This is one of the most challenging airports. It is a single runway airport in the valleys surrounded by miuntainous regions of the himalayas. Pilots must only use radar and coordinates to locate the runway. They are able to see the runway as they are descending into paro however, at the last 10mins or so, they cannot see the runway at all and must only know where it is in their minds but cant see it visually. It is so dangerous because there is only one chance, the mountainous area will not allow any rooms for error. If they turn wrongly, they could very possibly crash into the mountains or lose control and crash into the valleys below. They are not able to U-turn or change routing once they have descended into the mountainous region because it is too narrow and visuals are already almost blocked by everything around them. Weather also is another factor, which could potentially cause alot of problems on final approach.
