Excuse me for typing this but this right here scares the fuck outta me and lately I've been having dreams about tsunamis hitting america and I really hope that it's just that a dream and not a reality.
Calling BS on the title. The term "oil rig" is not used in the industry. We have drilling rigs and production platforms or vessels. Drilling and production facilities are evacuated for hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico. So, where was this video taken and from what vessel?
They're not always evacuated in the Gulf of Mexico...I was on one 160 miles south of Grand Isle, Louisiana that didn't evacuate when a hurricane sideswiped us. When the storm was over they had to use a torch to cut our drawers out of our asses...Ha!! 😂
I wouldn't go out there with no waves the people that work on those rigs have amazing bravery god bless them and keep them safe
They get really good pay, up to 102k a year or more
@@mr.bricks0529 102k thats all? I’m a Commercial plumber and make $150k+ a year
@@portcity8589 how long have you been working with the same company and all that for?
They are, also God*
Who is god??
Holy shit those are some serious wave's. Roughneck's are a special breed.
These oil rig workers are brave. No way in Hell would I be out there. Stay safe.
@SeaWeevil410 well thats a immature comment.
@@anitamann7173 dont care
@SeaWeevil410 how about u grow up
Yeah. The ocean is terrifying 😳😳😳 yet magnificent.
How in the world was that a immature comment. I think its a very dangerous job and they are brave for doing it. Not everyone can do that.
I could watch this all day
Been there done that. 28 years out there.
Very tough job, but good money, or at least it used to be.
Is it worth it? How much do beginners make?
When there are storms and huge waves do you have safety areas? Are rigs pretty stable in bad storms?
I could sleep through this, very nice asmr.
I did on a USS aircraft carrier 😆
So terrifying yet so beautiful
Beautiful, but crazy!!!
Cool video, thumbs up 🤟💯💯🤟
This guy inside the Ark or what?
For katrina it was one hundred foot seas
It used to good money, now you weight the risk & rewards
Who had the measuring tape. Lol.
dont need one.. there are levels to these platforms, that one he showed reached the production deck. we know how far above the water these levels are.
On the semi-submersible I worked on, the deck was 75' above the water, so if the waves crashed 2/3 the way up they were 50' waves.
These people really have a lot of belly to be out there in this weather hmmm 😔
These rigs are built to withstand high winds.
They are built to withstand cat 5 hurricanes….
nothing unusual with that its happens some time in northern sea even bigger waves
Yessireee!
Liar
Dam. Still don't see the crew boat 🙂
Ok, I want a surfboard because I’d this video, and I don’t know how to surf
There's so many riptide I don't think you could surf this bro
They were caught in the gulf during hurricane Ida because the company they work for didn’t evacuate them.
