Not sure if you guys are still around, but it just hit me that you should try Korean Shaved Ice, called "bingsoo." It's basically a shaved ice in a bowl topped with traditional red beans, mini mochi rice cakes and milk... but then nowadays there's all sorts of different toppings (fruits). I would recommend a place called Sul Bing Cafe (it';s a chain), or O Sulloc (again a chain, but also high-end). the later is known for its green tea, which they grown themselves in the Korean ilsand of JeJu, and among many teas and snacks they have there, there is a greentea shaved ice, which is delicious. check em out... it also very youtube picture friendlyt
To put it a little exaggeratedly, there are hundreds of Korean fried chicken brands, and each brand has thousands of flavors. You won't be able to try all of them anyway, but enjoy the different flavors of chicken. And there are so many other delicious Korean foods that I want to introduce to you, so it's a pity that you can't try them all.
What you call “rice cake” is actually named “Tteok” and it is very different from so called cakes. Many Westerners are not used to the very chewy texture of tteok at first, but those who get used to it get to love it eventually. Where you have breads in the Western world, Koreans have tteok in their place, so to speak. Also, the cream cheese and custard filling in the walnut snack are very recent creations. The original walnut snack had only sweet red bean fillings. Red beans are used traditionally in so many of Korean snacks as the sweet condiments, almost like jams in the west, which you guys might need some time to get used to.
That is interesting! The chewy texture was definitely the weird part for us. Maybe we will have to try it again. Thanks so much for all the information :)
It is not difficult to find Korean restaurant around the world nowadyas. Especially in major cities in U.S. But, it's funny that eating Korean food in Korea is way much feel better and taste better than abroad even thou the tastes are not that much different :) BTW, that Soju on the beginning is Factory mass made diluted cheap one, which most Koreans enjoy. So to speak, it's true that it's just Alchoholic water adding some flavors and sweetners on top of Ethanol. It's cheap and good as itself alone or as mixing with any kind of beverages. It is super popular amongst Koreans cos it's cheap and good. But, if any interested in Alcohols, better try a tradinitonal real Soju which is distilled from fermented rices by chance that you're there. Same name, but totally different methods and tastes. Also totally different prices too :)
Oh that is so interesting! We will need to try some real soju sometime. We mixed the soju with some mango juice a bit later and it tasted really good! Thanks for all the great information :)
The glass noodle is more like simplified version of Jabchae. But I found those at Gwabgjsng market are not quite like the original jabchae. Actually, most foreigners like Jabchae when having at a proper restaurant. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing. Take care 😀🌸🌸🍀
It looks delicious. But Koreans' favorite fried chickens are Kyochon's Original Chicken (soy garlic fried Chicken) and Honey Original Chicken. Both are not spicy at all.
@@JacobandJennyTravelThere's [half & half] menu which you get half of orginal plain fried chicken and other half with ur choice of THE ORIGINAL KOREAN STYLE red colored fried chicken. This menu is called "Ban-Ban" in Korean. Meaning... yes, half-half.
Soju is from Korea, but it's not only popular there. It's the number one selling spirit in the world. The radish given to you with the fried chicken is a palate cleanser to cut into the rich fried chicken.
It is always so fun and interesting to see people coming to our own country and trying things! We have had a great time in Korea! Thanks for watching friend :)
A lot of foreigners visit the Gwangjang market (not due to their fault but due to false marketing) but honestly it's really subpar compared to the quality korean foods you can get elsewhere (not to mention disorganized and quite dirty... it's also not as "fun" as the other traditional markets like Tongin market where you buy "tokens" to purchase food, like the good ole' days!) But please don't mind the negative comments here from the Koreans, they just simply want you to have the best Korean experience! Even though I'm one of those Korean people who don't like the market, I still thoroughly enjoyed your video. If you have some cash, I'd actually recommend you try to some fine dining at places like HanCook at the top of the Seoul N Tower - they present the best of Korean dishes in a modern style, and also feature Hanu beef, which is Korea's quality beef that's got a lot of marbling. You can also google for these experiences by searching for royal korean cuisine or han-jeong-shik (as someone else has recommended, which is the traditional Korean hote d'table, with literally tens of side dishes)... If you're still in Korea I'd highly recommend you try han-jeong-shik in very traditional cities like Jeonju (the entire city is built on hanok) or Gyeongju (Korea's ancient thousand-year-old capital). Once you try traditional korean food, you'll understand why some Koreans were saying Korean food is actually not that spicy... Thanks again for visiting my country. Take care!
Thank you so much for your kind guide on the conventional market, Seoul! You tried so many foods there! Particularly, KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) with Soju looks so yummy! I envy you! Enjoy your happy time there! Good luck! 😊😍👍
didn't comment on your last vlog, but I think I spent about 3 hours on a walking tour of the stream you walked on. you ended where I started my tour.....so did you think the big thing was a Christmas decoration or a shell? hmmmmmm. and yes, CASS beer is good. It's actually very populare in Thailand too....which I can atest to LOL.
In the first food, they aren't snacks, but are side dishes called banchan. The main dish at a Korean meal is rice and these side dishes are meant to complement the rice. But for the fried chicken, that white cube is a radish, the same radish that you ate in a previous video where you ate the bibim naengmyun (spicy cold noodles) and the mandoo (dumplings), but it's not in kimchi form. One thing I noticed is that many people from the West don't like chewy foods, but a lot of Koreans do like chewy food. You tried one type when you tried the bibim naemgmyun, but there are snacks like dried squid along with other dried seafood products (usually eaten with drinks) and mochi type foods along along with other glutinous riice products. Even when Koreans make ramyun (ramen), they try to make the noodles more chewy by consistently taking it out of the boiling water to mix with the cold air.
@@JacobandJennyTravel That's probably right. For me, it does help with how much I eat when I snack, especially when snacking out of boredom. If you get a beer somewhere, there is usually a dried snack plate offered as one of the dishes you can order. I like ordering those as I don't have to rush to eat it before it gets cold. Also, if I have consumed a lot of alcohol, it takes that alcohol taste out of my mouth so I can continue drinking without feeling sick. :) Peanuts work similarly and peanuts usually come with the dried snacks. There is usually a dipping sauce made with the hot pepper paste and mayonnaise. Some people mix the two as dip the dried seafood into it, kind of like dipping tortilla chips into a dip. Fruits are great as a dish to complement your drinks, but for me the acidity in the fruits play with the alcohol in my stomach. Speaking of fruits, if they are in season, try Korean strawberries. The taste takes me back to a time when strawberries were good in America. Make sure they aren't the imported ones.
Korean chili pepper power used in Korean spicy food such as kimchi actually isn’t as spicy as you think - the pepper used to make gochugaru(Korean chili power) has a relatively mild rating of under 2,500 Scoville units. Raw garlic and green onion in kimchi have spiciness, but their spiciness is volatile, less spicy than wasabi, so they are not included in the Scoville heat units. (Kimchi is not that spicy, but pungent because of minced raw garlic in it.) In comparison, Thai peppers typically range from 50,000 to 100,000 Scoville heat units, which is much spicier than Korean peppers.Thailand might well be the country most famous for its spicy dishes. Thai food has a variety of spicy flavors. Different spice combinations can be so diverse. So many types of “heat” to perceive.
That is so interesting!! We kept trying to find super spicy food in Thailand but must not have been looking in the right places. Thanks for all the information!

