A 1st round pick and 2 former first round picks is a bit of an overpayment in my opinion. Plus Mcgoarty demanding Top 6 and PP minutes and etc as conditions for signing a contract screams red flag to me.
agree, pass
If this trade goes through, I hope the Habs put in top 10 protection on the pick.
Just wanna say the pronunciation of the hokejka was exactly your second attemp ( with the sound of a Y on the letter J , if u understand me) ♥
I have trouble believing this trade from a Slovakian paper. Rutger refused a trade on the weekend because he wasnt guaranteed nhl time. so did MTL guarantee no ahl time for him?
After reading about McGroarty's attitude I'm definitely cooling on him. Still, if a team can talk some sense into him (he is just a kid after all) it could still all work out. The idea of Montréal getting him would be pretty crazy, they'd have a pretty formidable team at least on paper.
I’m not too familiar yet with the current situation with Rutger but if it is what they say it is attitude-wise, then Rutger is like a PLDubois in the making. A kid with lots of talent but kinda have it all in his head. Then the Jets are too familiar with that and prob. not having any of that again.
Anderson is a top 6 forwards in the AHL.
High level NCAA sophomores usually skip the AHL. That’s the point the kid is making. The idea the Habs are good enough they can put this guy in the AHL “for a few games” is laughable and if they plan to bury him so Anderson and Gallagher can continue to clog up the NHL roster he won’t sign in Montreal, either. Funny thing about these guys is they don’t seem to mind playing for crappy teams (SJ, Buffalo, Anaheim, Seattle) they just don’t want to be put on the AHL to NHL treadmill
@ScottStenlund Actually his initial statement is spot on. Your boy Perreault was a freshman, McGroarty was not. The kid doesn't want to forfeit his NCAA eligibility to play in the AHL, that's all. He was also captain of Team USA that Perreault played on, nothing to scoff at. I really don't understand where you're going with the Perreault comparison.
In other news, Gabe had 60 points in 36 games.
@ScottStenlund McGroarty didn't get drafted out of the NCAA, he got drafted and has since played 2 years in the NCAA at Michigan.
So yes, Will Smith, along with McGroarty and more and more players go to the NCAA after they get drafted.
You're absolutely correct, Vesey didn't become an elite NHLer. He did stick around though. He was drafted 12 years ago so again, maybe not the best example. We know the story, only wanted to sign with the Rangers. Unfortunately for him, the Rangers were already in this loop of underdelivering on promising prospects. Hate to break your heart about Perreault, that system still exists.
Funny enough, Adam Fox also played at Harvard just after Vesey and refused to sign with his drafting team, then refusing to sign with the team who traded for him, only to end up with the Rangers.
Mesar would be a throw in... the offer would be a 1st round 2025 + Barron... + Mesar as a sweetener
Mesar is more like spoiled milk
There was many better players than him at the draft. One of the rare mistake of Hughes
Better player of who? Who are you talking about?
Debatable but I remember being kinda pumped cause he had a good run in the world junior
One of the many**
@@mamagne800Brad lambert is about 20x the player mesar is
@@Jklmnopmmmmalso juri kulich as well
I think it would of been a decent if overpay by MTL. asking for more than that tips the scales into robbery.
I know every team & fans want their team to "win" the trade, but the best ones are when both teams gain value and preserve their options as trade partners
I've been saying ever since McGroarty demanded a trade that he is a problem and not somebody that Hughes would ever want on the Habs. If that guy ever gets 30 goals in a season he'll think he's awesome and will think he deserves $10 mil/yr.
Baron WILL be an NHL player. He can score and his défense improved. He is worth something. Mesar need a year in the AHL to see what he’s worth.
It sucks to say but growing up in MTL I’ve seen that Habs fans don’t have much hockey knowledge… giving a second round for a McDavid they’d say it’s a over payement 🤣 Mesar is worth a late 2nd at best, Barron or Harris don’t belong in the lineup and if it’s Calgary 1st well it’s not going to be worth much… so yes it’s a underpayment for McGroaty
Habs are offering too much for this player. I doubt it's true.
Here’s a question:
How many likely AHLers does it take to acquire McGroarty ?
Meh, if they don,t want to trade him we'll just hang on to our prospects. Not too into giving a boatload of prospects for one prospect, no matter how promising he is. McGroarty is still an unknown in the NHL. Harris and Baron already played in the league and they have shown good signs.
The real question who leaked this information... it's a very bad thing to do... you will never deal again with a hockey team that does this...
It was translated by the European site from a Hockey30 piece so don't put much stock in it, they are notoriously bad on intel.
You don’t need a guy like this….
