I hate to laugh but everything I've read about Contiki tours is that everyone gets sick by the end with the "Contiki cough". AS soon as I heard some of you start coughing I was thinking "Oh no!". I don't know how you would prevent getting sick. Most things I've read said it's from being on the bus all the time. hmmm...

@@jxshgrxff Definitely tons of montages out there, this was perfect, I recommend doing the Greek island hopper Contiki provides. That was probably the greatest time I ever had, especially if you like relaxing/partying hard lol. Done a few Contikis, eager for more after the pandemic passes over.

After going on a similar Contiki, this is probably the most accurate vlog I've seen. Most vids only look at the sightseeing, but it was good to be reminded of the nightly struggle to find an Uber home in a foreign country. It brought back funny memories :)

I really enjoyed the first part of the tour especially France and Italy! I paid around $2.6k to get there and back with Singapore airlines from Melbourne but this was quite expensive and I only did it cos I wanted to go to Changi airport haha not sure what airfares will be like in these times though!

Cheers man :) I bought the SIM card online before I left. So I brought it with me in my carry on and as soon as I got to Heathrow Airport I swapped out my normal SIM with the international one!

I put the dates and time stamps in the video so you can see exactly when the events in the vlog happen 😄 This was during July so was peak Euro summer which is what I was wanting and really enjoyed (although it did get really hot). It depends on what you're wanting really. If you want peak summer and peak tourism then I think any time June-August will be good, but also means peak prices. But if you wanted summer but less busy and hot then probably go before or after those months. And of course if you want a winter trip then I'm sure Contiki run similar, if not the exact same, trip during the colder winter months.

What were the demographics like in your group? Like were they students or workers? I heard you can get wildly different members depending on when you book your trip. Did you get students on your trip at all? Apparently Australian students have their summer breaks in November-December. I’m American so I’m not familiar.
@@alextran2490 sounds like a good idea! The majority of our group for this trip was skewed towards 18 to early 20s which was the same for the most recent Greece trip as well. However, there were some people who were late 20s as well for this trip. For both trips there were quite a lot more girls than guys. I can't really remember people's professions but I think most people (including myself for the 2019 trip) were students and just working part-time jobs. Our summer break is at the end of the year but it's a big thing here to go to Europe during European summer so lots of people travel then. I don't know if the timing of the trips will determine the people but I would agree that the vibe of each trip will be different depending on if everyone gets along, there's no dramas and if people are very cliquey or not. If you're American you'll definitely be either the only one or one of a few because Contiki is a New Zealand-based tour company and the majority of people who do it are Australian. My tip for you would to be VERY mindful of the culture differences between USA and Australia and be careful how you talk and interact with the people on your trip (judging from what I've seen and heard).

The girl/guy ratio is really interesting I honestly have a hard time understanding why there are more women in tour groups. I went on a tour with g adventures and although everyone was like 40 years old on average we also had a 70/30 split for the girl/guy ratio. What type of cultural differences did you hear about? I know every country has its own characteristics but i thought America and Australia are probably extremely similar. The only thing I’m actually worried about is Australian slangs that I wouldn’t be aware of 😂

I don't wanna scare you by saying even the accent annoys some people but it's lowkey true from what I heard 😬 But if you're friendly, easygoing, got a good sense of humour and a positive attitude and don't get involved in any drama, you'll be more than fine 👍 Don't think any slang will be too much of a problem either! Could just quickly watch some RUclips videos about it if you really wanted though haha

And I’m from australia WA, so I basically just want to know the process you went through to get there (to London and to start the contiki) ? :).
Yeah sure! I booked the trip itself via the Contiki website and then booked my own flights there and back! I didn’t go through any third party companies because I didn’t really feel like I needed to because I literally just went there for the trip. As for accommodation the night before and after the trip I just opted for the Royal National Hotel because Contiki offers it (for an additional price) when you book a trip with them and it was convenient and easy to do!
