There’s a lot of great hockey players that didn’t make the nhl because of attitude and there’s a lot mediocre players that made a lot of money because of a good attitude. It’s the same in the real world for any job!

Stick like a dream, with a head full of schemes,
A hotshot's talent, a locker room nightmare it seems.
GMs take a pass, though the points he can rack,
Too much baggage for a championship track.

Aside from Laine, I think Winnipeg has done well. Same as Montreal. These teams rarely bottom out like Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim and the Rangers. I think Wpg would do great in the lottery year after year, but develop fairly well from mid to late 1st round. Somehow Wpg and Calgary for example, should bottom out more often. Edmonton did well doing that! Anyway, Rutger hopeful wakes up before it is too late...went from a Doan to one of those Russian hacks ;) but maybe he turns out as a Selanne for WPG or someone else...youth need an attitude adjustment for sure

      Or, he’s exercising his rights
If the jets don’t think he’s ready and want to put him in the AHL why should he? He has options. He’s probably getting paid more at Michigan, playing against as good or better competition, and it’s gotta be better to live in an arbor than an AHL schedule
Then he becomes a free agent and can go where he wants

Okay, so McGroarty gets traded and actually lives upnto the hype. In two or three years absolutely everyone will forget everything about this situation. Pacioretty did something similar and after it worked out everyone was praising him for fighting for himself.
Bortom line, this is a ton of speculation and a young player is doing what he thinks is best for his career. It doesn't always work out but I'd rather bet on myself than do something I don't see working out for me.

Devils advocate here. Before we compare the kid to cancer Dubois, what if we compare him to Knies, who really wanted to enjoy college till the end?
I mean maybe the kid simply asked: do you see me in the line up because I’d rather stay in college. And now Winnipeg is spinning it their way like they’re known to do. Jets chose wheeler over laine. Ehlers, perfetti, heinola had their development stunted. Most of these players had team friendly stories come out against them

Winnipeg born / Winnipeg Jets fan for life here. Sick. That's my feeling about this kid. He's either COMPLETELY off his rocker / deluded / has no concept of reality or is getting VERY BAD advice. Whichever it is... sick. If it's bad advice, then get NEW advice. If it's the former and he just ain't right / bizarre sense of self, then dang, I feel bad for him and my Jets. We ALL know that the Winnipeg Jets organization is VERY BAD with holding players back. They all go to the AHL for a period of time and MANY end up there a LOT longer than they should. However, Mark Morrisson and crew on the Manitoba Moose are very good coaches and playing against AHL players is a good place to learn, get some experience against future or past NHL players. The Jets keep players on the Moose far too long on average. Look at poor Ville Heinola. The kid has so much talent, but keeps being stuck there when he is SOOOOOOOOOOO much better than Pionk, Stanley, Schmidt, etc... regular starters. It's sad. But, even knowing that, McGrumpy took the wrong path. He could have come out and said, look, I don't want to play on your team, so please trade me to somewhere I want to play. I ain't signing with you guys, but I'm NOT GOING PUBLIC. Do it behind the scenes, get as much as you can for me. Let's make it a win win. That goes back to me saying he's done it all wrong and hurt himself and the Jets. Who wants a kid like that? Seriously wrong in the head or Bad attitude or Bad advice. Take your pick. Sick, that's how we Jets fans feel about this. Hey, we know that Winnipeg is one of the last franchises players want to be with, but be smart about it kid. Damn.

Winnipeg really does takes the cake for poor vetting of draft prospects and trades. It’s like they don’t put any money into actually hiring human resources people who interview people for a living or conducting back ground checks and reaching out to former employers like you normally would do for an employee you’re going to pay millions of dollars.

Im shure that Kent knows a lot of his personnality. Eric Engels in the Sick Podcast told that Rutger was a name to watch Mtl. It came real close at Draft.