Not surprised chevy rejected. Chevy is a patient guy look at the vilardi trade he’ll hold off until he gets equal or more value. The package for Mcgroarty is going to be a BOATLOAD and the habs always give insultingly low offers that’s why they’re a bottom of the barrel team.
Chevy is going to end up losing him for nothing, Calgary 1st rounder, and two former first rounders who are still young seems like a huge overpay, maybe he doesn't understand that you don't keep prospect forever or something but at this rate he'll end up trading for crumbs, and nothing else
Swept the Jets, though. So...there is that.
@@chadmartin6866 ya on a Mickey mouse run when all habs fans thought they were the best team in the league, and then the next year they came last! Good point tho!
Habs should avoid McGroarty drafted #14 in 2022 because of his attitude. Owen Beck also drafted in 2022 #33 is already superior to McGroarty, who is overrated.
Habs have a similar player in Joshua Roy 6'0'', 190lbs, drafted in 2021 shoots left also and is garanteed great 3rd line or good 2nd line left wing and has bigger potential than McGroarty and Roy loves Mtl.
I would play Mesar in Laval next season in top6 and trade him for 2025 2nd round pick.
I would trade Jordan Harris for 2nd or 3rd round pick 2025.
I would trade both of those 2nd picks for a 1st round pick 2025.
Since Habs won't make won't make the playoffs next season 24-25, if Armia and Dvorak are health, I would trade them for 2nd or 3rd round picks in 2025. And then I would trade also trade both of these picks for 1 pick in 1st round if possible.
Can you just imagine if Habs would have 4 first round picks in 2025?
Habs would be set for the a very long time with great talent...
I really don't know why they picked him even if it's juraj's friend !
Should have took lambert
Getting tired of these "ENTITLED" brats telling NHL organizations what they deserve, etc. It's ridiculous. EVERY team should point right back at them and say... "CONNOR BEDARD". "Are you Connor Bedard?" "NO?" "Then shut up and prove how good you are and dominate in the AHL before you get a chance. Now, back to the trade idea. As a Winnipeg Born / Winnipeg Jets fan, I'm torn on this one. I DON'T want Mesar. Take him out of that mix. Harris or Barron with a 1st round pick in the next draft is fine... ideally the pick from the Flames or Habs. I guess taking Mesar is fine. He would be a "who knows what may happen... probably be a bust... but who knows..." type of throw in. From MTL... they have a LOT of young top D, so giving up one of their 2nd or 3rd pairing D is okay, they have so many picks, so giving up one ain't the end of the world. And, MTL would be ideal for McGrumpy. He would probably LOVE to play with Caufield, so just make this deal and move on. McGrumpy doesn't want to play for the Jets, Mesar doesn't want to go to MTL, so just get it done and move on.
Bedard is a humble kid. He mentioned in a presser about making the team
@@DrunkwatchMandalorian I don't think he's that humble. But he's intelligent enough to know what to say (and what not to).
Winnipeg, I’d even throw in a 5th, 6th and 7th round pick. Also Pezetta: he has nice hair!😊
I think Winnipeg asking price is way too high. We are talking about McGroarty here, a player that has proven nothing vs some D that have played a few games in the NHL like Barron and especially Harris who has played 131 games with a very respectable differential of -5 with a bottom tier team. McGroarty never played a single game in the NHL so we don't even know if he can make the step to the big league. So I think Mesar , Harris or Barron should be more than enough.
Mesar is another prima Donna. Why would you want to take another headache back?
@@DrunkwatchMandalorian PrimaDonna or he already played adult hockey so he considered the second season in the OHL as a step back? Plus before WC20 he had 1,5 point/game
@@davidzupa9657 Winnipeg don’t want PLD 2.0. It’s great he played “Adult” hockey, he criticized his teammates for his poor play. So he’s not worth the aggravation
Jets don’t want this bum
Yes they want this bum
🤡
@@mamagne800 at least they make it there. Not tank like the habs, then make terrible picks with their high draft picks.
@@DyrsmDemidov and Slafkovsky ? Wasting high picks? Lmao😂 gotta be joking
Montreal’s draft picks have been solid
That's fine with me, Mesar should be brought up into the team this season, while we'd have to wait (despite what McGroarty wants) at least one year until it might be thinkable to do so. I hope Habs remove Mesar from the market even.
Ahahahah ok ! Mesar ain't playing in the league next year ! He's going to Laval
@@chrishansendate_linenbc9550 I was saying that in jest, but I do want to keep Mesar, but indeed, he will play in the AHL, might be brought up to play some games if he does even better than his last season but that's it.
If the habs want McGroarty, it starts at Mike Matheson.
More than a fair offer Jets should have made the trade
Wait them out and when they are about to lose his rights and come begging for that trade offer a seventh round pick 😂
