)/ 3G like speeds on the go. However, owing to stiff competition and turbulent period for the Indian telecom sector during the second part of the 2010s many telcos were forced to wind up their operations like Reliance Communications, Aircel and Tata Docomo. Airtel bought Tata Docomo in October 2017 and in July 2019 all Tata Docomo subscribers were migrated to airtel's network. In this video we revisit this cute dongle and see if it is able to connect to any networks or not.
Surely, we have come a long way after the introduction of Jio in 2016 in terms of internet speeds, data caps and latency.

I wish Tata Docomo was still operational today. We would have a strong competition to Jio/airtel and a reliable alternative along with BSNL.
