    I'm so sad to hear about Gia. Since I've started following you from the beginning, Gia has always in the background, providing comedic relief. I guess this is part of the journey of life. One day you two will be reunited. RIP Gia.

    When I import I cut back majority of roots and re-root. No matter how good they look, they always seem to melt back during the accumulation process. I learned this the hard way. There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to importing.

    Thank you so much for being so honest and doing a good update on your plants. For me as a newbie it is kind of a "relief" that everybody struggles with plants and plants imports, pests and so and so... It's funny that I actually import plants from Indonesia and was watching your adventures here just nodding along the way. Yup, that's how importing works... I don't put imports straight into soil anymore though, they always rot for me. Only moss and lots of light and humidity. Leca is also good for recovery but I always forget to add the water in time so I stick to moss. Also, at least while importing to US, the roots have to be treated with strong chemicals and 90% of the time they do not survive, the plant needs to grow new roots most of the time. Some sturdier ones do keep some roots but you did not choose easy plants here... Keeping my fingers crossed for the survivors, now it will only get easier :)
    Oh... I actually started writing the comment before finishing the video. Poor Gia... In my opinion you made the right choice but I'm sure it was hard and I'm really sorry for you. Goodbye Dachshound Variegata, you will be missed.

    Love your videos, I'm learning a lot from them. My growing conditions are completely different from yours, I'm in the US, in the center of the country, cold winters, hot summers, it's a challenge! Good luck to you, and love your channel!

    I’ve seen plants survive after getting lost in transit for a month! It is possible because I’ve imported anthuriums & philos from different nurseries most of which take 10-15 days to arrive. The care for these plants is nothing like normal plants. There’s tons of videos on RUclips that explain the rehab process. If you decide to import again I hope it goes well!!

  • @damaris864-s9p
    @damaris864-s9p 2 года назад +2

    The rotting roots weren’t caused by the gardener watering. Imports rot all of their roots regardless of how they look on arrival. I’d take off as much as possible to prevent stem rot. In my opinion always keep the stem intact and don’t take props until roots have established bc the stem retains enough nutrients to keep it alive without roots. Overall major rules: chop roots, cut down to 3 leaves max, don’t fertilize, don’t propagate, and wash the remaining roots in dilute hydrogen peroxide and dip in rooting powder.

Their older bigger leaves are all gone or im dying to cut them off but they only put out a few small leaves. Ive poled them a week ago hoping it encourages them to put out leaves faster to climb the moss pole. Philodendrons want to get a bit dry in their potting mix before watering . Otherwise they'll rot . When rehabbing plants we don't fertilize, you are stressing an already stressed plant. Anthuriums thrive in slightly moist spagnum from my experience. Finally, so sad to hear Gia passed away...!

    Hi Sean! Happy 7th Day! Exodus 20:8-11 Did I tell you my sisters name is shawn. As you can see it's spelled different. What is your actual cultural name? So, I've got over 20 wet sticks growing in Moss, but quess what, They are in Spanish Moss. I got it at a big box store. Home Depot. Let me tell you why Spanish Moss. After watching many Planters grow pieces of a plant in Sprag rather than soil, I just got curious. I am a soil planter. But I wanted to try this method just because I was curious and usually prop in WATER. When I went to buy the Sprag, the size of the bag was too much for me since I'm only testing and wanted to see what all the interest in sprag was all about. Could not find a small enough amount but found a small amount I could deal with since I'm experimenting, in Spanish Moss. So I said to myself, this is moss too let's try it. To my surprise up came healthy sprouts of plant leaves. I'm letting them grow until they hit the top of the prop box, plastic take out food cartons, and then I will plant many of them together in soil if they can be planted together depending on the type of plant. Of coarse I was excited to see them grow in this medium and still excited. Now, I will not do this forever I do want to use good Sprag. What is good Sprag to you and what do you think of what I've done using Spanish Moss? Is there anything you know about Spanish Moss that you could share and why this worked? Take care and give Glory to the God who loves you.

      Hello my real name is actually William 🙃. Thank you for that share, spanish moss is the common name for tillandsia usneoides, which is an airplant. Im not sure if thats what you are refering to? If it is, then its the first time I’ve heard them used as a propagation media 😅 they are definitely more expensive than sphagnum moss and this plant could die in a prop box as the humidity would suffocate it. But you may have been referring to a different Spanish moss entirely…? 😅

      Could well be a different Spanish Moss because my little babies are doing well in it. One thing though the S moss does turn dark while in use. I even reuse it by washing it in water mixed with peroxide. See, I just was trying something and that's what happened. I got the moss in a bag with just a good enough portion for my purpose. I am running out of that bag. Still I'd like to know your experience of what you think constitutes good or excellent Spraghnum Moss. I am getting ready to invest in Sprag. Ok, William. I thought perhaps you'd say Lagoa or something to that effect. Many people have European names and behind that are beautiful cultural names. My given name is Iinna. It is From Japanese. However, I gave my self another, Oma. It means strength. But my strength is in the God of the Universe. I'm just curios Sean, just curious. Thank you Mr. William and I'll keep watching. Glad to know you settled on what you love to do right now with plants. Sorry to know plant shop didn't work out and your little dog has passed but you've moved on to a NEW CHAPTER OF YOUR LIFE. As Aroids Only says, "KEEP PLANT'N"!