I'm Korean, but I hate tteokbokki. I think tteokbokki is the most unhealthy food among Korean foods. Originally, Tteokbokki was a court dish stir-fried with rice cakes, vegetables and meat in soy sauce, but these days it has turned into a junk food like that. I think today's Tteokbokki is the number one food in Korea that should be eliminated. Except for the old traditional tteokbokki.

This is the problem in Korea... there are many good things or foods or restaurants... but it's sooooo difficult to find out as Google Maps is not working well here in Korea, and only native APPs are dominating. that's almost a disaster for foreigners. Also, Grab is not working here. FYI, Please, please do not go to the Gwang-Jang Market in the summer season. It's very hot and humid and you'll choke...;;;;;
Hanok villiage should be banned from tour sight. It is literally residential area. If I live there, tourists will drive me nuts. I am surprised residents dont petition for their privacy

Oh. mate. It's Gwangjang market, the heaven of Korean so delicious all kinds of junk foods, in terms of terminology :) LOL. All so so much fatty, oily, greasy, salty, so much sugary and all kinds of hot and pungent spices, as well. But they're mostly super delicious IMO. Why not sometimes only eat whatever i want to eat whether it's healty or unhealty. Especially, abroad, the street junk foods are much much more delicious and fun than Michellin stared fine restaurant. Aint it ? IMO and experiences, fine restauratns are boring and not so tasty compared to so junk street foods when i travel around. Dont be misunderstand, tho. I m just big fan of world junk foods. I also like fine restaurnats too :) LOL. I support you good guys.

