Heavy Metal was really cool. It was a composite of several unrelated stories from the magazine, linked together by the Lok Nar green glowing ball of evil thing. I never really thought deeply about the stories but the imagery and soundtrack were what really got me. Back when it was released it was a thing to see it in a "midnight matinee" at a theater with great acoustics and get the projectionist to crank the sound up during the hard rock music parts. I can remember kids dancing in the aisles while the movie played. I still own the soundtrack on LP (for the cover art) and both the soundtrack (rock songs) and original score (the classical music parts) on CD and play them from time to time. My favorites are "Radar Rider" by Riggs, played over the opening with the Corvette landing from space, and "Takin' A Ride (on Heavy Metal)" by Don Felder, played over the B-17/zombie sequence.
