    I've never flown an airliner in real life. And baring some miracle where both pilots get sick and I'm the only pilot left in a airliner I never will, LOL.
    Then I look at the bright side, flying airliners is a job, you fly whether you want to or not and you go where you are scheduled. Someone like myself will rent a plane (usually with my best buddy who flies a 747) and I'll go where my heart takes me :)
    Wind under the wing is the same for a Piper or Cessna as it is for a 747

    Nice video! Some "What if" - questions ;-)
    What about the missed approach? On your Jepp plates it's to the North for RWY33.
    What if you loose Nr 2 engine just before the 270º turn? Are you gonna turn into a death engine with 135kt and 30-40º AOB? Or is there an escape route out of that valley?
    What if 15kt tailwind? Any option for a circling towards RWY 33?
    Straight In RWY 33 possible?
    What are the diversion airfields in the neighborhood?
    Do you also have a video of the take-off? (both RWY's feasible?)
    Nice tutorial though!

    @FlyUPS767 on an ILS approach you focus on keeping the GS needle centered & it will take you to the runway threshold, on a visual approach the weather needs to be good enough for you to be able to judge the descent visually (what you said), you can only go full visual when you see the runway

    A fantastic tutorial 404, this was exactly what i was looking for to shoot this challenging approach. i was getting bored of innsbruck via ils and vfr. what scenery are you using? it sure dosent look like the stock scenery that comes with fsx.

  • @FSX404
    @FSX404  11 лет назад

    I personally use 40 deg of flaps for a 737, but that is not always the case.
    Friends of mine who fly an actual 737-800 are reluctant to put more than 25 deg of flaps on landings because it slows the plane down too much and makes the plane sink like a rock. They only use 40 deg of flaps on shorter runways in a 737-800.
    In the end it is up to the pilots in command to decide what flap setting he/she wants to use.

    Gvad The Pilot two questions 1 with a dash 8 should the gear be down before the 35 degree turn ? 2 I found that if I approach at 9500 feet im to high for the runway I had to be about 8700 feet max after the turn why is that? is it different in fs2004 vs fsx?

  • @FSX404
    @FSX404  11 лет назад

    Disengaging the autopilot depends on two things.
    1. Company rules. Each airline company has their rules when a pilot must use the autopilot.
    2. Pilots decision. As long as you comply with your company's rules on autopilot use, it is up to the pilot to decide when to disengage the autopilot.
    I personally disengage the autopilot (in the flight sim) any time I'm below 18,000 feet because I like to fly manually.

    Cool video! But as you can see in real approaches to rwy 15, its threshold is located much "earlier", i.e. much closer to the mountain slope, so the only way to get to the runway course and not to hit the slope is to complete left final turn just before the flare. To have this realistic terrain I use Paro Addon by Thai Creation.

    Hi GVad, amazing video. I start to practice this approach yesterday but when I planned my route in PFPX, it didn't have "TAKTI" intersection in it, just from BOGOP straight to VOR PRO. Should I add the TAKTI between manually or is it just due to navdata cycle update? Thank you

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  7 лет назад

      Tomáš Ščerbák its probably nav data updates. There may be altogether a new approach by now, but you can still create the point (or there may be a point in the same spot with a different name now) and do this approach. Main thing is fly to the VOR and be there at 13500 feet

    You can glance at it, but it really it is more experience. You know almost by instinct f you are high or low.
    1500 fpm is standard for a descent except when on final, at which point it can be 700-1000 fpm. These are just guidelines, you have to be able to adapt as you go. Experience is the key. When you've done 2000 landings, you really don't need a PAPI to tell you where you are on the approach, you should know.

    Yes I do have third party scenery for Paro, I cant remember which, it should be in the description. However, I use FS9, not FSX. FSX frame rate is too slow even with some good computers. You cant help it. Either get a very powerful computer or change to FS9.

    That is a different procedure if you want to do it properly, there has to be a transition from instrument flying to visual flying, you cant just wing it.
    Meaning there is a final instrument point, and initial visual entry point and procedure. I doubt that it is published anywhere by I can usually figure it out, all I need is good 3 frames from a actual video.

    Hi! Nice approach, a proper job! But the critical thing about primitive sceneries of Paro is slightly wrong location of rwy in relation to mountains - check my approach called "Embraer E190 Visual Approach & Landing in Paro VQPR rwy 15 (FS9)" where I used a new scenery (payware by Thai Creation) - it seems far more realistic: compare how close the threshold of rwy 15 is to the slope - it is far less space for final turn, so you complete the lineup just at the threshold.

    Hi. May I ask that did u use the auto-throttle in this approach or it is absolutely manual control of the throttle?

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  8 лет назад

      I always use manual controls including manual throttles for my videos. Its the only way to get better.
      Even current FAA reports show that pilots are becoming too attached to autopilot and automation, so they keep loosing their skills.

    • @ComeForPeace
      @ComeForPeace 8 лет назад

      +GVad The Pilot (FSX404) wow! This is fastest reply I ever get from RUclips. Thanks so much! Have been subscribing ur channel for years. Recently I m also trying to do this Paro runway 15 approach according to your video, but keep crashing the plane. I have some questions that hope u can answer. 1: what is the flap setting for this approach? Whenever I set my flaps more than 15 on my PMDG 737, the computer gives me the warning sound to put down the landing gears. But according to your video, you only put down gears after the final 240 degree roll. So how do u manage to get the air speed so low with flaps only about 10?
      2nd: I saw those real world Bultan Pilots also land on runway 33 by following in valley. So what is the criterial that they decide which side of the runway to land? Thank you so much.

    • @ComeForPeace
      @ComeForPeace 8 лет назад

      +GVad The Pilot (FSX404) there is a joke in China's aviation field (I m not sure if it is true, just according to my friend). Pilots will arm the autopilot as long as the airplane raises up its noise from the runway, then pull down the window curtain and light up a cigarette.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  8 лет назад

      +Jia Xm for some of these approaches, some warnings have to be ignored. Im no expert on Paro, but just used my intuition and experience. Those pilots who fly in there for real know all the details. As much as I'd like to be correct, a lot of the airplane settings is best guess.
      It takes a while to get used to this approach, it is very hard so dont get discouraged, many people cant do it right even after many tries. My best advice is know your plane, know the power/descent handling of a plane. Practice something called slow flight so you know how power and pitch affect the plane descent and speed during landing. It will come.
      There is a 33 approach right through the mountains at Paro, I just havent done it, or looked at the approach yet. So I couldnt help you with it now. Good luck, keep flying manually.

    Hi GVad! Nice job, men, however some minor comments:
    - The “downwind” turn depicted at about 2:30 on the video shows a track way too far off to the left; in fact not the ground track that you correctly fly later on, at about 8:30 on the video.
    - The altitudes are way too conservative, reason why you get several GPWS “sink rate” calls later on: on downwind before the turn it should be 9800`and at the end of the turn 8800`.
    The rest is pretty accurate!!!
    P.S. I will fly there a A319 next week and just came out of a SIM session covering the specific scenario.
    Bregrds.