If you are thinking of going to China, don't. korean BBQ is actually only good in America, where we have a lot of cattle land. Korea itself actually doesn't have much cattle farm land, so the quality of korean bbq is not good there!
What? Have YOU had beef in Korea? It’s obvious you haven’t! Lol! Korean meat is incredible! Please go have Korean bbq both beef and pork. So delicious!

@@JacobandJennyTravel yep also go to 마장동 there is meat market Korea beef (wagu level thing) is can eat cheap and good valute
Ha Ha,, you tried KR food,, it is good taste and very special to foreign visitors..maybe.. what you did eat on video clip is.. name is 잡채, 빈대떡, 호두과자,만두,떡볶이.( as KR words) very interesting to you.. especially,, dring soju with fried chicken.. SOJU is Korean alchol,, very popular and it is good macthing with KR food. anyway, have a great time in Seoul..~~
The soju and beer tasted great with the chicken! Everything was so delicious! Thanks so much for your comment :)
ketchup×mayonaise on the top of the cabbige😂
Very interesting! It did taste good! Thanks for watching :)
That is interesting. We purposely buy spicy things in the US, but Korea has had some great spice too! Thanks for all that great information :)
Sorry, the chicken you ate is not Korean food. Can't judge the taste of Korean food by that food. The real Korean chicken dish is this 👉ruclips.net/user/shortsAM0rkqeCimc?feature=share

We hope we can give you a little piece of home when watching! I bet Australia is great too :) thanks so much for watching!
This is the problem in Korea... there are many good things or foods or restaurants... but it's sooooo difficult to find out as Google Maps is not working well here in Korea, and only native APPs are dominating. that's almost a disaster for foreigners. Also, Grab is not working here. FYI, Please, please do not go to the Gwang-Jang Market in the summer season. It's very hot and humid and you'll choke...;;;;;
We did figure out kakao map is good to use there! Thanks for all the great information :)
Hanok villiage should be banned from tour sight. It is literally residential area. If I live there, tourists will drive me nuts. I am surprised residents dont petition for their privacy
Yeah I am sure we would get annoyed too if we lived there! Thanks for watching :)
2:55 sauce is ketchup+mayonnaise.
Interesting!! Thanks for the information :)

That is interesting!! We have tried Korean fried chicken in a few other places and so far we like a little shop the best!
They are both delicious and spicy in their own ways! Haha! Thanks so much for your comment :)
11:51? REALLY?? (Korean here) Do you actually think Korean food is spicier than Thai food? Maybe I haven't tried the mild Thai dishes enough 😂
In our experience we really do think it was spicier haha! I am sure maybe people will disagree with us, but that is our opinion :) thanks for watching friend!
We did order boneless and we both really loved it! But of course everyone likes different things! The sauce was delicious. Thanks so much for watching :)
Oh.
We totally agree! We love nice restaurants and we also love street food! They both have their place. Thanks so much for watching :)
@yakult71 how rude,,, they enjoyed the food and ur calling it junk? U should Learn proper Manners and English again. LOL punk!
Please ask and go

i recommand a menu "han-jung-seek". it is good for you and not expansive price. almost 15dollar each person. so fantastic.
(some ruxury restaurant 50~70us dollar) anyway nice to see you^^

Korean modern foods are spicy:(((( I mean tooooo spicy…… on the other hand, Traditional foods are not spicy :)

If you are thinking of going to China, don't. China have water and power crisis, financial & property crisis and extremely high unemployment rate. 40 years of economic growth erased by 3 years of pandemic lock-down. Many factories have closed and moved out. You may not be able to withdraw money from ATM. Go somewhere else. Regards
We have no current plans to go to China, but maybe someday in the future :) thanks for the advice!

Some korean food is too spicy. But classic Korean food is bland. Some tastes like nothing.

In general korean food are more spicy than Thai food.
No. In general Thai food is 10times spicier than Korean food. Korean food has countless non-spicy bland foods such as Pyeongyang naengmyeon, cold bean noodle, white porridge, Seolleongtang, Gomtang, seoul bulgogi, grilled fish, raw fish, etcetera x 1000....
@@gaweekin524 ofcourse there are lots of korean food thats not particular spicy but the food thats spicy is often more spicy than thai food. So no, thai food is not 10 times more spicy than korean food.
