What I don't get is how Americans just seems to accept that the US can dictate to Ukraine to give up. Trump can promise to end the war all he wants, it isn't up to him. Sure, the US has an outsized leverage, but Ukraine is not a slave state to the US. And if the US withdraws all support from Ukraine, that could have huge ramifications on NATO and whether third countries jumps into the fray.

What I don't get is how Americans just seems to accept that the US can dictate to Ukraine to give up. Trump can promise to end the war all he wants, it isn't up to him. Sure, the US has an outsized leverage, but Ukraine is not a slave state to the US. And if the US withdraws all support from Ukraine, that could have huge ramifications on NATO and whether third countries jumps into the fray.
