I did it too, december 5th 2023. Torture ! Really ! I was not prepared and I tought it would be easy !
I have to admit that I cried too during the last part. I felt so alone with the elements and was so tired. I prayed all my dead relatives and God so they would help me to finish it ! At 48, I was the oldest in my team so they waited for me about 15 minutes on the summit until I made it too. I will never forget that experience. Amazing view. And I have a lot of respect and admiration for the guides and porters who climb back and forth, twice a week, with 50 pounds of material and food on the shoulders, in sandals ! They are amazing. Yes.. Rinjani is real no joke.. but it's worth the view and satisfaction. You're so tough and resilient... it's ok to take slow walk coz everyone has their own pace. Good job.. you did it.

We did this 2 days/1 night trip in '94. There were no check ups, no tents, luxury and stuff. You would sleep on the wooden planks of a shelter. Only some small groups of tourists including girls with a guide were there. Nobody was crying or really complaining. We experienced it only as a spicy climb. The most uncomfortable was the seemingly never ending descend.
I’m so embarassed to the fact that I’m an Indonesian and still have no guts to actually hike Rinjani, but you did!👏

You should climb a mountain with your best friend, because if we climb a mountain we will know its true attitude (happy, sad, patient or not, mental, physical, etc.) .So mountain climbing is an amazing experience. Proud of you🎉🎉😊

Holy moly that is such a beautiful place! That trek looked insane though, I did a rough two day trek in Nepal some years ago but this looks more difficult by far. Great job!

I hope you feel at home in Indonesia, there are still many tourist attractions or worldwide destinations in Indonesia, such as Jakarta, Bali, Borobudur temple, Prambanan temple, Lombok, Labuan Bajo, Raja Ampat and many others.
I LOVE Indonesia! It is one of my favorite places in the world. So much to do!

Next stop...Ijen and Bromo....not as tough as Rinjani.....Tumpak Sewu and Kapas Biru are bigger than any waterfalls in Bali and Lombok

Thank you so much! I am not a super intense hiker, I mostly go on day hikes that are only a few hours long. So I am pretty active, but definitely needed more uphill training for this!

Try other mountains in central java, u can see mountains side bye side in front of your eyes like merbabu, Sindoro sumbing, prau and others.

Unfortunately that is trash 😔 The companies try their hardest to keep the trail clean, but the base camp is a bit harder to maintain I suppose

Sugar is not good. Fast charge but faster discharge. Carbs is better. But protein or fat is the best for endurance.

I was originally supposed to! But I was SO tired I called it a day early 😂 which was the good call because I could hardly walk by the time I got down!

Add 1 day/night extra time, so you can enjoy the hike, soak in the natural hot water and do fishing 😊
I did originally go with the 3 day 2 night, but the pace was just as fast as the 2 day 1 night and I was sooo tired so I called it quits 😂

Thanks for your honesty and not glossing over the difficulty. I was supposed to climb this but said no after getting humbled and barely making it up Kawah Ijen over in Java 😂 I will definitely hike/climb it for sure in the future but I’m getting my cardio and strength up first 😅

Yeah the base camp did have quite a bit of trash unfortunately 😔 they do try to keep the trail clean but the monkeys who steal the trash bags don’t help the problem!! Haha
